what kind of car do you have???

i am trying to cheer myself up after the last thread i posted. i got this thread idea from the alpha kappa alpha forum (those girls have the best sense of humor by the way). i thought that i should bring it over here...

what kind of car do you have? (color, make, model, year....)
what kind of condition is it in?
do you like it?

I drive a dark blue 2001 toyota celica

Considering the fact that there was 6 miles on it when I got in 2000 (back when almost nobody had that car now it is everywhere!!!!!!!) and it has over 58,400 miles on it now and I have gotten a new set of tires twice. It is still in fantastic condition besides this annoying sound that it makes occasionally. I have taken good care of the interior. It still looks brand new!
It is really good with gas too. I think it is 28/31 miles per gallon. I filled up my tank last sunday (i topped it off too) and I still have over half a tank left!:D
My car is my buddy even though it has given me 6 traffic tickets. I still love it

what about you?

Roseblum15 03-09-2003 11:53 PM

I have a 1986 Plymoth Horizon, it was originally light blue but is now more just rust. It has around 150,000 miles on it now. It is still a pretty good car, but its starting to get run down. It does not like to go on the highway and then stop at the stop lights on the exit ramps. It likes to stall when its stopped after going fast. Thats the biggest complaint I have about it though. Overall I think it has been a pretty good car. Well worth the 500 dollars I payed for it.

OrigamiTulip 03-09-2003 11:57 PM

I do not have a car, which up until recently suited me fine. But now I find its a pain in the ass, so I've started saving up to buy an old beater.

PrincessHeather 03-10-2003 12:33 AM

I'm a buuuuuuummmmmm! I just turned my car in due to the lease being over. ( I didn't want to buy it even though I loved it. I regret it now. long story we won't go there) But I had...

a 2000 Silver VW Beetle. It was so cute! It had a spoiler and a very cute Phi Sig sticker & I designed it my self. (gotta love those lil carts at the mall) I was spoiled with my lil beetle too. it had a sun roof, leather heated seats, and tinted windows (man I was a pimp! j/k)

But now that I am a bum, anyone want to drive me around????

I am a city girl, so I am carless. But, with gas prices being the way they are, I'm okay with that! :D Plus, walking to Whole Foods (and class, when I have the motivation) is a workout in and of itself!

DZHBrown 03-10-2003 01:00 AM

I'm not happy with my car right now!!!

I have a white 1995 Cavalier with 122K miles on it. It's worth about $2000 tops. Guess how much work I put into it this past month....$3000!!!!! But I have no way to get another car, so I'm stuck. Grrrr

AOIIalum 03-10-2003 01:26 AM

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. It's a dark metallic blue with a couple of UK decals, an AOII alumna decal no one can see because of the window tinting, and a Cheap Trick sticker. Makes me happy.

It's in okay condition, considering I have a family :D

I like it, I guess, but still would rather have a Honda Odyssey (really, I'd rather have a little Mercedes, but that's not Mom-practical!)

Maybe it's a California thing... my car is popular!

I drive a silver VW Beetle, too! But it's a 99, so a little different. I bought mine from a very wealthy KKG alum from UCLA (had the house on the cliffs of Santa Monica facing the Getty, etc.), and it was pretty packed when we got it. Only 17,500 miles, awesome rims, black leather interior, 6-disc changer, some really great security features, etc etc etc... I love my little baby! I get great mileage and lots of looks from cute boys... :-) Finally, a good car as compared to my first 4!!!!

mu_agd 03-10-2003 08:02 AM

i had a 2002 Honda CR-V that i absolutely loved... but i moved to a city and i don't need it because i take the t everywhere and parking's a pain in the butt, so i sold it to my parents... but i still get to drive it when i go home!

AlphaSigOU 03-10-2003 08:38 AM

Quite happy with my 1997 Ford Thunderbird 4.6L V-8 (last year for the original production T-Bird). Other than the fact it sucks gas, it's a pretty good highway cruiser. No Alpha Sig letter decal in back (yet), but I do sport emblems denoting my Masonic affiliations (Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Shriners). Back when I was living in Oklahoma, there were special Masonic license plates, but once I moved to Texas, had to get regulars - Texas does not (yet) have Masonic license plates. :(

OUlioness01 03-10-2003 09:26 AM

I have a 1996 Geo Metro that broke down on me twice last summer at the worst places it possibly could. So, it's not exactly in the best condition, it has 78,000 miles on it, and my dad won't let me drive it because the brakes make funny noises. Plus the airconditioning barely works and the windows have tendency to get dislodged and fall in. It doesn't matter though, I love my car.

