Will anyone admit they watch Q.A.F?
I've seen a few episodes of Queer As Folk on Showtime. I had been told by some that it was "out there." Once I got used to the idea of seeing homosexual males interacting I got more comfortable with it. Like Sex and the City, I'm getting "hooked". Last night, I saw the new episodes begin March 2nd. I guess I'll have to rent the first 2 seasons to catch up.
Who else will admit that they watch the show. BTW, I'm going to catch up on SF too. :p |
I watch it too!
I'm not a faithful viewer of the show, but if I remember or catch it on I actually enjoy the show. It did take me sometime to get used to the homosexual love scenes, but the show does have a good story line.
|
i'll admit it, i think i've only missed one episode of that series. i love it and will be watching when the season starts:)
|
I must admit that I enjoy watching this show. Brian is a hot MESS!!!

:o I like Brian. I kind of feel sorry for him. He's in pain. I wonder if he or any of the other characters are homosexual (in real life), especially Emmett. |
I'll admit that I watch the show when I'm from school. (I don't get Showtime at school.) The show is hilarious! :)
|
i love Brian and the gay character, David, on Six Feet Under. they both have a bunch of layers which makes them very interesting to watch. from what i've read, both the guy that plays Emmett and the guy that plays Justin are gay. the others including the women that play the lesbian couple are straight.
to be straight and play gay, that's some serious acting:p |

I don't like Justin (he does "seem" like something). |
the only folks i don't care for are Lindsay and ... (i forgot her name). the women don't move me as much. and sometimes Debbie, Michael's mom is a bit much for me. but hey, more folks should be that supportive of their kids (regardless of their sexual identity). i like Justin, i don't like him and Brian. he's too "boy-toy" and needs to realize it and leave Brian. i see why i love this show, it's so soapy;) even moreso than Sex And The City, my other fave. and Six Feet Under...if it's racy, i'm probably watchin' it...but NOT livin' it... :D  :D

I don't like them together either. Quote:
I tried to get into 6 feet under. I actually had, but... I guess I'll get back into it since this year will be the end for SATC and The Sopranos. I hope there aren't people out there who are TVphobic. Is that a word? |
I admit it I'm a QAF junkie. I must admit in the beginning it really took a lot to get use to seeing it so up close and personal with the same sex relationships, but like I said I admit it, I'm hooked.
I don't like Lindsay and Melanie at all, I'm not sure if it's because I'm female and I can tolerate and handle seeing 2 males all over one another versus 2 females, I don't know. Als when this show debuted, it was said that the guy who plays Brian is married in real life and has 2 kids I think. I'm sorry but all that with the male bodies all up on one another, I think they are all gay. I have seen the guy that plays Ted in a commercial for some rent a car place. Now Emmett is my favorite out of all of them. I saw him on some show where he was palying opposite Noah Wyile (sp) from ER when they did the Bill Gates story and Emmett didn't even look like Emmett. I mean I almost didn't realize it was Emmett. |
kiml122,
i can't get into the women based on what you said. two men...no problem, particularly if they're attractive. oops, did i say that? i don't know...i don't think that these folks are actually gay. maybe tri-curious but not gay:) i, too, saw Emmett in a Showtime movie and Michael on a Frasier episode. Emmett's not as "fem" in real life. now, i'm just waiting for a movie based on E. Lynn Harris' book(s). his books are tame compared to QAF...IMO. think, the bathhouse scenes...:eek::eek: |
Confession...
Yep...I'll admit it too!
I love Queer as Folk. Sometimes I forget that it's on, but I do watch it on a fairly regular basis. My husband HATES the show...for obvious reasons. He's tried to watch it with me in the past, but ever since an episode where Brian had Justin in a very graphic missionary position, that's about it. |
I thought that one of E. Lynn's books was being made for Showtime.
The lez couple...I don't care for the brunette. I was sooooo glad that Brian decided not to sign paternal rights over to old girl. The way it looks, the chicks are going to have some drama going on. I'm trying to catch up...lol |

I have never seen QAF and stopped watching OZ after they started showing hanging chads and greek style "wrestling". I paid too much for my lunch to lose it watching that mess. Bring on the babes in the Miller-Lite commercial |
My mother watches that show all the time she even has the DVD collection as well as the episodes that she taped before she had a DVD player, she has the soundtrack for the show and goes to the webpage to catch on on the characters. Everytime I go home she makes me watch it, I must admit it is a good show they have tons of drama going on all the time!

