Party ideas

I am a brother from UNO
I need some ideas for a party......
please help me out, we have done just about all the noraml ones

GammaZeta 02-15-2005 02:47 PM

Ahhh the party theme, maybe I can help you out.

My personal favorite was always the pimp and hoes party. Then there was heaven and hell, shorties and forties, pajama night, 80's night, handcuff party, multi-movie themes, casino night, and so on...

I'll need a little more info on what type of party you are planning, like # of people, budget, place, etc.

IDZ868 02-15-2005 02:53 PM

Hey GammaZeta,

We have about 100-120 at our hall and we have a slim budget, but we might beable to sqeeze some funds.
We have done almost all of those except handcuffs and shorties.....got any other ideas.
E-mail me some more if you could too poriley@mail.unomaha.edu

Tom Earp 02-15-2005 06:06 PM

LXA_idz851 02-15-2005 06:07 PM

For a cafe i think it would be pretty cool if you did a ceo's and corporate hoe's party. Guy's dress up nice, girls could dress up like skanky coffee shop girls or something.

KEG RACES!!!!!!!!!!!*

*It is against Lambda Chi Alpha policy to have readily available, large amounts of alcohol (such as kegs) at any brotherhood event.

Party Theme

GammaZeta,

So do you have any Ideas? We need help bad......any other brothers have some ideas?

Thanks Fellas

GammaZeta 02-17-2005 02:24 PM

Like I said...KEG RACES!!!! (kidding)

Is this like a PARTY party, or like a semi-formal?

You could always do a "Sweet Dreams" party where everyone has to wear pajamas (or something a little more revealing). There's alot of great ideas I have for that party with decorations, drinks, etc.

Or if it's more formal, have a Purple, Gold and Green ball. You could deck the entire hall out in those colors very cheaply. You would be surprised at how much $50 can get you at a fabric store. And you could serve purple, gold and green martinis! I have the recipes if you want, ex: green is vodka and apple pucker (just an appletini).

Personally I used to love the handcuff party, but it was mostly that the sororities would throw them, but it could work with the fraternity throwing it. You go to the dollar store and buy a ton of those cheap toy plastic handcuffs.

Now there's several ways of doing this:
When you and your date arrive (more formal) you get handcuffed to each other for the night,

or if it's more of a party party, the girls can buy (or you can just give them) the handcuffs, and every 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes (whatever you feel like) have the dj announce that its time to let the guys go and the girls move on to handcuff another guy.

I've been to some great Heaven and hell parties, and all you need is some paper, orange and red spraypaint, cottonballs, red light bulbs, and a few other things. We used to spend about $30 on decorations and the entire house actually looked like hell in the basement and heaven upstairs.

Another favorite was a tee-shirt party. Usually this is with a couple fraternities and sororities. Go to Walmart and buy like 100 t-shits. It'll actually be pretty damn cheap, or just have everyone wear an old one. Buy a ton of markers, all different colors and sizes, and have them through the house. Everyone goes around leaving messages, signing and doing stupid things to everyone elses t-shirts. This gave the guys a great excuse to get a little grabby with the girls and the girls never complained! (they all really liked it because it gave them an excuse to be a little slutty). I actually saved 2 or 3 of the shirts from the different parties. It works really well with a sorority you are close with.

We used to have some great parties. I'll try to think of some more things.

Actually if you can swing it a 'graffiti' party is great when you light everything with blacklights and use highliters instead of markers - the colours glow and there is more selection to choose from... also covering the walls in paper works wonders too...

GammaZeta 02-17-2005 04:03 PM

Good idea RA, we never though of that! We used to use the 3 foot long industrial blacklights for parties. They should still carry them at Home Depot. We would then buy the industrial light fixtures, the kind you see in garages, pretty cheap. Two of the light fixtures (holding the 4 long blacklights) would light up a huge room.

We actually just had a graffiti party in january. We called it Playas ball and spraypainted 3 of the walls in the partying area and had blacklights all over. We kinda did the same thing for our mardi gras party with beads so I think were kind of playing out the graffiti. It is pretty fun though.