No, does okay for gas... 21/24 or so.. It is however a Low-Emissions Vehicle.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-10-2003 01:29 PM

I don't have a car. I don't have a driver's license. I have a Metrocard. :)

dekeguy 03-12-2003 04:34 PM

Until recall to the Army I was driving a restored 1984 JAG XJ6 4.2 litre. British racing green with chocolate leather interior. Body is in excellent shape, the engine is a factory rebuild with 36K miles on it, and it has the old dual petrol tanks that one fills seperately. That car is fantastic. Right now it is in storage at my Dad's where he is keeping it in good shape for me. My brother restored a '64 Impala SS drop top. Fire engine red with white top and interior.
Currently it has a small (327) V8 but he says it has plenty of power and is a serious performer. My sister drives a Volvo wagon but is tired of being the tailgate picnic provider of choice so she has ordered a Morgan (4 cyl) which will be avaiulable in about 7 to 8 months. Its a dark blue with bone leather interior and top. The photo looks great and I think she will have the best of the lot when she takes delivery. Morgans are great!
For the foreseeable future my wheels will actually be tracks as I'll be flying my Troop guidon from an M1A2 Abrams MBT.

Now I have a 2002 Dodge Neon. People say it fits my personality. As my sorority president says: "Its little and cute just like you!" he he.

And of course my car is in great condition. Although currently its a little dirty. Its been raining off and on so i havent been able to give it a good wash but this weekend i think thats what i'll do

LeslieAGD 03-12-2003 05:21 PM

I have a '96 Jimmy. I love it, but the Air Conditioning is busted, which sucks in the summer time.

MoxieGrrl 03-12-2003 05:21 PM

A 2003 Honda Civic. As of yesterday.

I can't complain at all. My insurance is about half what it was on the '95 4Runner:confused: ..

Payments are lower also. There's enough headroom in there for me to put up one of the rear seats (they fold sideways against the wall) and bungee my bike (standing up) to it. Enough legroom to sit with my feet going straight up and down. Comfortable.. Even has drink holders for everyone:D

Fine call me a hippie then:cool:

how much did you spend on that bad boy?

Allie 03-12-2003 06:55 PM

2001
Ford Ranger
Cinnamon Red
Not ever 16,000 miles it her

Yes I drive a truck! :) I also hate the truck! There is no room for any passengers, or shopping bags, or anything but you and one other person. I also hate the way it drives and turns, and it's only a 4 cylinder!

But as much as I bitch about the truck, I love her so much that I named her (Yes I'm one of those people) Her name is BIG RED! Get it? LOL

that must be one tough decision:D ;)

amycat412 03-12-2003 07:38 PM

LOL Smiley. Its an advantage to being in your 30s, you have money. ha ha hahaha ha

For the record--about $130 a month is all the separates the Jetta (lowest priced) from the BMW convertible (Highest priced)

I have a 2000 Jetta GLX now that I love! But I won't buy it at lease end it just doesn't make sense to finance the $15K of payoff. I'd be paying $400 a month for a 4 year old car w no warranty...

When for $100 more, I could have NEW BMW.

Or for about $30 more, I could have new Jetta.

Cluey 03-12-2003 07:45 PM

I have a 2002 Supercharged Silver Nissan Xterra. It just had it's first birthday in February, so it's just starting to get broken in. You know the ones in the commercials that have people saying one million uses and counting? That's my car, exactly :)

I love everything about it EXCEPT the gas mileage, which has only started to bother me since the average premium gallon has gone up to $1.85.

Just be happy you don't live in northern cali. Gas around here is above $2.00 a gallon for regular! I think today it is actually $2.07, 2.17, and 2.27 (regular-premium) at one gas station I passed. This really sucks since I live a town away from school. I have to fill up once a week! Ouch

amycat412 03-12-2003 08:10 PM

$2.37 for premium in los angeles. :(

MoxieGrrl 03-12-2003 08:28 PM

amycat: My boss has that Mercedes, and absolutely loves it. It's a terrific car! (Not that I will own one in this 100 years, but I know it's a good car b/c the boss is a huge snob and wouldn't settle for anything but the best.)
