Academy Awards 2003
I guess the show does go on...
Thoughts on the Oscars show? It seems sort of fake and subdued this year, like they are trying to be somber to be appropriate. Maybe that will change as the show goes on. |
Everyone looks like crap!
|
Well, the two minutes I watched it, Kate HUdson was bangin.....
|
everyone doesnt look like crap. nicole, halle, catherine, and jennifer garner look incredible!!!!!!! then again i am not surprised. i am glad the show went on. it represents that i dont want my life to stop moving because we had to war.
if i still have to go to school then everyone else has to live their life too. haha;) |
My roommate's brother's short film won an oscar tonight!! I'm proud!!
|
Did you see Adrian Brody make out with Halle Berry when he accepted his Oscar?
That was so funny!!! |
..........................Scorcese shafted again....................
For ROman polanski The Academy never ceases to amaze me............ |
CHICAGO won!!!!!!!
|
BTW, does anyone besides me think that ROman should be a man and face up to what he did?
|
Halle Berry looks amazing, like always. Will someone please let Catherine Zeta-Jones sit down? Dang, the woman is like 189 months pregnant - stop parading her around the stage!
Steve Martin was funny. WTG to Michael Moore and his speech. The guy from Y Tu Mama Tambien? H-O-T-T-I-E. I'm going to have to put a hold on that movie at my local video store. |

He made a fool of himself and was treated appropriately by being booed. |
Thoughts....
I thought Susan Sarandon was elegantly appropriate in her call for peace, as well as Adrien Brody. Michael Moore was absurd and deserved the boos he received. Eminem with an Oscar...wow Lots of nice dresses, but Julianne Moore's stylist should be fired. |
Ok, WTF did Micheal Moore say? I wasn't watching at the point
|

Surprisingly (and appropriately) he recieved boos and catcalls for his idiotic speech. Wrong time, wrong place. |

I really enjoyed the show this year. What was up with all the nude colored dresses, though? They were beautiful, but the color wasn't flattering on most.
I thought Julianne Moore looked absolutely stunning. Itwas really such a thrill to see Olivia DeHavilland up on stage. She really is still beautiful. And Jennifer jones? I didn't even know she was still alive. Luise Rainier, as weel. I think that was my favorite part of the show. |

the celebrities said that they are choosing nude colors out of respect for the war. they wanted to stay away from bright vibrant colors.
i thought nicole kidman looked absolutely incredible. my jaw dropped. |
OK, steve martin said it perfectly in the beginning of the show when he said "So much for all the glitz!". The stars were all dressed to the nines...so much for whatever they said they were going to wear, eh?
Renee Zellwigger looked FABULOUS in the red!!! And so did Nicole Kidman. Julianne Moore is stunning, but that dress was awful, as was Jennifer Garner's. She looked like a sausage stuffed in a too small casing!! And she's not fat!!! Get a new stylist honey. As for J Lo, take some speaking lessons!! And props to Eminem!!! :) All in all, not a thrilling show.... |

