"If...
If you could've gotten into the college of your choice, which would it be? If you did get into the college of your choice, but had to attend your next choice, which would it be?
|
I was lucky enough to get accepted at and attend my first college choice which was South Carolina State.
But if my fiscal outlook would have been different I would have gone to Spelman. |
College of choice: Stanford University.
Next choice and attended: University of Southern California. |
I am lucky enough to attend my first choice: Morehouse
My second choice would have been Howard or Famu. |
spelman or howard...

I was accepted to all of my choices.
My first choice was Howard, but it was too far away. I wouldn't be able to come home "all" the time. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif That changed my mind QUICKLY, even though I had relatives in the area. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I attended Grambling because my father was a die-hard alumnus, so I did it to honor him and his family's legacy. It made me feel good (very comforting) to know that I was walking the same streets that he did as student. Now, I have that SAME passion about Grambling like he did. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif It was AWAY from home, but close enough as to where I could get home as often as I wanted. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I don't regret the decision that I made. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I got into all of the colleges that I applied to: NYU, Columbia, Georgetown, UNC - Chapel Hill, Spelman, University of Miami.
But, I chose Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University over all of them. FAMU!!! |
I was accepted at all my choices. I knew I wanted a State school, to get the in state tuition. My school was predominently white, but it was enough of us that you did not feel alone. we had every greek organization present. I wish I had known more about Black colleges back then, I would have loved to attend. I heard they were for the "upper-class blacks" and could be very snotty if you came from the wrong side of the tracks. Is that true? I just picture a campus full of Whitley's and I was definitely a KIM!

I got into my first choice of where I REALLY wanted to go for me, and I am there.
I also got into my first choice for I wanted to go just to say I was there: Spelman I got into Spelman, Howard, Rice, Baylor, UC-Berkley, Georgetown and all of the schools in the SWAC ------------------ Discretion is Key! Learn It, Live It. [This message has been edited by OhSoVeryLadylike (edited August 11, 2001).] |
I only applied to one school, and that was Wittenberg. It was my first choice. If I hadn't gotten accepted, Carnegie Mellon was my next choice.
|
I wish I had attended Howard. HU was not even a consideration while in HS but looking back I wish I had gone out of state.
|
One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't attend FAMU. I was accepted but was unable to go. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif
|
I got into my first choice, Hampton University. I was accepted at all of the schools that I applied. But chose and have been mightily blessed in going to my dearly beloved Hampton University! It has prepared me well for the grad work I've been doing.
|
I wanted to go to HOWARD, but unfortunately I wasn't able to... http://www.plauder-smilies.de/cry.gif |
Probably Princeton or Harvard....
but instead I went to the "Mecca" Howard U (the real HU)! [This message has been edited by ShakespareDST (edited August 13, 2001).] |
Looking back if I had a second choice it would be Hampton!
But I got into my first choice. Sphinxpoet |
If I could, I wish that I could have gone to Howard or Grambling. My goal is to get accepted into Howard's Law School when I finish my 4 year degree. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

My first choice was Southern University where I will be finally graduating this Fall.
However I applied and was accepted at Prairie View, Clark, FAMU, Grambling and Langston. I was leaning towards Clark, but SU was cheaper, I thank God I didnt go to Paraire View, Langston or Grambling, being from Cali I would not have been able to adjust to being out in the middle of "nowhere"! I got into Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Talladega. I went to Lincoln University (PA)
because it was the first black school in America and I needed to be emerced in an environment like that. No regrets... |

Aint nuthin wrong with it, ain't nuthin wrong. The sad part about it is, there are places that are in the middle of "somewhere", so to speak, but it's still "nowhere". http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif LMAO! |
As sad as it may seem, University of Minnesota was my first choice. I applied early, and got accepted, so I didn't apply anywhere else. I wish I would have mailed my application Duke. I also wish I had at least applied to an HBCU, but everything happens for a reason. I came here to study Pharmacy. At that time, the school was ranked 5 in the country. Now, after switching major's this school is even better. The HRD program is ranked 1 in the country.
I also would not have met my boyfriend, my best friend who is more like a sister to me, and of course my sorors..:) |
Both of my Parents graduated from Black Colleges (Tuskegee and Livingstone College). They had told me about the good as well as the bad experiences. So in high school I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a black college. I had football scholarship offers from Univ. of Maryland, Rutgers, Temple, Georgia Southern, Virginia Union and Morgan State Univ. I accepted the Scholarship to University of Md. But unfortunately the coach that recruited me had gotten fired during the spring semester. So I thought then, Georgia Southern. I visited the campus and discovered the "SOCIAL STATUS OF BLACK PEOPLE" in Eastern Georgia (If you catch my meaning). Needless to say I didn't like that. So Guess where I ended up? MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY! That's right a historically Black College. It was great.

I "almost" had the opportunity to attend Fisk University - but blew it when I told my mom I didn't want to take piano lessons anymore - All the while my music teacher was making plans for me to attend her alma mater
