SNIPES’ SECRET CEREMONY: Wesley and his babies’ mama allegedly wed last week.
Wesley Snipes (Mar. 24, 2003) *Moving as quick as vampire-slayer Blade, actor Wesley Snipes reportedly wed Nikki Park, the mother of his two youngest children in a New Jersey clerk’s office last week. Northjersey.com reports that Snipes was spotted at the Bergen County Clerk’s Office for an impromptu wedding ceremony with County Clerk Kathleen Donovan. Donovan would neither confirm nor deny the rumor and Snipes’ spokesperson referred questions to Snipes’ personal assistant who could not be reached for comment. (How many assistants do these HollyHood types need?) In any event, county staffers and others are saying the actor had a quickie wedding most likely to Parks, who is a Korean painter and Snipes’ girl for the last several years. Snipes, who is 40, has a home in Alpine, New Jersey. |
Interesting...........

I heard on the radio today that Lauryn Hill is preggers with baby #5!!! Of course, the father is Rohan Marley, who is currently married to someone else (who has 2 of his children) and who also has a baby with Lauryn's cousin. Too much drama, I tell you!

Britney Strikes Back
The childish feud between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake continues By BeatBoxBetty we know this part... Enough already. As if it wasn't pathetic enough when Justin Timberlake used his "Cry Me A River" video to exorcise the demon known as Britney Spears from his life, now B.S. is slapping back with her own evil twist. But before I tell you what Britney's got up her sleeveless sleeve, let's just recap what depths the former 'NSYNC-er has sunk to, shall we? Justin's "justice" vid was released back in November and featured 18-year-old model/actress Lauren Hastings playing what could only be construed as a Britney look-alike. Perhaps it was the newsboy cap and tinted pink sunglasses that gave it away -- but we got the point. In the creepy video we see Justin spying on his supposed ex who is seen getting into a car with another man. Plotting his revenge, he breaks into her estate and leaves a tape of himself making out with another woman running on her TV. I guess revenge is a dish best served on a Toshiba. Check this out... But alas, as always, where there's a tit there's a tat. Britney has reportedly hit back, striking a low blow with the video footage for her new single "I Love Rock 'n' Roll." According to the U.K. tabloid The Mirror, her latest masterpiece features Britney teasingly flashing a cell phone number and the name "Ben" scrawled on her hand. Hmm, could she be referring to J.Lo's slave Ben Affleck? If you believe the rumors, supposedly Brit and Ben were all over each other last year at The Sunset Room in Los Angeles and sources claim she winded up with nothing but her Underoos during a game of strip poker with Ben at a friend's house. Let's just hope Loopy Lopez doesn't get a chance to see Britney's latest slap back at Justin -- Ben will never hear the end of it! DRAMA! |
Can’t Say Names:
What R&B diva recently got a rude awakening when her record company told her that her husband could not produce her entire upcoming album. Apparently, said singer’s label was unhappy with some of the tracks the diva’s hubby produced and sent her back into the studio with a couple of other producers. Shockingly, a regular production powerhouse that normally produces on the diva’s album won’t be used at all this time as well. Could this be carryover from that family tiff? Could this be Brandy? At first I thought Toni Braxton, but then I realized it HAS to be Brandy? *What R&B diva turned wanna-be gospel star is ready to give up on her hopes of singing inspirational melodies because she can’t seem to land a major record deal or book any dates. Unlike other R&B stars like Shirley Murdock, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Dru Hill’s Woody Rock, and Howard Hewett, the gospel industry gave this R&B one-hit-wonder the cold shoulder and now she’s ready to throw in the towel. Her affiliation with a rumored blacklisted gospel star hasn’t done much to help the situation either. Who dis is? |

Seems like Michelle Williams was a one-hit wonder too. She was AWFUL live. (Lawd, don't strike me down, but YOU know she was.) :o |
Oh FATHER
* Hollywood sex kitty Vivica Fox had to put in nearly a year of training for Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film "Kill Bill." The recently divorced actress has now landed a deal to produce and star in a Showtime revamping of the vintage lady detective series, "Get Christy Love." Fox is also developing a show with Tracy Edmonds and Edmonds Entertainment for the USA Network. She will executive produce the show that is tentatively titled “The Vivica Fox Show.” You can also catch the once soap star opposite Cuba Gooding Jr. in “Boat Trip,” which was released last weekend.
