Old School Video Games
What was your favorites?

Super Mario 3 on NES (probably the greatest game on NES, ever)
Tetris Duck Hunt Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super bowl (best sports games on NES) On Genesis Joe Montana Football 94 NHL 94 and 96 Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D (something like that...my brother beat it in 36 hours, the fastest total for anyone in our family to ever beat a game). N64 (hard to believe that's old school now!) Diddy Kong Racing Goldeneye Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Mario Tennis |
The Mario Series on SNES and NES... Remember how when they came out there was a huge run on them? The stores never could stock enough.
Metroid (the original) |
Donkey Kong
Pac Man Ms. Pac Man We had Coleco Vision with an Atari adaptor. High tech in 1984! :p ;) |
I've got a bunch of old systems in my closet right now. I'd love to get some of the rarer old systems (NeoGeo, TurboGrafx 16, etc) and add to my collection.
My favorite NES games: Super Mario 3 Mickey Mouscapades (damn hard to beat for a disney game) Paperboy SNES: Super Mario World Yoshi's Island Zelda (whatever it was called) Super Mario Kart N64: Bust-a-Move '99. I had/have a serious addiction to that game. Mario Kart 64 Right now I'm borrowing Boy's GameCube (platinum edition...sexy) and am in the throes of an Animal Crossing addiction. One of the best parts of that game is that you can play old NES games from within it. |
I am addicted to Tetris!!!
|
I still have mario 1, 2, and 3 along with tetris, dr. mario, super mario kart, super mario world, and ms pac man. i sill play them all constantly. I remember first playing super mario brothers when I was seven years old!!
|
Contra (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start)
Tecmo Bowl My two all-time favorites. |
Combat for the Atari 2600
Breakout for the Atari 2600 Mario Bros. for the Atari 2600 Ok...so i like the Atari 2600...and I have a working one setup to play... Though for semi newer stuff...the sega mastersystem is pretty neato...so the original Phantasy Star for that system... Or new then that I was brought up a lot on Sonic...Not as much of a nintendo girl... |
KIRBY'S DREAMLAND!!!! - that was my favorite. It also had different extensions like Adventure and Pinball.
My brother and the kids we used to babysit would have long Mario 3 tournaments. (We cheated, we used Game Genie.) Excite bike - I used to make the most impossible courses. I think we just like making the guy fall down hills. Tetris - as always :) Mario Kart for n64 Mario Land or whatever for SNES And arcade games... The SImpsons... my friends and I got to the Mr Burns level but didn't know what to do and we ran outta quarters :( |
all the old atari games
Streets of rage series NHL series Sonic series and of course world series baseball 95. |
The Cabbage Patch game for my ColecoVision!!!
Then we got Nintendo and I loved Duck Hunt and the Track game. We had the pad you ran on to make your guy move. Got a workout and had fun!!! |
I had a Nintendo 8 bit as a kid.
And I loved me some Link and Tetris. I could play those for hours. We had other games but those were pretty much the only ones that could hold my attention. Now I'm playing again with my friends X Box. I love to play Halo but I get killed every time. |
TETRIS ADDICT right here
Ms. PacMan -- had a mini arcade game for my 8th birthday til my brother destroyed it. DUCK HUNT Donkey Kong Frogger Space Invaders |
I still have my Atari and a million games. I always liked Adventure and Pitfall.
My new favorite, however, is a computer game -- The Oregon Trail. I found an old disk while cleaning yesterday and we actually had hours of fun...geeky, I know. |

In college, my boyfriend found his old Apple ][ and set it up in his dorm. We would play Oregon Trail for hours. His roomate was always one of my kids - poor Dave. He'd get dysentary, snake bites, broken arms...he eventually died, hehe.
When Dave bought his SNES to the room, I made a bet that I could clear all 96 states of Super Mario World in less than a week (meaning finding all the hidden worlds, all the special stages, etc). I won that bet easily :) |
Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Donkey Kong
|
anyone remember excitebike and double dribble??
or mike tyson's punch out!! |
Atari: Pitfall and Frogger
Nintendo: Fastfood. Duck Hunt (this got me addicted to hunting..), Duck Tales (hell yea) Sega: Road Rash, Wimbledon Tennis Sega C.D: Ferenheit (sp??) and that one sewer game, hehe N64: Southpark, Crusin' USA, Cruisin' Exotica, Cruisin' World, Diddy Kong Racing, 007 |
My fav old game is Burger Time! Does anyone else remember this? Also, does anyone know where I could find this game on the internet? Thanks!
Also, I loved Oregon Trail when I was in elementary school! The old, 41/2" disks on the Apple computers... it was great! |
Oh man, the nostalgia...
|
Wait..Burger Time?? Was it the Nintendo game where you had the jump-pad thingy where you had to race w/the orders coming through and jump on the 'food' for it to be put on the burger??
I put that on my previous post as Fastfood, I wasn't sure what the name was of it. Hey, I still have mine, I'll be willing to sell it to ye, heh. |
Atari, baby! :)
* Pitfall * Kaboom * Frogger * Donkey Kong * Space Invaders |
I played my old Nintendo until it finally died a couple years back.
-Excitebike -Contra (my brother and I could play that for hours, even though we had beaten it about a million times) I go to the used game shop now, and no one except us (the people who were actually around when they came out) are looking for the old NES at all. |

You would have to walk up ladders and across the different parts of the burger, bottom bun, lettuce, burger, etc. Condiments would chase you and you have to "hit" them with pepper.... it's great! |

one of my friends from elementary school had that game. and no it wasn't nitendo. it had this funky handheld keypad. it reminded me of a phone or tv remote if i remember right. i think i saw it as an arcade game once too. |
Here are some old arcade games I used to love:
*Centepede *Gauntlet *Rampage *Off Road *Root Beer Tapper (I was so stoked that my sister found this online!) I loved Contra too! That game was the best! Burger Time! LOL!! This is a fun thread!!! :D |
Sonic and Tails--split screen (my sister and I would fight over who would get to be Sonic since he was always in front of Tails at the start of the game)
Paperboy Road Rash Street Fighter some other car racing PlayStation game... I forget what it's called, but I've played it for hours... used to hurt my thumb because I'd press down on the button so hard to make the car go faster. |
Oh yeah I forgot to mention some pinball game... forget the exact name though but it was great.
|
i am officially the coolest kid on my block