If a man likes the show at least you KNOW or can SUSPECT that he may go "that" way. :o ;) Like a member of the KKK, I can appreciate* you because I KNOW you don't like me as an AA, as opposed to hiding what you feel. |

NO. What's :( :( is the fact that many AA women are being infected with HIV and AIDS because of these DL men.
The saddest fact is that some of these women are getting it from their HUSBANDS. Yeah, there are other ways (drug usage, blood transfusion, unprotected sex...) Right now, I'm talking about the DL thing. Needroes professing their love to a sista, then leaves her and goes to the DL hotspot. That's ffffffff'd up! What's :( :( is the fact that a person cannot truthfully acknowledge who and what he is. Yeah, I'll appreciate a man more if he says "Hey, I'm gay and proud of it." Or, if a man or woman OPENLY reveals that he is a racist and does not care for African Americans, instead of covering up. At least I know where they are coming from. If that's sick or :( then oh well. So be it... |

DoggyStyle (ohhh....this conversation makes me look at your name in a different light j/k ;) ) did have me laughing with his swordfighting and hanging chads though! LOL |
I saw a show on the Discovery Channel on crossdressers and transgendered (I think that is the term) men. Several of them were MARRIED--with CHILDREN. One even wanted to stay with his wife after he had "the surgery" to become a woman. She agreed!
I saw that show too and was like WTF!!!! What is the world coming to?? I would much rather a man let me know straight up (no pun intended) that he is not sure which side of the fence he wants to be on. That way I make a decision knowing all of the facts. That DL stuff is not only selfish but also dangerous. Now if a woman knows about that her man is try-sexual (wants to try it all) then that is for her to deal with. Back on the topic of Queer As Folk........ I missed the earlier episodes, can someone please fill me in on how did Brian and the blonde lesbian (can't remember her name) hook up and make a kid? Just a little confused on that one. |
i saw a report on MSNBC about the same thing. it was quite interesting, i must say. not that i want my very own crossdresser, though:eek:
anyhoo on QAF, Brian and the blonde dated in undergrad. not sure how she got preggers or why Brian was chosen. my guess is that she still has some sort of feelings for him and she picked him. this is based on some interaction i've watched between their characters. it almost seemed like the writers wanted to "straighten" out Brian and the blonde for a minute on one episode... |
It seems that Brian made reference to "doing you know what in a cup" on one episode. I think he was talking to Justin when he sadi it. It was during the time when the chicks were trying to get him to sign over custodial rights of the little boy.

Still aint watching that show. The only balls I wanna see on the screen are footballs, not Fred's balls. |
You have a point!

LMAO! |
I'll be at my last parade Sunday night. Unfortunately, I'll have to catch the repeat.
|
omg, there is actually a thread on this! lol!
Okay, so a friend invited me over to watch this show one day and now I am HOOKED. I don't have Showtime so I can't actually watch it as it happens, but I have watched both the first and second seasons on DVD (the third comes out in Feb). Brian is HOT. I love his nonchalant attitude and his confidence. I like him and Justin even though Ethan is creeping in the picture. I am glad to hear Gale Harold is straight...although if I ever met him in real life, he would have no question at all about his sexuality! :o ;) I cannot STAND Michael as he is a whiny punk. I do think they need to diversify the cast a bit. The only minorities I have ever seen on the show have been Brian's random hook-ups. |
thank you for posting the starting date, i was beginning to wonder:confused: i love the show and i, too, am diggign' Brian:p that show is the only reason i have Showtime. now they have a women's version of QAF. i think i'll pass on that one...
they've shown a few Black men in the back rooms but they could use a little more color. the background guys needed some more airtime, IMO:D |
Last night's episode was really  and (:.
Poor Uncle Vic. I'm sure Debbie is going to take it HARD Brian: Lawd! Will THIS humble him? I hope he becomes okay. |
QAF is one of my favorite shows - i started watching it i guess 2 seasons ago. at first i was wondering about the title, cause i thought "queer" was a bad word (like the "n" word)... i had to watch the show for myself b4 i could make any judgements about it. I have been have been swept away by the story and the actors - pretty much everything has me hooked.
too bad for debbie losing vick like that - it made me think about mending some bridges in MY life before it's too late... but then i started to feel bad for michael and emmit cause they are gonna have to listen to debbie whine and b*tch about this forEVER i don't know why melanie went back to the artist guy and got offended when he made those remarks to her. she knew he was a pig to begin with by his behavior towards his staff and the comment he made about his assistant. |
Final season this spring!

My sororfriend saw the trailer on Showtime last night while we were on the phone. Unfortunately, the date was not given. Probably March or April.
I'm still  that this will be the last season. |

really? the last one? say it ain't so:(
since The L Word starts up soon, look for the season to start after that series ends. |
It's the last season. :(
I never liked Melanie. She's REALLY working my nerves. What is up with Teddy? :o LOL LMAO@ Emmitt during the wedding. |
after the show ends i'll be sad, i really like it. but on the positive, my cable bull will go down b/c i'm cancelling Showtime. i won't need it after the show ends:p
|
i am glad Mel and Lindsey put it out in the open that they are not together. I was tired of them bickering with each other and fronting! Michael is just going to have to get over the fact that his "child" is going to grow up with a single mother (the way he did... hmm... sounds like there are some issues he needs to work out with debbie).
Also sad that the movie deal fell through but glaf that Justin is back - Brian needs him around. i like this show but i have to wonder if gay people ever feel stereotyped by the behaviors on this show (the way we get offended by some shows on UPN, for example). |
I'm with you Soror Wendi. I called up the cable company last week to reinstate Showtime. After the season ends, that's it for Sho until the Barbershop series begins. :o
