Air force ones

I went to a mall today and bought two pairs. Anyone else?

Also, do you think Nike paid them a $hit load of money to do that song?

PSK480 02-12-2003 09:20 PM

either Nike payed them, or they had to pay Nike for royalties of mentioning the shoe so many times. Air Force Ones are copywritten to Nike, and I think it may even be a registered trademark

wreckingcrew 02-12-2003 09:28 PM

so was it the song or the video that made you buy those?

chalk up one more for Nike either way

They are shoes? I thought they were airplanes.

dionysis wannabe

AlphaSigOU 02-12-2003 10:44 PM

If you're referring to the shoes... they're Nike Air Force Ones, But if you're referring to the Presidential aircraft, Air Force One is actually a call sign.

The call sign is assigned to any U.S. Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. Whenever he flies the VH-3D Presidential helicopter from the South Lawn of the White House to Andrews Air Force Base, the helicopter is operated by the Marines, hence its call sign when the President's aboard is Marine One. Likewise, if the aircraft is owned by the Navy or Army, then it is Navy One or Army One, respectively. Should he board a Cessna 172 owned by John Q. Public at Podunk Airpark, the callsign for that aircraft is Executive One.

The primary Presidential aircraft is VC-25A 82-8000. (VC-25A is the military designation for the Boeing 747-200B aircraft). A second aircraft, serial number 92-9000, is kept as a backup. There are occasions where the President may fly smaller aircraft, such as the C-32A (Boeing 757-200), C-9C (DC-9) or C-20 (Gulfstream III) aircraft.

The Vice President's call sign is Air Force Two. Same rule applies to aircraft of different services. Sorry, the Speaker of the House or others in the presidential line of succession don't rate special call signs when flying military aircraft.

If the First Lady is flying alone, her call sign is Executive One Alpha.

The video.....

I've never really been one to wear a lot of tennis shoes, simply because once you scuff them up it really does phuck up your night. However, I decided to give them a shot and I bought a couple pair. Believe me, you won't see me wearing sports jerseys or head bands......but i might try a new look this weekend. It'll be a little different than the Armani/Structure look.

BTW, if we didn't have sports.....I seriously think rappers wouldn't have anything to wear.

LOL I feel like an idiot. I've got the CD, so of course I've heard the song, but I've never seen the video... I actually thought they were talking about presidential aircraft in the song, since I didn't know there were SHOES called Air Force Ones! LOL! :p

If we didn't have sports, America would be one boring ass place. Eventually, sports would have been invented. . .someone would have came up with something.

As for Air Force Ones, the song. . .I heard that NIKE heard they were working on a song about it. . .and they offered to outfit Nelly and the Lunatics for any appearance they had.

And if you're JUST now buying AF Ones. . .you're a little late getting on the bandwagon. There's probably some rock group out there about to make a song about. . .I don't know. . .Vans or Pumas. Then, everyone will be wearing those.

wreckingcrew 02-13-2003 03:35 PM

Dude KappaT, where ya been at? I ain't heard from you in a while!

As soon as some band comes out with a song called Red Wings (the boots) i'm THERE!!

Ah, i guess i'm not big on the tennis shoes much. All i really want are a white pair that'll look ok when i'm wearing shorts or jeans. Mostly i'm wearing flip flops year-round(cuz i can in Texas) or my Red Wings.

that's the truth. those are the ol' uptowns. people have been on those kicks since like the 80's. i think i had a pair in 7th grade. you'd be surprised when pop culture gets on something. everyone gets on it.

1) Doc Brown was wearing a pair of them in the first BTTF

2) You're right, everything from those fake silver necklaces to street racing to converse all stars

As for the shoe issue, if I'm going to spend that much $$$ on shoes, they sure won't be athletic shoes. As a working woman in her 30s, I have other priorities.:p

Air Force Ones are okay, but I'm still waiting for them to come back with Kangaroos. Anyone remember them? They're the dope shit. I'll make a song about them.

There's actually a new song now called ADIDAS, but it's not about shoes -- it stands for All Day I Dream About Sex. I wonder if Adidas will outfit Killer Mike when he performs that one. Hee hee.

I used to wear nothing but those Kangaroo shoes. To a 7 year old keeping a quarter in the toungue of your shoe is strangely appealing.

I don't know if you're referring to the song by Korn called A.D.I.D.A.S. (All Day I Dream About Sex), but that one's a few years old :) And although that song isn't about shoes, the band does seem to wear a lot of Adidas apparel.

I think she's talking about another one? If it's the she's thinking, I heard it the other day on a station in Milwaukee that doesn't play Korn and if they did, it wasn't the Korn song - which I think is awful.

Oh I have to agree, I am NO fan of Korn... trust me! It's just that I remember hearing their song by the same title a long time ago :)

The song I was talking about is by Killer Mike, who is a dude who has worked with Outkast quite a bit. I had no idea there was a song by the same name by Korn. I've never even heard a Korn song. Too funny!

Hahaha one of my roommate's is obsessed with that song, she plays it NON STOP!!!!

As for the Air Force Ones....I definately did not know that they were shoes until like last week, I feel so dumb haha. :p

Fewdfreak 02-14-2003 10:16 PM

I remember Air Forces, they were the big kicks back in fourth grade, which was '93-'94ish... the mids were the ones everyone had. I remember this kid Michael Reese had tan ones that were like suede material or something. You weren't cool unless you had the straps undone and velcrowed together off the to the side. I also remember that Fila came out with some shoes that looked just like Forces's and kids had those, too. There are some football players in one of my classes, and one of them has the black and gray ones, so they are coming back, hopefully everyone won't get them just 'cuz the song, but that's probably what will happen. I was looking on the web, there are tons of pages with Force's on them, and they have some pretty crazy ones with Burberry and Gucci prints and stuff.

Here are the classic Force's... http://www.pickyourshoes.com/images/shoes/AF1_wht.jpg

I wouldn't mind having a pair of white and light pink ones myself.

the fila K's? i had them in like 7 or 8th grade. i seen Timbs in some crazy colors, i just got the standard joints...wheat/chocolate/cinnamon/brocoli. but i'm a timbo lover, got like 5 pairs in different colors. and i seen some with plaid and gucci designs. man, you'd be surprised at the kinda styles that come out of NY.

Lets hear it from the people who wore Keds, Spauldings, Adidas, "WG shoes" (they made it up), Jordache, and shoes from payless or shoe carnival supply in the early 90's. And, about Adidas, we wouldn't get caught dead wearing them in that time period, funny how things change.

I was too young to work then and my parents were too cheap to buy me $100+ tennis shoes.

SUPPOSEDLY, nike.com now makes Air Force Ones in fraternity colors with the founding year on the tongue. Someone must have known that Greeks will buy anything in their colors or letters.
