Married By America
Anyone watch this show tonight? What are your thoughts?
It's not over with yet, so I'm reserving snarky comments until then. But I kinda don't think it's that crazy of an idea... |
I'm a bit overloaded on all the new reality tv. :\
|
It was... interesting, I guess.
I don't get why someone would go on a tv show to find their "soulmate." Everyone of those people on there went overboard on their comments (I just want to find my angel... I just want to be loved for who I am... I am sure that this is my destiny). I wanted to barf everytime they opened their mouths. You know that they didn't mean half that crap. On the other hand, how many people do you think will stay together long enough to get the money and the house, only to end up divorcing in a few months? :) |
I watched the first 20 minutes but then was drawn over to AMC and The Godfather for about the millionth time
I think Alessandra and her 'me' time monologue was when I left.... |
I'm tired of these shows degrading how sacred marriage is.
But, I just can't help but to watch...... |
KDat UTC-I'm tired of these shows degrading how sacred marriage is.
I am so upset over this piece of trash for the very reason you listed! I actualy sent FOX an E-mail about it. Being a Catholic, this is a SACRAMENT! Most faiths view marriage as SACRED! If anyone else shares this view, I urge you to contact FOX and tell them what you think. If you think it's a "cool" idea-well then have your say as well... I will NEVER watch this show. askfox@foxinc.com (e-mail) "If you're interested in making your viewpoint known to the individuals who make decisions in network television, write or fax the contacts below: These companies still rely on letters & phone calls for viewers to express their viewpoints. Most of the web sites will accept mail to the webmaster address at their domain (such as webmaster@bigtvnetwork.com), although you can't be sure that your message will get to the appropriate desk." Fox Network Sandy Grushaw Fax: 310 369-8980. edited-I made a serious omission in my original post and "ping" the old lightbulb went off at the grocery store! |
I think the people who are on there and are ready and willing to marry someone they've never met are either crazy , desperate , or both !
I watched the first 10 mins and got very bored very fast. I think it's a stupid show. |
Ok, this whole idea is a little shocking, but arranged marriages still go on today in other countries. They are for other reasons (family relationships, dowry, or whatever), but they seem to work!
I'm sorry but I couldn't believe that they kept the Playboy girl. If I had a say in who my son was going to marry, it sure as heck would not be to a girl who thought posing in Playboy is "classy". |
one girl went on and on about how she is picky and always finds something wrong with a guy---what does she think?? that she is going to find a miracle on this show?
it was too drawn out and boring. what losers. i would be embarrased to be up there. |
Hmmmm...in no way I would be serious about marrying someone I never met. But, I would definately do the show (well anything, almost) JUST for fame.
|
Ok, that one girl is a BARTENDER right, and she's tired of meeting "drunk losers"?
WTF DO YOU EXPECT MORON? YOU'RE A FRICKIN BARTENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I watched the last fifteen minutes and thought it was trash.
Jill Nicolini is the contestant that was a Playboy model. I think she's going to get kicked off the show. |
I do not plan to watch the show EVER but I found this on SMOKING GUN. I am all good on arranged marriages as it relates to one's cultural practices but to have people who have never met you pick your spouse, naw PADNA.
MARCH 3--No phone. No TV. No pager. No computer. No unaccompanied trips outside your room. Sounds like the restrictions placed on someone under house arrest or a juror deliberating during a major criminal trial. Instead, these are some of the rules imposed on the quintet of contestants competing in "Married by America," the Fox TV reality show debuting tonight. The below "hotel sequestering" memo was distributed last month by the show's producer, Rocket Science Laboratories, to program participants. "Married by America" features contestants who have agreed to sight-unseen engagements engineered via a viewer vote. According to the memo, contestants need to be locked down like Gitmo enemy combatants to maintain "the integrity of this production." When TSG contacted one of the document's authors, producer Shannon Keenan, she didn't want to answer questions, but did confirm that a sequestering memo had been distributed. So we're not sure why the show--supposedly an unscripted reality program--needed "rehearsals." (3 pages) http://thesmokinggun.com/archive/marriedby1.html |

is anyone watching this? what's going on w it? I have class on Monday nights, so I miss this train wreck, but I am curious, having seen the first 2 episodes...
|
ok, so i have to admit it...i've been watching this show, and i need to say something. THOSE MARRIAGE COUNSELORS ARE NUTS. It looks a lot as if they are basing all their judgements on the couples' sex life. Now i know that's an important part, BUT IT'S NOT THE ONLY PART of a relationship.

