babies

Just out of curiousity, if you had a baby today, what would you name it?

If I had a girl, I would name her Abigail Rose. If I had a boy, I would name him John Baylor and call him Baylor, or Jacob Stephen and call him Jake.

OUlioness01 01-03-2003 06:51 PM

for a girl:
Sophia Evelyne
Zaira Susan
Viviane Patricia

for a boy:
Joseph Michael
Jonathan (or Jack) Franklin
Matthew Tyler

SATX*APhi 01-03-2003 07:00 PM

Girl: Belicia Andria (Pronounced in Spanish) -- She would go by Belicia (not Bell or Andria)

Boy: Matteo Andres (Pronounced in Spanish) -- He would go by Matthew or Matteo (Not Andres, Andy or Andrew)

astroAPhi 01-03-2003 07:22 PM

Girl: Destiny Jo or Brooke Marie (this one was almost my name... much more original than Nicole  )

Boy: Derek Christopher or Aaron something

deltaphi94 01-03-2003 07:37 PM

If I had been blessed with a daughter, I wanted to name her Mandie Elizabeth. If I had had another son, I would have wanted to name him Aaron Matthew. Unfortunately, it looks like I've chosen all the baby names I'll need.

mmcline 01-03-2003 07:38 PM

Girl: Hannah Olivia or Samantha Leigh

Boy: Garrett Thomas or Bryce Cameron

RedHotChiO 01-03-2003 07:49 PM

I have five names total and the names will come in this order, depending on sex and birth order, whatnot.

Girls:
Kasyn Montgomery
Lena Elizabeth
Sidney Taylor

Boys:
Jordan Elliot (from the book Beach Music)
Cassidy Parker

I had another boy name, but I keep changing my mind.

RedHotChiO

carnation 01-03-2003 08:03 PM

Girls: Chessa or Rose

Boys: NO boy names because I can't bear any more kids and I
flat refuse to adopt any boys, only more girls

japhir 01-03-2003 09:15 PM

What a small world, OUlioness01!
Boys: Joseph Michael (I've loved that name since I was little)
Benedict Anton (after my grandfather)

Girls: Elizabeth Joan (after an aunt who died of breast cancer)
Grace Michelle (after the two most important people in my life)

FiReKraCkEr 01-03-2003 10:18 PM

Emmalyn Grace, Nari Jade, or Gwendolyn Victoria for a girl...

and Elijah Cole, Preston Alexander, Dylan Jakob for boys

Nikki_DZ 01-03-2003 11:23 PM

Let's hear it for conventional girls' names! :D

If I had a daughter, I'd name her Vivian Elisabeth, or Emma Susanne. If I had a son, I'd name him Wilson Kirby or Tucker Charles.

Since I'm not going to have any kids, the only thing I'm going to have to name is my future dog.. and that name is Ramekin. :)

my name is Mandy :) its not a very common name, i have never met anyone named just plain mandy, i've met tons of amandas though...

Gioia Elizabeth would be my girls name.. (pronounced joy-a)
and my boy would be Christian Michael

deltaphi94 01-04-2003 12:15 AM

Mandie Elizabeth was my maternal grandmother's name. I didn't realize that until my mom told me after my grandmother's death because she always went by Elizabeth, but it sure explained why my uncle called her Mandie all the time to push her buttons. That was also my great-greatgrandmother's name. There were complaints registered that it SHOULD have been my name, following family tradition lol.

nucutiepie 01-04-2003 12:44 AM

Girls:

Madeline Rose
Claire Helen

Boys:

Noah Edward
Christopher William
Liam Alexander

juniorgrrl 01-04-2003 03:15 AM

Just a friendly reminder to those of you picking names that aren't pronounced how they are spelled...I have one of those names...it is NOT fun growing up with a name that is *entirely* French (first, middle and last). Think of how it will sound on the playground - you don't want other kids to say "huh?" when your kids introduce themselves...

Girls:
Caroline Elisabeth
Katherine (Kate)
Sydney

Boys:
Robert Christopher

TxTechCutie 01-04-2003 03:32 AM

jess_pom 01-04-2003 12:54 PM

Boys:
Taylor Michael (but Taylor is my cousin's last name)

I used to have a whole bunch, but I forget them all now!

valkyrie 01-04-2003 01:04 PM

For girls, I've always liked the name Anicca. I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling, but it's a Pali word. I also like Camille.

For boys, I think my favorite now is Tobias, but I also like Brennan Marshall (after my 2 favorite Supreme Court justices, however now that I think law sucks, I probably wouldn't pick that).

