Go Shorty, it's your birthday

For all those of you who complained about this song earlier...

"In Da Club" by 50 Cent is #1 this week. :D

LeslieAGD 03-01-2003 09:13 AM

I actually like this song. Don't quite know why though.

probably because the beat is HOT HOT HOT!

I think that he crossed over so quick to the mainstream is because of Eminem, hands down. His fan base became 50's fan base. 50 has been out for some time now on the underground.

Way to bounce back from the dead, 50 cent! :p

I love this song...

valkyrie 03-01-2003 01:59 PM

Ooooh, hell yeah! I LOVE this song...but I *hate* Eminem. I mean, I don't hate him, but I think his songs suck. I thought Dre was the one who worked on this song? He's amazingly talented.

Dre did the beat for In Da Club. But Eminem signed 50 to Shady/Aftermath, Em's label. He put him out there on the 8 Mile soundtrack with Wanksta, which is what initally caused his crossover.

I think Eminem is one of the best lyricist in the game right now (NOT including REAL artists like Mos Def, Kweli, Common, etc.)

AXJules 03-01-2003 04:26 PM

Some of you may not realize the implications of this, but.......

In Da Club is my new ringtone on my cell.

(Look under the thread we had for people that wanted to bitch if you don't understand)

ZTAngel 03-01-2003 04:32 PM

I LOVE THE SONG! I jam out in my car whenever it comes on (and make an ass out of myself :D ).

It's funny -- I think the song Wanksta SUCKS. It's one of the most boring songs I've ever heard. Oh well.

Love this song...

I agree, seriously, try to d/l some of his earlier underground stuff. I think Eminem is a great artist.

I like it too...it's catchy--and I find myself shaking my azz to it whenever it's on.

AngelPhiSig 03-02-2003 02:07 AM

Yea, and Lil Miss Sandy likes to post the lyrics in her LJ and so then I get it stuck in my head for a week... grrr ;)

smiley21 03-02-2003 08:42 AM

I dont understand why that song is so great and popular. I personally cannot stand it. The guys at my work know this but sing it around to get my nerves!! I think it is corny!

sorry to burst your bubble guys

Haha....ya dork.

Be thankful you're not my co-workers who have to put up with me singing Jimmy Fallon's "Idiot Boyfriend" every morning.

Dionysus 03-02-2003 10:02 AM

Ever since this thread was started I could not get this song out of my mind...it's still on my mind.

No bubble has been burst, that is just your opinion and nothing more :)

Peaches-n-Cream 03-02-2003 08:53 PM

I heard this song today shopping in Macy's. I started to think about this thread.:p

sugar and spice 03-03-2003 02:50 AM

Everywhere I went this weekend, I heard this song -- we heard it on MTV, MTV2, MTVHits (I saw this video more times this weekend than all the other videos combined), practically every single radio station! I think I heard it four times in a half hour. I like the song, but it's complete overkill. I'll be sick of it within weeks. Our local radio station is still overplaying Nelly's "Hot in Herre," and I'm sure that fairly soon they'll do the same to "In Da Club" and it will be ruined for me.

It's so catchy.

ahh, thanks for the disclaimer, i'm sure you realized i'd jump on your shit without it . . .

Eminem is brilliant, but not really for his lyrics - he's good with the words, but it's the image that is amazing. He's crafted himself as a sort of present-day Madonna, making a 'renegade' image that mainstream America loves, then reinventing himself as a serious artist. He's taking it all the way to the bank - it's brilliant.

The 50 cent song is pretty solid i guess, it's better than most 'radio rap' (at least it doesn't include Ja Rule). It's a good beat, if not groundbreaking, and his flow is cool, pretty chill.

Go download "Cheeba Cheeba" by zion i (2 guys out of oakland) - a similar 'club banger' but a little more underground feel, that's what I've been into lately.

Complete overkill INDEED! I like the song also, but they play that song more than they played Arrested Development's "Mr. Wendell" :p

PS, I am UTTERLY, THOROUGHLY, COMPLETELY sick of Ja-Rule and Ashanti...just wanted to add that point as well! ;)

And that is why folks love 50! They are sick of the whole "ballad rap" thing going on right now in hip hop. You got a guy out of the streets who has dissed Ja Rule and came out with a pop song that doesn't have a singer on it. woohoo! lol!

I have been following Curtis(50) for a minute and he is very talented. But I am worried about him for two reasons:

1. He's the number one rapper in the world right now, with such a big debut, can he back up the hype? Think of the rappers that have tried but can't. But hopefully one of them that did(Eminem) is in his corner.

2. He is following a very "Tupac" like path with his career. The dissing, the life, getting shot, having beef. I really truly hope he is still with us in 5 years:(

I completely agree with everything said! I used to LOVE his song "How to Rob" I just think he 'keeps it real'. I am mad that they are almost overexposing him though.

I still think it's pretty ironic that it was 33girl who started a thread about this song. 50 cent doesn't seem like an artist she'd listen to, but for some reason I can just picture her shaking her ass to the song whenever she hears it.

UMgirl 03-03-2003 12:00 PM

Sorry got it suck in my head and had to add the rest of it!