* Rolonda Watts, who also has a recurring role on “Days Of Our Lives,” will also appear on Fox's "Boston Public" in the coming weeks. Rolonda will play Monica Clemens, the mother to Tamyra Gray’s character Asia. Her name is really Aisha, Iesha, however yo peeps spell Eyeisha:p Also check for the former talk show host on "Live with Regis and Kelly" over the next two weeks. Ro is one of the three celebrity judges for their "Live American Co-Host,” where the winner gets to co-host alongside Regis Philbin, in addition to a $10,000 development deal with Buena Vista Television and a one-year contract with television agency NS Bienstock. * Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Epps (“Friday After Next”) are in talks to play Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton in Paramount's upcoming feature remake of “The Honeymooners.” |
4-1-1 ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 24, 2003
Keith Sweat, Gerald Levert, and Johhny Gill return as LSG with L-S-G-2 on June 24th. Voletta Wallace the Mother of the slain Rapper ‘The Notorious B.I.G.’ says she wants his ex lover Rapper Lil Kim to leave her son alone. Ms Wallace says Kim needs to leave her son alone and get on with her life. She says she’s tired of reading bad things about her son. Kim is promoting her new LP and in interviews she claims that Biggie gave her a black eye, pulled a gun on her and made her have an abortion. Ms Wallace says and I quote “If my son had pulled a gun on Lil Kim I wish he had blown her brains out…I’m sick of Lil Kim” (DAMN!!!!!!!) Yeah Kim it’s time to give it up..stop talking about Biggie and move on with your life. Singer Brian McKnight says he and his wife divorced after 13 years of marriage because they were no longer happy together. Brain surprised a lot of people with the news of his divorce. Supermodel Naomi Campbell is going to play a stripper in the movie ‘Go Go Tales’ Is the romance over between Rapper Jay Z and Beyonce? They were photographed having a cozy lunch one week after it was announced that they broke up. Philly’s own Rapper/Actress Eve is getting her own show on the UPN Network. Eve is going to play a fashion designer looking for love. (Afrochic's sidenote: Um no, I hate the idea already. Just because you hollered about someone drinking your apple juice, doesn't mean you will be able to hold my attention with your acting for 30 mins in a sitcom.) Eve is also coming out with a Fashion Line called ‘Fetish’. Monique will be starring in the movie ‘Beauty Shop’. Monique plays a stylist working in a hair shop while trying to escape the IRS. Actress Jennifer Lewis will be starring in ‘Nora’s Hair Salon’. The movie will also star Tamala Jones, Bobby Brown and Tatyana Ali. (Afrochic's sidenote: What's up with all these beauty barbershop themes?) The music group Dru Hill is being sued by their former manager. Kevin Peck claims the group bilked him out of a fortune in management fees by breaking their contract with him. Dru Hill is back with a new LP and a great new song called ‘I Love You’. Larenz Tate returns to the big screen in the movie ‘A Man Apart’. Vin Diesel also stars in it; the movie opens in theatres on April 14th. Bernie Mac is on the cover of GQ Magazine. Get ready for Bernie the movie star his new movie with Chris Rock opens in theatres on Friday. This summer he will be co-starring in the new Charlie’s Angels movie. Bernie talks about the state of his TV Show in the new TV Guide. Bernie opens up about the co creator of his show getting fired. Bernie says both sides were too stubborn. Larry says Fox is not behind the show and keeps preempting it for other shows. I agree with Larry why do they keep preempting Bernie’s show and Cedric the Entertainer. This week the show is being preempted as they debut the new comedy show from Wanda Sykes. Now speaking of Cedric he’s set to star in a black version of The Honeymooners. Remember the comedy classic? Jackie Gleason and Art Carney played Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton. Comedian Mike Epps is set to co-star with Cedric. Singer Naomi Judd says she sorry for comments she made as a judge on the CBS Talent Show Star Search. Naomi says she would never utter a racial slur and she apologizes for calling a performer a funky monkey and for stating that she loves it when white people tap dance. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown went on a shopping spree and they brought 140 thousand dollars in diamonds and jewelry. Whitney’s new CD is not selling but that is not stopping her from spending. Whitney signed a 100 million dollar recording contract with Arista Records and I’m sure at the end of the year someone will have to answer for this loss. I hear Pop Singer Billy Joel is drinking again. Over the past year Billy had totaled two Mercedes Benz and he did a stint in Rehab. Friends say it’s only wine but many feel he shouldn’t be drinking anything Queen Latifah didn’t bring home an Oscar but her movie ‘Bringing down the House’ is the No. 1 movie in the country for the third straight week. Queen Latifah looked fabulous at the Academy Awards and she sung very well. Queen Latifah lost out to her Chicago co-star Catherine Zeta Jones. The musical Chicago took the top honors for the night as it was honored with the Best Picture Award. Actor Adrian Brody won Best Actor for his role in ‘The Pianist’. As he accepted his award he shocked the hell out of Halle Berry when he gave her a tongue kiss on stage. To say Halle was shocked was an understatement. Nicole Kidman won best Actress for her role in ‘The Hours’. Roman Polanski picked up the Best Director Award for ‘The Pianist’. Polanski did not attend the ceremony he is still wanted for arrest on a rape charge. Years ago Roman was accused of statutory rape involving a 13 year old girl. Enimen skipped the ceremony and no one performed his nominated song but he was a big winner as he walked away with the Oscar for Best Song. The song ‘Lose Yourself’ is featured in his movie ‘8 Mile’. In other movie news the Cuba Gooding Jr. movie ‘Boat Trip’ with Vivica A. Fox did not do well it only made 3.7 million at the box office. |