Okay so Stephen and Denise got kicked off last night. When they returned to their room to pack, what were they arguing about? Did Stephen admit to not being sexually attracted to Denise, and she was upset that he didnt tell her that sooner????
|
OK this is incredibly shallow, but two out of the three "judges" on this show are absolutely horrendous looking. They look like monsters up there talking about sex and it grosses me out.
On another note, this show is like a car accident... You're completely sad that it's happening, but you still want to look as you drive by. |
Who's watching the train wreck tonight?
Time to fess up, everybody!! ;) :D |
Saw the French guy at a party Saturday night. LOL
|
I wasn't going to watch....I was going to go to bed nice and early tonight. Then i remembered that it's the Vegas Episode.....that's one i will not miss
|
I think Billy Jean and Tony will be the next ones to get punted.
|
I about died when Billie added to the father in law's toast saying" Cheers for beers and queers." Who says that to someone they just met?
And why was the other couple (whose families liked eachohter) kicked off? I feel that family relations are important in a marriage. I thought Billie and her man would get the boot. |

Billie JEanne gets on my dayuuuuuuuuuum nerves. Her demeanor irritates me. Jill's father was OFF DA HOOK when he went off on Kevin. |
okay, haven't really gotten into this show..but am kind of half watching it now...the guy about to get married making out with a stripper and saying its okay cuz hes not married yet? uhm, i know these people just met..but once you're engaged to be married..kissing anyone besides immediate family is cheating...stripper or not.
|
I'm watching right now...I like Kevin and Jill. I hope BJ and Tony get kicked off.
|
what station is it on?
|
FOX
it will rerun on Thurdsay. UMM THAT BACHELORETTE PARTY was offffffff da dayum hook. A FEMALE STRIPPER?!!?!!?!?!? WTF!?!?!?!?!!?!? |
ok...so i know it's sad but i actually voted, 'cause i hate Billie Jean. She's gotten on my nerves since the commercials for the show started to air.
|
I also voted. I want Jill and Kevin to win. Billie Jean gets on my nerves as well. I think she is being fake and Jill and Kevin make a cute couple.
|
Jill and Kevin seem more mature and ready to enter into a marriage. BJ seems like she's more interested in looking cute for the cameras. Did you see her face when Kevin and Jill were talking about baby names! lol :)
|
I personally wouldn't want to see either couple get married. Seriously...too many f-ed up dynamics. Are they allowing both couples to get married next week...but only one couple gets the $500,000 prize? The previews made it look like both couples were getting ready to walk down the aisle
|
Kevin's Brother
Refusal to be KEvin's best man? :( :o
|
Billy Jean without make-up....ewww!!!
|
Billie Jean PERIOD = EWWWW
She just wants to get married. |
Hahahah...Tony said, "There just aren't enough adjectives to describe.........................................h er." Umm....what?
Ditto with everyone on the whole Billie Jean and no makeup thing. Kevin's fam freaks me out a bit. Now, weren't they the ones that picked her? Or was it the other way around? Omg...I have not watched this since the first episode, but I am into it!!! |
it just seems like BJ is "acting"
I dont think her guy wants to marry her anyway-how can you marry someone you dont love? I think she just wants the money and wouldnt mind being married with whathisname- she just doesnt value marriage like she should it seems like |
Quote:
Okay I bet that both call it off. LOL |
that billie jean chick is nuts...bawling and like, freaking out/becoming all reclusive cuz she wasn't gonna see him for like 3 days...saying how much she loves him and all this stuff, shes known him for what? 2 weeks? please
kevin kind of looks like my ex..lol |
