Price of Gas

How much is price of gas in your area?

I paid $1.67 per gallon this morning!

Mz Destiny 02-21-2003 08:49 AM

$1.63 for regular unleaded in the Philly suburbs...

aephi alum 02-21-2003 09:26 AM

$1.839/gal for premium unleaded in Connecticut.

A few miles away in New York, it goes for over $2/gal.

The woes of driving a car that only takes premium... :(

AlphaSigOU 02-21-2003 10:01 AM

$1.59/gallon for the cheap stuff, $1.79/gallon for premium here in my neighborhood, probably more in other places in the Dallas metro area. Could go even higher...

Kevin 02-21-2003 10:35 AM

Paid $1.47 last night for it. Ours is typically cheaper than most of the US.

PM_Mama00 02-21-2003 10:36 AM

I pay $1.67 for regular, but in Mt. Pleasant off of CMU's campus, I paid $1.79 for regular!

sigmagrrl 02-21-2003 11:22 AM

It's anywhere b/w $1.79 and $1.83 for regular unleaded here in MoCo, MD...IT'S RAPE!

Yep it's about that much for gas in the huge metropolis of Denton County as well :p

Roseblum15 02-21-2003 01:26 PM

You are all still pretty lucky. Here in Wisconsin its been $1.75 for the last week. It made a five cent jump in one night. I'm thinking its time to start walking again.

Rio_Kohitsuji 02-21-2003 01:53 PM

$1.68 is the cheapest it is here for now :( No road-trips for me this year.

ladyj39 02-21-2003 02:01 PM

Are you ready for this?

San Francisco has the highest gas prices in the nation at a whopping $2.05 a gallon for regular unleaded!!! I'm trying not to drive as much! :(

SigkapAlumWSU 02-21-2003 02:09 PM

Here in Pullman WA it jumped 4 cents last night, and it's now $1.71.. I can't even afford to drive home for spring break!

That is just WRONG!!!

CanadianTeke 02-21-2003 02:58 PM

$0.859/L CDN which is $3.40/g CDN or 2.25/G USD that is for regular unleaded gas

KappaTarzan 02-21-2003 03:03 PM

holy shit canadian gas is expensive.

Nah, it's just that gas in the US is cheap. Canada doesn't come close to what they charge for gas in Europe. They played a package on CNN a few weeks back about how people in England are using Vegetable oil as a cheaper substitute to diesel. It works but it's hell on your engine.

chideltjen 02-21-2003 03:54 PM

here in sacramento, if you get the brand name stuff (shell, chevron, etc) it's about $2.00 a gallon for reg unleaded.
if you are lucky and get the no names, it ranges from $1.77-$1.83.

ummm i think you're wrong dude...
85.9 cents L/ x 4.546 (# of litres in a gallon) = $3.91 cents a gallon / $1.55 which is what most retailers (not banks) are offering on exchange = $2.52 american/gallon

CC1GC 02-21-2003 04:00 PM

Word is prices for gas are supposed to hit $1 Can. a litre...those toyota hybrids aren't looking too bad now :)

wreckingcrew 02-21-2003 04:14 PM

I filled up this morning in College Statin at $1.55 for the cheap stuff.

I'm headin home to SA tonight, so i can give y'all a South Texas quote then :D

Coincidentally, how many of y'all out there buy the premium as opposed to cheap unleaded? I used to until i heard once that the premium is formulated for more performance-geared cars as opposed to my 91 Bronco(and now F-150). Is this true?

Kitso
KS 3.61 is a price that i'll never pay for a gallon of gas.

ZTAngel 02-21-2003 04:19 PM

I just paid $1.64 a gallon for regular unleaded. I'm thankful right now that I have a small, fuel-efficient car.