“Soul Food” star Rockmond Dunbar not only celebrated a recent birthday, but the talented actor also announced his engagement to model Ivy Holmes. Yes, before I get e-mails from women who want to know, Ivy is a sister. The happy couple announced their engagement at a party at the Los Angeles hotspot Cinebar. Friends, family, and Rockmond’s costars Malinda Williams and Nicole Ari Parker were on-hand to help celebrate.

As for Voletta, I give her props WITHOUT SUPPORTING the "blow her brains" comment. I am tired of Kim ranting and raving about Biggie. LET IT GO!! HE WAS NOT YOUR MAN!! So while Kim is throwing up props and wishing that she would have had the baby, Faith has the baby and is getting paid every time you hear a Biggie song, sample, snippet, video, etc. |
I remember reading in Ebony about a year and a half ago about Brian McKnight and the problems he was having in his marriage. At that time, they were giving it another try. It looked like they were doomed a while ago.

Short range
http://www.pagesix.com/photos/pg6032603f.jpg INTENSE negotiations between Shaquille O'Neal and Mercedes Benz broke down, and the 7-foot star of the L.A. Lakers never got a test-drive in the new $350,000 Maybach. Mercedes marketing execs had two of the cars available Oscar week. Shaq, eager to please his wife, had tried to get a chauffeur-driven Maybach to take her and her girlfriends around on Oscar Eve. But when it was learned the odyssey would range as far as Pasadena, a shortage of wheels developed. In fact, only 500 Maybachs will be distributed this year in the U.S. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had one for Oscar night. http://www.pagesix.com/photos/pg6032603g.jpg Unforgiven BERNIE Mac may have a hit with his Fox show, but the guy knows how to hold a grudge. Interviewed by GQ, Mac went off on his old mentor Steve Harvey, who got him involved with "The Kings of Comedy." The mag noted several years ago that someone representing Steve Harvey called ["Ocean's Eleven" director] Steven Soderbergh's office and asked him to reconsider the casting of Bernie Mac. The caller argued that Steve Harvey was more popular. "Man," Bernie says, "I heard about that. I was told about it. You know these people. Are you surprised? It's always about him." |
Ralph Sampson doesn't pay
Former hoops star Ralph Sampson charged with failing to pay child support
By BILL RANKIN The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Former basketball star Ralph Sampson appeared in federal court in Atlanta today on charges he failed to pay more than $51,000  in child support for two children. Sampson, 42, was indicted last week in Richmond for failing to pay $21,628 in child support for a daughter who lives in Fairmouth, Va., according to court documents unsealed today. He also is charged separately for failing to pay $29,542 in child support for another daughter who lives in Charlottesville, Va. The former NBA center now lives in Sandy Springs. Wearing a gray suit and white button-down shirt, the slender 7-foot-4 Sampson towered above his lawyer and other court officials during a brief hearing. Sampson once starred for the University of Virginia and was the first pick of the 1983 draft by the Houston Rockets. He turned himself in to federal authorities this morning and was held in custody until this afternoon's court hearing. He was released on $40,000 bond, to be secured by his parents' home in Harrisburg, Va. During the hearing, Sampson was represented by a federal defender who said Sampson a few days ago paid all the child support he owes with a wire transfer. "He's made full payment," federal defender Jake Waldrop said. "The money's there to be dispersed. He wants to put this behind him." Assistant U.S. Attorney Candace Howard said she was unsettled upon learning that Sampson has had no fixed address over the past year. "That concerns me," she told U.S. Magistrate Alan Baverman during a bond hearing. But Waldrop said Sampson has never made any attempt to conceal his residential address from anyone. The lawyer said Sampson will appear in court to answer the charges in Richmond on April 7 and in Charlottesville on April 9. "Mr. Sampson is going to show up and be a man of his word," Waldrop told the judge. "His whole focus and purpose by turning himself in this morning is to put this behind him." According to court documents, Sampson was paid $539,060 in 1999 and $134,765 in 2000 by the Sacramento Kings. In 2001, he earned $11,207 while employed by a number of organizations, including NBA Entertainment, records show. |
March 27, 2003 -- The 11-year-old son of rap impresario Damon Dash was busted after bringing what he said was his father's pot to school and showing it to his teacher, his mom told The Post yesterday.
