ALL sorority badge day

There's a National Panhellenic Badge Day (March 3, coming up!). But I think it would be really great if we had a badge day for ALL sororities, NPHC, NALFO, multicultural - since we talk about Greek unity, this would be a nice way to show it.

Ginger 02-25-2003 01:22 PM

I plan on wearing my pin on March 3rd, even though I'm not in NPC... I think it's a great opportunity for all greeks to show some sprit!

oceanphi01 02-25-2003 01:51 PM

That week is our Spring Break, so all the NPC organizations and the local sorority here are wearing their badges this Friday.

SilverTurtle 02-25-2003 08:40 PM

agreed

Fuzzie,

I didn't know about NPC badge day until I read about it on greek chat (no NPC's on my campus).

Ever since then I've thought it would be great if there was an all-greek badge day- NPC, IFC, NPHC, PFA, locals, etc.

So I totally agree with you... although I don't know where you'd start the idea at.

lifesaver 02-25-2003 11:39 PM

There should be a joint NPC, NPHC, MGC, & IFC "International Unity Day"

That would be cool.

You know, thats a great idea. SGRho does not allow us to wear our badges on/to non SGRho or NPHC events, I wil wear one of my un-official pins to celebrate. :) BTW--those of you in NPC sororities, there is an announcement on the NPC website regarding the badge day.

DWAlphaGam 02-26-2003 10:10 AM

We don't have any non-NPC sororities on my campus, but we always encouraged the fraternity men to wear their badges on NPC day.

NPC badge day is the day after initiation, so my chapter will have 8 more members proudly wearing their badges! :D

I thought this was an interesting statement, because I've never heard of this "rule" or whatever among greeks. I wonder if it's common among other NPHC member GLOs?

Yeah, it is a rule, part of our protocol actually, and unless you're a member or if someone tells you, there's really not a reason for you to know. Delta has the same rule. Like sister-soror Ninja, I will wear a non-official Delta pin that day.

SATX*APhi 02-26-2003 04:34 PM

I was forwarded an e-mail reminder about this and was going to post it here, but looks like FuzzieAlum beat me to it. :) I haven't worn my badge in a while, so I am super excited to wear it.

SilverTurtle 02-26-2003 09:10 PM

NinjaPoodle $ 12dn94dst...

Thanks for the info. I can see how I wouldn't know.. but it explains why I never saw my few friends who are in NPHC orgs wearing their pins. :)

(I never thought much about it because wearing pins/badges wasn't very common on my campus).

Glitter650 02-26-2003 10:28 PM

That is a very interesting fact about NPHC orgs. badge protocol.. we have all 4 women's NPHC orgs on my campus and I STILL didn't know until now... WOW the things you learn on Greek Chat =)

FuzzieAlum 02-27-2003 01:00 PM

I didn't know that either!

In that case, maybe something like a "unity day" where everyone wears sweatshirts or something ... although I like to see alums participating too, and a lot of us can't dress like that for work.

Sistermadly 02-27-2003 01:29 PM

Don't most NPHC organizations have alternate "insignia" that can be worn in place of the badge? I know my niece has several pins that she wears on her work clothes when she wants to represent.

Even if it's not the official badge, I guess you can still think of it as a "unity" day if NPHC members wore those pins.

(I guess I'll be wearing my new member pin on that day!)

Yes, that is true. We have 'tie-tack'-type pins with either our shield or a representation of our official badge and lapel pins with our shield or a representation of our official badge. We also have plastic pins with our letters in our colors and wooden pins with our letters. Actually, my soror is very creative and she paints wooden numbers in the color of your choice (since I'm a SGRho my color is blue) and wrote my line name on it in yellow puffy paint. My line number was one (since I was on-line by myself) and my line name was Persephone. I think I will wear it on Monday. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll scan it in on Monday.

Sistermadly 02-27-2003 11:29 PM

Sigmadiva, that pin sounds mad cool. I'd love to see a scan of that if it's possible! :)

I'd love to see it also!:)

OK, I'll try!!:D

How to insert pics

Hi,

How do I add pics directly in my post. I e-mailed John, GC system admin, and he said to make a web site, then add the web site link in my post, but I've seen posts with pics in them that were not linked to a web site. I can scan in the pics, so how do I insert it as part of my message.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

AUDeltaGam 03-02-2003 08:17 PM

I wish I was initiated already so that I could have my badge to wear. But I will be wearing my Pi Alpha pin tommorow with pride!!

For those DGs who want to know: I ordered the 14K chased with 4 pearls :D

Peaches-n-Cream 03-02-2003 08:46 PM

I have my badge ready. I will wear it to my alumnae meeting.

texas*princess 03-02-2003 08:52 PM

how wonderful!

I hope the sororities on my campus wear their badges! Badges of all the organizations are all so beautiful!

Re: How to insert pics

Sigmadiva,

I have a website I can host the photo on if you want to send it to me. My e-mail is in my profile.

Generally, those photos are linked from other sites - people include the web address in the post and then the photo shows up.

sororitygirl2 03-02-2003 11:12 PM

My campus had badge day for fraternities and sororities once a week, and letter day once a week to. Of course, not every person participated every time, but it was cool anyway.

DaffodilDarling 03-03-2003 02:14 AM

my sorority doesnt have badges persay... but we will all be dressed up for tomorrow, and wearing letters. :D

33girl 03-03-2003 10:53 AM

I completely forgot about badge day. It's too effing cold here (6 degrees).

sigmadiva 03-03-2003 01:18 PM

Oh, and I've brought my pins and neckalces. I'll try to get the pics on here soon!!;)

MereMere21 03-03-2003 02:01 PM

HAPPY BADGE DAY EVERYONE!

I'm wearing mine how about you?

cherub 03-03-2003 02:08 PM

I'm staying indoors as much as possible today, but am wearing my letters.

When I head to the movies later tonight with my b-friend, the arrow will be on :)

FuzzieAlum 03-03-2003 02:33 PM

I can't believe I forgot to wear mine! (A rather handsome distraction has lately been completely derailing my thought processes.) Oh well, I'll wear it tomorrow to make up for it.

Glitter650 03-04-2003 03:14 AM

I wore my badge... along with some shoes that I will NEVER EVER be wearing to walk around campus from class to class again !! I'm going to have some blisters tomorrow... I saw some girls from another Org wearing their badges with sweatshirts and jeans... are there orgs. that allow their pin to be worn with such casual attire ? Because I know we're not... just curious..

valpogal99 03-04-2003 11:31 AM

Glitter650 - I think most sororities say that badges are only to be worn in "appropriate attire" (meaning dress clothes). However, I know of some that say to wear your badge proudly on anything at anytime. I wore my Alpha Delta Pi badge yesterday. As someone pointed out in a previous post, most Alumna (myself included) have to dress up for work so a letter day for all Greeks would be hard to pull off (would work best on a Friday when some companies have casual day). However, the way I understood NPC badge day was that sorority members were encouraged to wear the sorority badge or letters (I think this was specifically geared to those members not yet initiated). It would be nice to start an all Greek "Spirit" day in which members of ALL Greek organizations were encouraged to wear some symbol of their group. So who will step up to the plate and try to organize that massive movement???

sigmadiva 03-07-2003 07:07 PM

I hope you can see the image. I've been working on getting here this week. The top two necklaces are what my soror made for me. The bottom right is the pin (tie-tack style) I wore for badge day.

I would like to thank Sistermadly for her offer of help.