NSUCHOP302 02-24-2005 12:52 AM

This so called Graffiti Party, we don't have a chapter house here, but we use one of our brothers houses, and we attach black visqueen to all the walls, so it is completely black, and then splatter laundry detergent, and dishsoap everywhere. Then we do like you guys said blacklights everywhere, that way the walls and stuff are glowing with splattered detergent, and we do the classic white t shirt and highlights. Lots of fun, always a favorite party here on campus, the black visqueen works great but mostly everyone has houses and it would be expensive to visqueen the house.

The best party theme we had worked out so well the first time that we had a sequel about two years later. It was an 80s themed party that we first had in November 1997 and was called "Fast Times at Lambda Chi". Since the vast majority of us lived in the past already it was really easy to find a bunch of 80s music to play the entire party. The shirts were great too. We had the Fast Times at Ridgemont High logo on the left front area, then in the back we had an 80s picture of Christie Brinkley with a catchy saying around it.

That's still my favorite shirt from my active days, though I no longer wear it since it's part of my memorabilia collection now.

The best one we had this year was the Animal Hunters Invite- Girls dress as animals, guys dress as hunters.

And i want to trademark this idea, but we were sitting around drinking one day and came up with a Disney Mixer! I have never seen so many hot girls, and for guys its easy to dress the part. Dress like a Disney character, and the girls love it. I have never seen so many hot/slutty princesses EVER!

blacklight/graffiti is always cool

I also thought of a Clothes Swap Mixer where each brother and sister would pair up and "Swap Clothing" a day or two before the mixer and wear each others clothes. Yet instead of wearing their real clothes, you'd purchse some kind of outfit for them, weather it was a monkey suit, paper bags, underwear, etc. you'd basically be dressing them up for the night in whatever you wanted to.

A mixer you can do to go along with the Canned Food Drives is have a Homeless Mixer. Everyone dresses homeless (holes in the shirts, old sweatshirts, carry your beer in a trash bag instead of case, come to the house in a shopping cart instead of your car, etc) Plus, require that the entry to the party is 5 canned food items. A mixer with a decent sorority will bring in 500-800 cans easily.

We did a Heaven and Hell Hall Crawl. It was a dinner function, where everyone either dressed in Blue and White or in Black and Red. The girls looked amazing! We went to Ham's and had a nice BBQ and Rib buffet dinner and then back to the house where the Basement was Hell, and the Study (3rd floor) was Heaven. There were nasty hard drinks downstairs like Soco, Jager, Tequllia, Aristicrat Rum and then nice drinks upstairs like Margaritas, Coke and Rum, Wine. We had PJ in the kitchen and Dance Floor afterwards(2nd floor) I honestly think everyone went to Heaven and Hell so fast that we all left by 12AM that night

Jamacian Me Crazy is easy but lame.

i have a whole list of them if you want them. talk to the consultant when he comes. he had some funny ones like a MUSTACHE MIXER. Where everyone grew facial hair a few weeks leading up to the party then shaved it in various forms and dress the part, there was a gay biker, mario and luigi, a cop, etc. and the girls dress with the guys (ex princess with mario and luigi)

GammaZeta 11-25-2006 01:19 AM

"Where everyone grew facial hair a few weeks leading up to the party then shaved it in various forms and dress the part"

Man, what do you put in the town drinking water? I would NEVER go to a mixer where there were women who could grow mustaches.

Seriously, if your mixers involve women with the ability to grow significant facial hair, then I think the THEME is the LAST of your concerns!!!

yeah, cause princess peach has a mustache.....

"everyone" was ment by "all the brothers''. is the gamma zeta chapter at a retard university or something? or do you just not have any common sense yourself?

GammaZeta 11-25-2006 09:33 AM

A retard university? Great comeback! What, are you going to call me a stupid face next and then try to steal my fruit snacks at recess? Grow up kid.

And if you want to talk about common sense:

"There were nasty hard drinks downstairs like Soco, Jager, Tequllia, Aristicrat Rum and then nice drinks upstairs like Margaritas, Coke and Rum, Wine."

Yeah, great job there buddy. Let's post all about the LXA sponsored booze that was at a brotherhood event on a public forum that many members of IHQ read on a daily basis. BRILLIANT!!! Why don't you just mail copies of the receipts from the liquor store and pictures of the alcohol directly to IHQ and the Grand High Zeta?

And if you're too stupid to realize what I said was a joke, maybe you should rethink what you are doing at a place of higher learning.

SUPDOH 11-25-2006 12:30 PM

ok, i know when i am wrong.
