Encouraging thoughts

I figured I'd start a thread for people who might need encouraging thoughts. All it takes is a simple phrase for someones day to turn from gloomy to bright. Feel free to post anything you feel might be benificial to others.

Mine-

The Power of Attitude:

"Our lives are not determined by what happenes to us, but by how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst...a spark that creates extraordinary results."

Great thread!:)

I collect quotes and I'm definately adding that one to my collection. Besides that, I'm having a really hard time right now and reading that was appropriate and encouraging.

Thanks:)

Hold your head up you silly girl
Look what you've done
When you find yourself in the thick of it
Help yourself to a bit of what is all around you
Silly girl

-The Beatles, "Martha My Dear" (named after Paul's Old English Sheepdog)

Hey! Just wanted to compliment UF_Pike on this thread. I think it's a pretty cool gesture...especially since I'm having a crappy day today!

I love this song! And I LOVE the beatles and Paul! I saw him in concert in May!

I'm sorry, I just wanted to add this!

UF_PikePC98, thanks for starting this thread. I'm with all the others that it really does help to read these kind of words... I think I'm going to read this every day... and maybe add to it when I can actually think of something positive...

This one is a favorite when things seem to be in the distant:

Perseverance:

" In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins...not through strength, but through persistence."

God never closes one door without opening another.
By the way I really need some cheering up I have been having a very stressful week. Thanks for the thread!

One of my sisters sent this to me at my absolute lowest point, and since then it always brings me up :) I don't know who said it though.

The friends who can be silent with us in a moment of dispair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing - and face with us the reality of our powerlessness - those are the friends who really care.

Emerson

This is one of my all time favourite quotes and was in my email signature for the longest time.

I also like, "Triumph is a little oomph added to try"

I've got a book started of quotes I like - I'll see what else I can find

Wonderful thread!

Here are a few of my favorites:

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on.
~Robert Frost

Speak when you're angry,
and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret.
~Lawrence J. Peter

If you have built castles in the air,
your work need not be lost;
that is where they should be.
Now put the foundations under them.
~Henry David Thoreau

Great idea, UF_PikePC98! I really needed to hear these too. It seems a lot of us have been having rough times...

sororitygirl2 02-27-2003 11:01 PM

This totally makes me think of that Succesories store at the mall.

Anyway, here's mine:

"We are all in the gutter. It's just that some of us are staring at the stars." -Oscar Wilde

UF_PikePC98 02-27-2003 11:19 PM

Thats a good one, L.

Here's another.....

"If you're not riding the wave of change, you'll soon find yourself beneath it."