I thought they were doing away with the red carpet though? |
yeah, I heard that too. Guess not. Joan Rivers must have had her tear ducts put back in so she could cry about it. Isn't that like, her ONLY job? She bugs.
I thought the show was good. I liked the color of Juliane Moore's dress but not all the ruffles down the front. Oh! And when Chris Cooper cried when thanking his wife... aww! Michael Moore - not even going to go there. Adrian Brody - can you believe thats the same guy from Son Of Sam? He was so cute with his mohawk in that movie! And Renee. Honey, get yourself some Popeye's! That dress was gorgeous but did anyone else notice how the straps LITERALLY hung from bones in her shoulders? Bulemia kills, people. I feel like her life story is going to be a Lifetime afterschool special in 20 years. |
My .02
It's crazy that Scorcese STILL hasn't won an Oscar. I was sure he would this year, especially with the fact that Polanski has already won one. The Academy has a history of giving Oscars to people for not-so-great performances because they've screwed them before (see Julia Roberts for "Erin Brockovich" after she should have won for "Pretty Woman," or Russell Crowe for "Gladiator" after he should have won for "The Insider."), so I'm confused why Scorcese didn't get one. Adrian Brody probably deserved to win - from what I've heard, his performance was incredible, and it's good to see an underdog win. I would have liked to see Daniel Day Lewis win, but he's got one already so might as well spread the wealth. Collin |
My Oscar Thoughts
-Michael Moore wrong time, wrong place. Buy a one way ticket to France! How ironic was it that "Twin Towers" one the Short Story Documentary Oscar right after that. Steve martin did a great job covering up.
-Loved seeing all the past Oscar winners on the stage. What a great mix of winners!!! They were all very beautiful!!! -Julie Andrews is so awesome! Great standing ovation! THE HILLS ARE ALIVE....:D -What a shock that Adrian Brody won! Everyone had been picking Jack Nicholson to win! Then, what a speech he gave!!! WOW!!! He was so eloquent! -Eminem wins an Oscar that Barbara Streisand announces. (I'm speechless on this one!) just my .02 |

I agree 150%...Scorcese was robbed..Gangs of New York was a wonderfully and incredibly well done film..while I don't doubt that The Pianist was extraordinary as well.. Scorcese really deserved to win.. Did GONY even win a single oscar? I was also really shocked the John C. Reilly didn't win for best supporting actor..C'mon now..he was in THREE out of the FIVE movies nominated for best film..what does that tell you..Chris Cooper was good in adaptation, but I think that John C. Reilly deserved it more.. |
No, it didn't

I thought that Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta Jones, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Garner looked beautiful.
The red on Renee is gorgeous, the green on Julianne was amazing and the icy blue on Jennifer was great. I watched "Y tu mama tambien" with my mom a few weeks ago. We had heard it was funny and that was it. Well, it has a couple of vulgar scenes, starting off with the very first scene. Anyway, my mom and I laughed almost all the way through because it was so vulgar, that it was funny! |
|
Adrien Brody is from Queens and went to school with me. He was in the lower (grammar) school when I was in upper (high) school. Funny thing is he looks exactly the same as he did when he was a little boy. :D
Nicole Kidman looked gorgeous and gave a very sweet speech. I thought the Queen looked beautiful. Steve Martin was funny and kept the show moving. :D |
you guys still watch award shows? Oscar is so boring, I was about to hang myself till Michael Moore, he made it interesting.
If I won an oscar, I would've thank myself, and just walk off the stage. |
*See above picture of Jennifer Garner*
Beautiful color, beuatiful dress - but you should never have "quadra-boob"! For the men - that's when your outfit is too tight and your breast smooshes up and over the top of the material, creating 4 boobs. Not attractive. She should have loosened up the top a bit and it would have been perfect! |
The Michael Moore speech:
Since everyone was wondering................
http://www.oscar.com/oscarnight/winners/win_32297.html ACCEPTANCE SPEECH Michael Moore: Whoa. On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much. |

"Gangs" was utterly robbed. There had to be a better offering this year than "Chicago". My picks were "Gangs", "The Pianst" then "Chicago". Shows what I know!
Scorcese was shafted, and that pissed me off. Still will go out and buy the film when it hits dvd. Loved it, absolutely loved it. Michael Moore pissed me off. He did a lot of damage to the cause of peace in this country. Now Bono, with that subtle lyric chance during "Hands That Built America", that was class. I still can't figure out how he lost to bloody Eminem of all people. Nicole Kidman looked fabulous, as did Halle. But she is always gorgeous. I'm pleased Nicole took home the best actress nod. Adrien Brody's speech, especially telling the orchestra to stop playing, was definitely a highlight, as was Peter O'Toole's honors. ~Emma |

I have no idea why Jennifer Garner isn't a bigger star than she is. She totally kicks booty every week on Alias (you're all watching it, aren't you? If not - THEN WHY THE HELL NOT? :D), and she seems like a very classy woman.
