AI: Always darkest before the dawn
Greetings, GCers.
After a few weeks of worrying, hand-wringing, and general panic, I had a wonderful phone conversation w/ the local alum prez of XYZ. It turns out this is the largest XYZ alum chapter in the GLO w/ much more going on than I would have guessed from their web space. And--we knew so many of the same people we can't figure out how we could possibly have NOT met each other yet. The next plan is a "ladies-who-lunch" date with my new friend and other XYZ alums, some time in March. (Hey, we all need our calendars to clear........) So it's time for me to take the advice I've been hearing and handing out to other PNAMs (Right, Marie and Cece?) It's OK if things don't seem like they're happening right away--more is going on behind the scenes. One more time--I can't thank everyone enough for the supportive messages from GC. I have all of you to thank for this new opportunity that I thought was lost forever. {{{{{{{{HUGS TO EVERYBODY}}}}}}}}} Adrienne )PNAM-2003) :D |
Woo Hoo.....
Good Luck! |
I'm so happy to hear that things are progressing so well....the finish line may be sooner than you think! YAY!
|
Oh good luck! There have been so many great PNAI stories lately! I hope that yours will be the next one!
|
Good Luck! Any sorority would be proud to have you as a sister! :)
|
Once again, it shows that hard work comes to those Who Desearve!!!:)
Good For you!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!:) |
Sounds good - lots of luck. :)
|
Ooooooh! That is so great! I hope you have more good news soon.

Screw it. Other people let the cat out of the bag sooner than I did. Now, keep in mind we're STILL JUST TALKING, and no one has hinted that they will sponsor me, let alone offer me a bid. This could go down the drain at any time, and I'd be right back to Square One. Plus, the AI process is a tad more involved in Delta Delta Delta than it seems to be at other GLOs. ;) Howzzat, Tom???? Adrienne (PNAM-2003) :D |
A, HOPE This goes for a touch down for you!:)
Keep the upper lip stiff and head held high as you are a winner! |
Thanks for ending the suspense Adrienne! Well, not completely ending, but at least alleviating it a little....

curious, Marie |
I was wondering if maybe Tri Delta was the group you were pursuing AI with, since you're a Boston University alum and Tri Delta was founded there . . . and apparently I was right. :D I wish you the best of luck in your alumnae initiation process and hopefully someday I'll be able to call you my sister.
I'm also curious -- how is the Tri Delta AI process different from most other GLOs'? |

From what I have been able to gather from the national Honor Initiates coordinator (that's one difference right there: what they call the process), approval for initiation is a 3-step process. First, the local alumnae group approves the HI (and I believe this is a unanimous vote), then a local collegiate chapter (ditto), then a final review and approval from National. I believe, based on what I've read here, that this multi-step approval is more than what some other GLOs do. I could be mistaken, but that is what I've picked up. Thank you for the support, gang. I am hoping this works out, but I know nothing is guaranteed for a while. I'm going to cool my heels until everyone's schedule opens up and we can spend some time together. I've been ready to answer the question, "Why did you choose to approach TriDelta, out of all of the 26 NPC sororities that have alumnae clubs/chapters in Houston?" for a while. I have some solid, honest answers to that--including the philanthropy (I'm directly involved in cancer research, including pediatrics) and how issues affecting Greek life today were addressed at the very founding over 100 years ago. But more than that....something about all of the aspects together just resonates on a level that there are simply no words for. I hope this makes sense. Have a great day, everybody!