"He told on his father. He didn't like what was happening," said Linda Williams. "I know he shouldn't have brought the pot to school." Dash and Williams are embroiled in a bitter custody battle over the youngster. The boy now lives with his father, who has a home in Manhattan and previously lived in Alpine, N.J. His mom, who lives in Freeport, L.I., is seeking custody. The bizarre show-and-tell took place on March 10, Williams said, when the sixth-grader told his teacher at an Alpine school he was unhappy his father was smoking pot - then displayed it. On March 14, four days after the teacher turned him in, Dash removed his son from the school. The boy, whose name is being withheld, is facing a drug-possession charge after the teacher called cops. He is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court in Hackensack, according to his mother. Dash was arrested yesterday on a warrant for "absconding with a subject child" after Williams claimed he had told her he was taking the boy to live in California. He was freed after appearing in Manhattan Family Court. A trial date was set for April 3. Dash, whose Roc-A-Fella empire is worth $300 million, could not be reached for comment *********************************************** 'Fresh Prince's' Tatyana Ali Fresh princess By Serena Kappes PEOPLE Wednesday, March 26, 2003 Posted: 12:34 PM EST (1734 GMT) Tatyana Ali says a recent reunion with her former castmates at the wedding of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" star Karyn Parsons "was like time had just not passed at all"; (inset) Ali in 1990. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (PEOPLE) -- Taking an extended hiatus from the entertainment business isn't usually a career-enhancing move. But for Tatyana Ali, who grew up before America's eyes as Ashley Banks on the hit sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," the decision to focus on college has gotten her some extra attention. "I was away for so long and not in any of the casting rooms that when I go in there, they're like, 'Oh my God -- you're an adult!' " she explains. Ali, now 24, wasn't sure whether she wanted to return to acting full time when she entered Harvard University in the fall of 1998, just two years after "Fresh Prince" ended its six-year run. But in her junior year, while producing a fashion show with some classmates, she had an epiphany. "I realized that I knew so much about putting on shows, and I was like, You know what? It'd be stupid not to continue on the path that I'm going for. Why be scared? I can do this. I can be an entertainer and have skills behind the scenes too." After graduating from Harvard in June with a degree in government, Ali began pursuing acting with renewed vigor. She has two upcoming films: the slapstick "College Sex Comedy" and the independent "dramedy" "Nora's Hair Salon," in which she costars with Bobby Brown. Of the latter film, Ali says, "It's the biggest part I've ever played in a movie. I have a lot more responsibility than I've ever had before." But she feels prepared for the challenge. As a child, "I was a ham," the native of North Bellmore, New York, says with a laugh. "I always wanted to entertain people and sing and dance." At age 5 she auditioned for and signed on with manager Aggie Gold, who soon booked the young actress in commercials for products such as Children's Tylenol. Ali then made regular appearances on PBS's "Sesame Street." |
THE KEYBOARDIST
By RUSSELL SCOTT SMITH -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adrien "A. Ranger" Brody lays down tracks in the studio with P. Diddy. - Elizabeth Lippman/Splash March 27, 2003 -- JUST call him A. Ranger. Adrien Brody's surprise Oscar triumph Sunday night will certainly transform his acting career, but the 29-year-old Queens native - who's long been moonlighting as a hip-hop producer under the name A. Ranger - has equally high hopes for his music. "Adrien is a fanatic," deejay Stretch Armstrong, one of Brody's musician friends, told The Post. "Music is just as important to him as acting." Word on the street is he's pretty good, too. Brody has played some demo tracks - which often marry heavy urban beats to Japanese or Middle Eastern music - for his pals P. Diddy and Jay-Z, and the rap world high rollers expressed interest in sampling them for their own songs. Such an endorsement would be the equivalent