Kevlar281 02-21-2003 04:41 PM

I filled up last week for a $1.48. If you live in Houston this a great site to visit http://www.houstongasprices.com/

xok85xo 02-21-2003 05:41 PM

here in north/northcentral NJ i've seen gas anywhere from $1.49 to $1.67 for the cheap stuff

amycat412 02-21-2003 05:57 PM

Paid $2.17 for 91 octane in Los Angeles this morning. UGH.
Too close to Bev Hills, that gas station was!
And yes, my car manufacturer specifies must be 91 for my engine.

4.546L is the conversion for a British Gallon, an American liquid gallon is 3.72L, so i rounded to four.

In San Antonio

At IH-10 and UTSA Boulevard its $1.49. Thats the cheapest I have seen. At that price it takes me $36 to fill the truck up. I keep only putting $8 or $10 bucks in at a time int eh hopes that it will soon begin to fall. Damn this high oil prices (an I live itn a state that profits off of oil) Its finally worth it again to uncap some of those old oil wells out in west Texas and start producing again. West Texas Intermediate Crude has to reach about $28-$30 a barrel for most independents to make a buck producing. when gas is cheaper, it is usually around $20. a barrel. Although, I can rememebr in the early 80's when it was $42.00 a barrell, and EVERYOEN in the state was rolling, but conversely, it hurts the US economy as a whole. Damn Venezulans.

valkyrie 02-21-2003 07:38 PM

I got gas this morning right outside Chicago for $1.69. That's the cheap stuff at Citgo, but I wouldn't pay more for anything else. I think I could feed my Civic tin cans and she would still run for me. ;)

Unregistered- 02-21-2003 07:40 PM

My local Chevron officially hit $2.00/gallon this week! GAH! We're up to $2.03 now.

SapphireSphinx9 02-21-2003 08:25 PM

Yeah, I just paid $1.89/gallon last night at Mobil for regular.

I heard that gas prices are suppose to go up everyday for the next couple of months!!! I'm seriously gonna get a ten-speed to ride around! My poor car is 10 years old, and is a major gas guzzler... :( Hope it gets comfy in the garage, cuz with gas going up so high, that's where it's gonna stay.

Will the price of gas is high, do you realize that we often pay more for a bottle/canof Coke than we do for a liter/gallon of gas?

Think about it!?!

yeah, but the difference is i can say..i am kind of broke this week, i can go without a coke... i can't say i'm kind of broke this week, i guess i just won't put gas in my car so i can get to work

texas*princess 02-22-2003 11:43 AM

Is the price going up because of the 'possibility of war'? At least that is what I am guessing.. It usually only goes up really high during the summer months

juniorgrrl 02-23-2003 03:53 AM

The lowest I've seen it around here (except for the cash-only station) is $1.57/gallon.

When I started to commute at the beginning of the semester, gas was $1.35/gallon. This really sucks, because I drive about 170 miles a day to and from school. Thankfully, my car gets pretty good gas mileage (about 26 mpg highway).

Kevin 02-23-2003 04:50 AM

Today I saw it for $1.41/gallon here in Oklahoma City!

PiKA_Phil 02-23-2003 07:14 AM

friggin paid 2.08/gallon of 91 octane...sucks to need the good stuff.

ladyj39 02-24-2003 04:27 PM

Update

My friends and I went to lunch in Half Moon Bay (a little beach town south of SF), and regular unleaded was $2.19 a gallon!!!

Good thing I didn't need gas!

AchtungBaby80 02-24-2003 08:27 PM

It's around $1.53 where I live right now, which is better than what it has been. I went to see my boyfriend this weekend and even though he lives about 2.5 hours away, there was a huge difference in gas prices--it's almost 20 cents higher up there! Maybe it is a good thing that I won't be making any more road trips this semester...

Yes, whoever said that gas in Britain costs around 5 pounds a gallon is right. I know the price won't go down any before I move there (in May!), but I won't be having a car--the Ulsterbus is good enough for me!

LeslieAGD 02-25-2003 10:22 AM

Right now gas around me is about $1.66-1.76. They say it might start to go down since winter is nearing it's end and we won't be using as much gas/oil for heat.
