Most inane thing(s) someone stolen from you

I'm not a thief, but if I was one I would go for the gold. I won't steal petty or stupid things.

I remember when I was a kid, we had this cool inflatable kiddy pool...one morning we woke up and it was missing. Someone stole it!:rolleyes::mad: Why the kiddy pool? How did the transport it? By foot? On a pick-up?

dzsaigirl 02-13-2003 08:07 PM

The biggest thing someone has stolen from me is my car.

The pettiest thing though was actually this week. A student of mine stole some little incentives (music note erasers, pencils, etc.) from me and started giving them to people who then turned them back in. That was SOOOO lame! I mean, stupid erasers???? Pencils???

SSS1365 02-13-2003 08:19 PM

I remember when I was a kid, someone stole the Christmas lights that my family had on our bushes outside.

ZTAMich 02-13-2003 08:49 PM

two years ago someone stole my bookbag with all my stuff in it from our student center. it was discovered in the men's room but the textbook for my american lit class was not in it!

Kevin 02-13-2003 09:05 PM

I've had my car stolen as well. Stamps are probably the most inane thing people have taken from me on a regular basis.

OrigamiTulip 02-13-2003 09:33 PM

My sophmore year, I got a new roomie who turned out to be a major drug addict/skanky whore. She stole all kinds of stuff from me, but the strangest and most bizzare thing she stole from me was my broom. WTF? Was she going to try to hock it for drug money? It was a 7 dollar broom. Why steal it?

josh8o 02-13-2003 10:33 PM

one weekend we had a little party and there were poeple in and out of all the apartments here at the house. these 2 bumd drunk girls were looking in my fridge (for more beer i think) and they saw my little individual bags of baby carrots. they asked if they could have them and i was like NO! they keep on asking and i keep telling them no. in the morning i noticed all my carrots were gone! who steals carrots at a party?!?

Unregistered- 02-13-2003 10:40 PM

In high school someone stole a bag of tampons and pantiliners I left in my locker. I left the door unlocked as I went on an errand and my jacket and wallet was still there, but no feminine products! If they really needed some, they could have easily gotten some at the health room!

When I lived in the dorms some pervert stole the bras and panties I left in the dryer once. It was a bitch having to go and buy new underwear!

sororitygirl2 02-13-2003 10:42 PM

A toothbrush... used.

AXJules 02-13-2003 10:48 PM

Awesome, awesome topic.....

The stupidest thing anyone ever stole from me was a box of philanthropy t shirts. I was philanthropy chair last semester and all the xtra larges and smalls were stolen out of my room. A) the price of your shirt is built into your bill so that everyone can have one, so they were essentially free, 1 per person and B) how many of the same shirt do you need???? WTF??? were they making a quilt or hoarding them or something????

The craziest thing my friends ever stole from a party was a, um, vibrating fake men's body part they found in a bathroom at some GUY's house.

AXJules 02-14-2003 12:01 AM

Sorry I forgot one....
Also, one time we were in this really bad neighborhood bargain shopping. I came out of one of the stores to find a guy peeling the rubber caulking off the back of my windows on my car. Can someone explain to me the use/ street value of something like that????

MooseGirl 02-14-2003 12:54 AM

a memory of HS just popped in my head....

one year, grade 11 i believe, at Christmastime every class decorated their door...so our class decided to do a stocking theme...everyone brought in a sock.

most kids just brought in regular socks, but I remembered a pair my grandma gave me that i'd never worn cuz they were so ugly. So it was a long fuzzy blue sock with red stripes:D....it was the star of our sock door. Well last day of classes b4 break and I walk by the door to get my sock and it's gone!! everyone else's was there, but not mine! :o

well wandering around the school later i see some kid wearing it on his hat!!! I asked for it back but he wouldn't give it  ...said he found it somewhere! I know i didn't wear the socks, but i'd at least like to have the pair....i think i still have the match at my dad's house somewhere.....

When I was 6 I used to play with the two neighbor boys. I was sorta tom-boyish so it was never any big deal. Well one day we were playing in their house and they decided to watch some stupid cartoon while I continued to play in the other room. I got bored and went home. Later that night my mom was looking for me and I was playing in my closet with the toy gun and watch I had "borrowed" from them. I didn't think it was any big deal cuz I was only borrowing them - I was gonna give them back the next day when I went over to play.
BUT NO! Mom marched me right over to their house to appologize and hand back the goods. Jeez, a plastic fisher price gun and a kermit the frog watch....how lame!

When I was a freshman in college, our RA would make us a TON of doortags with our names and cute little pictures.

Well.. one day I was going out to class and I noticed someone took my Care Bear doortag. It was my favorite one. And it's not like my name is super common or anything either... I probably had the most unique name in all of South Texas.

Anyway, I happened to be really good friends with all the RA's in the building, and one of them reported that she saw my name tag in some other girl's room (the girl lived in a different wing and therefore she didn't get a Care Bear doortag :p ) while she was doing a routine weekly status check.

Oh well. :p

How can I forget? We once had some company down in our basement. Someone went upstairs to use the restroom...supposedly. Someone seen him near the kitchen I believe. The day before, we won all these pizzas from Dominoes, and still had some leftovers. One was a full cheese I believe and the other was 3/4 combination. Well, later on that night after our company left, we reached for pizza. But, our combination pizza (with 1/4 eaten) was missing. To this this day we think that guy stole it.