of that gold statuette for Brody the mix master. "He'd love to use his new power to work on the music for his movies," says Sky Nellor, another Manhattan deejay, who dated Brody for a few years and remains a close friend. Brody certainly isn't the first movie star to want to make music - other actor-musicians include Keanu Reeves, Dennis Quaid and Brody's fellow Oscar-winner Russell Crowe - but unlike those guitar-slingers, Brody's axe of choice is a Korg Triton sampling keyboard. Friends say Brody can recite entire raps by some of his favorite emcees, such as 50 Cent, Nas or Biggie Smalls. And whenever he gets the chance, Brody loves to go clubbing. "We go out downtown, anyplace there's a good deejay and attractive girls," says Armstrong. Some favorites include Tribeca Grand Hotel and Spa. "You wouldn't recognize him in a club. He's completely on the low. Bobbing with his head to the music, probably with a hoodie on." "Adrien is a really good dancer," says a New York scenester who dated Brody briefly last year. "He's an attractive guy, you know. And he dances totally chill. He looks cool." He's even taken his own turn on the decks - on Valentine's Day last year, Brody deejayed with Armstrong and soul singer Joi at Joe's Pub on Lafayette Street. Just don't expect him to do it again any time soon. "Deejaying live isn't really Adrien's thing," says his lawyer, Michael Guido, who's introduced him to hip-hop bigs like Roc-A-Fella's Damon Dash and Def Jam's Lyor Cohen. "He wants to be in the studio, producing tracks and working with rappers." Brody already has one cut out there - "This Ain't a Movie," on the soundtrack to his 1998 indie flick "Restaurant." Brody recorded it as A. Ranger and got the Rawcotiks to rap over it. Though it sounds a little like Eminem, Marshall Mathers probably doesn't have to worry about the competition - Brody hasn't put out another song since. Still, "Adrien was crazy excited about it," Nellor says. "That was his first taste of recording, and he wants more." Brody is so devoted to his music, he even worked on it during the grueling six-month European shoot for "The Pianist." As he was preparing to play a Holocaust victim, director Roman Polanski wanted Brody to feel what it's like to lose everything. So he sold his car, got rid of his Manhattan apartment, broke up with Nellor and went on a crash diet to lose 30 pounds from his 160-pound frame. "That Korg Triton was the one thing he kept," Nellor recalls. "He carted it from Paris to Berlin to Warsaw." Brody used the keyboard to study the Chopin pieces he mimed in the film - and to compose a lot of his own music. "Adrien was really affected by the movie, so [the music he made is] interesting, dark, gloomy stuff," says Armstrong, who compares Brody's "Pianist"-era tracks to the rich, syrupy trip-hop of Britain's Portishead and Tricky. Now that Brody owns an Oscar, it might be hard for him to carve out time for his hobby. "He definitely wants to devote more time to his musical side," Guido says. "But now every film director is going to be calling him. We'll see if he has the time." |

In 'Living' memory
Comic Robert Schimmel was a writer in 1990 for "In Living Color," the hilarious show that starred the Wayans brothers, Jim Carrey, and Jennifer Lopez as a Fly Girl dancer. Schimmel wasn't laughing, though, when he recently ran into J.Lo. He revealed the humbling encounter on WHFS' morning "Junkies" radio show in Washington, D.C., last week. "The writers used to eat with the dancers and the crew every day," said Schimmel. "Lunch and dinner for, like, a year. So I used to eat with Jennifer Lopez every night. And we'd crack jokes together, I mean all the writers and her and the girls. "So I see her in a restaurant in L.A. and I said, 'Hey Jennifer, how ya doin'?' And she said, 'Who are you?' "I said, 'Robert Schimmel,'" the comic recounted. "And she said, 'Do I know you?' "I said, 'Do you know me?! You ate, like, lunch and dinner with me for a year during 'In Living Color.'" And she said, "I don't remember anybody from 'In Living Color.'" Schimmel, not to be dissed or dismissed, replied: "Well, I'd get a checkup if I were you, because that wasn't too long ago, and if you can't remember that it could be the beginning of Alzheimer's disease." A pal of Lopez tells us she is still friends with Keenen Ivory Wayans and some of her fellow dancers. |