DeltaSig 02-14-2003 01:17 AM

Stupid but I like it

My roomate when I was a freshman stole my Marin Lawrence YOU SO CRAZY video. I was pisst but I got over it, but damn I loved that video.

sweetie adpi 02-14-2003 01:25 AM

a 1-800-COLLECT Mr. T magnet.

they took it off our fridge one nite when we had a keg. we're fairly certain it was a couple girls in another sorority cause they were the only ones in there after we were done playing flip cup and i distinctly remember staring at the magnets while playing because they were flipped upside down. everything was kicked after that and when they left and i went in the kitchen to get water it was gone.

they took a sorority magnet too, but one of the 'things' up at school is to um... procure things from other glo's so if they really want a five year old cheap ugly sorority magnet from senior give-away for their collection, whatever, but seriously, we liked Mr. T :( hehe

-A bike chain, mind you not my bicycle, just the chain and lock
-A propane tank from the outdoor grill in my summer cottage
-my pocketbook in 8th grade which only contained my bus pass and lip gloss
-when I was very young (under 5) someone stole my beach ball
-my bathing suit
-my towel at a public pool in summer camp
-my shoes which I had been wearing at the time  He returned them later thank goodness. I grew up on the mean streets of New York.

Items stolen from family members while I am at it:

-my sister's Air Supply tape
-my mother's car (not that unusual)
-my mother's coat from a restaurant on the Upper East Side. It was freezing out that night a few months ago. She left her house keys in her pocket, so the locksmith had to change the locks.

cuaphi 02-14-2003 11:27 AM

In 4th grade I had my glue, scissors, eraser and little blue plastic sled (remember the kind that roll up?) stolen. They later turned up on the desk of some girl named Shanna who was in my Blue Bird troop. They were obviously mine because my last name was stamped onto the back of them but when I confronted her she tried to invent some lame story.

Strange that I still remember that stuff....

Kevlar281 02-14-2003 12:19 PM

My last roommate took my manual can opener. It was such a pain to have to use a bottle opener to cut the cans.

SATX*APhi 02-14-2003 12:28 PM

I had a party a few weeks ago and five things were stolen:

1 - a cell phone
2 - CD case w/about 50 CD's
3 - two margarita glasses
4 - a BRAND NEW bottle of 99 bananas
5 - a friend's photo frame with pictures of her and her best friend with a letter from the best friend, which was given to her by her best friend. It was one of those dolalr store frames, so we have no idea why someone whould have taken it.

My sisters and I were allowed to store things in our sorority house over summer vacation, but we never left anything valuable because there was always a chance that it would get stolen by the maintenance people. So, between junior and senior years, I left a small nightstand in the room I was going to be living in so that I wouldn't have to lug it all the way home and back. I left my manacure set and a couple of other random things in one of the drawers, and when I returned, my manacure set was gone. Mind you, it wasn't a nice manacure set or anything, it was just nail clippers, toenail clippers, a couple of emery boards, and a pair of tweezers that I threw in a little zippered bag. Everything else was still in the drawers of the nightstand. I still can't figure out why someone would steal that. I mean, would you really want to use someone else's nail clippers when you didn't know them? What if that person had some sort of nail fungus or something? Blech!

AGDPrincess70 02-14-2003 04:00 PM

My roommate is one of those weird raver people (she even has a set of turntables in our living room). She's into drugs and stuff, including pain medications. For the last two years, I've had chrionic kidney problems and eventually had it taken out last summer. So naturally, I have a lifetime supply of darvocet, vicoden, toradol, and loricet. Well, I came down with a kidney infection one time, and went to take a vicoden. The once full bottle was completely empty!!! I mean, I know I had lots of other medication to choose from (lol), but that's not the point!!!! You don't steal medication from a sick person!!! Her bf buys pain meds off of ebay or something, so I made her buy me more.:)

FAB*SpiceySpice 02-14-2003 08:05 PM

Underwear from my laundry...ewww who DOES that?!

Pictures of NSYNC that I had taped to my door....ok that's dumb!

Paint pens....grrr, that pissed me off!

Air fresheners from my car, once again WHY?!

One of my roommates stole my student ID last year which was SO stupid b/c they look at the picture to make sure it's you, and there's no where on campus she could have used it without someone looking at her to make sure it was her. I have dark brown hair and a tan complexion and she was WHITE blonde and very pale....yea we looked soooo alike.

chideltjen 02-14-2003 08:34 PM

i had about 30 burned CDs stolen... all which have no value cuz they were mixes. c'mon... you broke my car window for THAT?

I had a pair of dirty P.E sweats stolen when I was in 8th grade. That was pretty gross.

XOMichelle 02-15-2003 12:14 AM

My ohouse had 6 DOZEN Krispy Kremes stolen from our kitchen. I get one or two donuts, but 6 dozen? That a lot of donuts.

I had my coat stolen at a frat party once. Which sucked because it was freezing that day and I had to walk back to the dorms in a tank top! But the funny thing is....I kept finding stuff of mine along the way, like my ID and all that stuff. They didnt even take my credit cards...WHcih duh, why would I have kept that in there?!

But the story gets funnier because a couple of weeks later I was back there on a Thursday night (same night of the week as the last party) and my coat was sitting there on the couch with everyone elses coats.....So of course I took it back! THat was after I had already replaced it, but dammit I love that coat!

Once a long time ago, a girl stole my bathingsuit. Our moms knew each other and her mom called and said she found a bathingsuit in the middle of their back yard. The mom described it to my mom. My mom said that it was mine. When the suit was returned to me the colors were washed out by the sun and was ruined. I thought it was odd to have a bathing suit stollen.

Rio_Kohitsuji 02-15-2003 11:51 AM

I had my attenna topper (which was that "Wilson" the volleyball from Castaway) stolen from my car by a guy I was dating, and he freaking lied about it! How I found out about him taking it was when he told me that someone had stolen it from his car!! This of course was a year ago...and just the other day I seen it on some dag on Neon parked beside me! I shoulda stole it back....