Although my real answer to the question is: OMG, if I had a baby today, I would FREAK OUT!! I am SO not ready for that!! ;)

carnation 01-04-2003 01:30 PM

Y'all just make sure that you pick several names for each sex in case your husband decides to get involved and be picky. Mine did and I was so shocked that Mr. Jock even cared about girls' names! We went around and around about names for baby girls. I'm okay with what we agreed on but next time is MY turn.

AOIIsilver 01-04-2003 02:28 PM

Baby names

Girls:
Madeline Rose
Arbutus Magnolia

Boy:

We are SO ready for a baby. ;)

Please note that there are no male GCers on this thread telling us, "Well I like Taylor Michael but I had a great-uncle named Taylor who smelled really bad... so I think I'll go for Stony Creek Johnson instead!"

I do not have any names picked out specifically for my future children, but when I hear a name I like, I take note.

Haha Carolina,

I was just going to post that the first Male GCer to comment on the names for his future children will be subjected to endless ridicule from the rest of the XY chromosome population on here.

Oh crap, or was that a ploy to get one of us to post on this thread :D

Kitso

Nefertiti aside, I think there are some names listed on here that would result in a lifetime of torture in the schoolyard. I wonder if people think about that??

I agree... without naming names, some of these names are just plain AWFUL. Poor kids...

***With note to Jess_Pom: As I was reading this thread I noticed that Taylor Michael was one of your actual names... and I was not trying to make fun of you. Actually that is a very nice name... I just picked two random "populars" and put them together.

Some people just don't. Our friends didn't realize for over 5 years that their daughter's initials are ASS. Bet she'll never get anything monogrammed.

SKRae 01-05-2003 12:16 AM

Well, hopefully when I decide to have children I won't be alone in this decision, but here is what I have thought about.

First kid: Skylar Rae (or Ray) hey, my parents basically game me an unisex name and I am proud of it! Plus Rae is my middle name and the name of my grandfather, I feel as though I should pass his memory down to my kids.

Girl: At one point it was going to be Quinn Marie, after one of my very good friends. Now I think I am going to rethink that name and find another one.

Boy: Gabriel John I love the name Gabriel and John just so happens to be for John Lennon.

AlphaSigOU 01-05-2003 01:43 AM

No wife, no kids, no hurry for either. Eventually I'll get married and start a family.

I'm kind of partial to Ian Fleming for a boy's name; Ian Fleming was the author of the original James Bond novels. (Don't get any ideas, guys, I'm not naming my daughter Pussy Galore! ;) :) :D)

I almost became a III (my father was Jr.) but my mother put a stop to that. So I got named after my maternal grandfather and my uncle (both now deceased).

rayray 01-05-2003 02:41 AM

Ok seeing all the names is making me want to share my ideas too

Girl- Breia Nichole- just a note that is pronounced Bri-a
-Nikkia cuz Kia sounds really cute
-And i've always loved Haylee Hope
Boy- Anthony
-I would love to name him after the father if he doesnt have a funky name

LOL...My best friend's initials are STD.

RedHotChiO 01-05-2003 05:11 PM

I know a girl whose initials are HAG.

LuaBlanca 06-16-2003 10:35 PM

*BUMP*

I was thinking about this today....

Girls:
Cora Aline
Isabella Adele
Nina Noel
Michaela Kenadi

Other random girls names I like: Alexandria, Andrea (pronounced ahn-DRAY-uh), Adriana, Ariana....I like A names! lol

Boys:
Tucker Thomas
Jason Ernest Thomas
Trent Alexander
Ian Lucas

Twin Boys: Maximus and Nicodemus (just call them Max & Nick and it's all good lol)

Twin Girls: Melody and Harmony...'cuz I think that's cool

Mixed Twins: Aidan and Nadia (Aidan is Nadia spelled backwards...)

I still like Emmalyn Grace and I think I like Lyndon.

I think now I want an Oliver or an Aidan. Since I have a name no one else I know has, I want the same thing for my kids. So it's gonna be hard finding a name for them.

I really like the name Hayden or Hadden. I just met a guy named Hadden. He's an SAE and very sweet. :)

Tom Earp 06-17-2003 12:01 AM

Hate Kids, I was once one! :)

sugar and spice 06-17-2003 12:05 AM

I like Emma and Caitlin for girls, and Patrick and David for boys . . . no clue on middle names though. I've always hated the "filler" middle names that almost nobody has for a first name but EVERYBODY has for a middle name: Lynn, Marie, Ann, Rose, Leigh. So there will be none of those for my kids. It all depends on what they sound like with the last name, and since I have no idea who I'll be marrying, I think it's a little early for that. :p

SigkapAlumWSU 06-17-2003 12:16 AM

Girls:
Milan
Katherine
Elizabeth
Rome

Boys:
Russell (after my father)
Alexander
Nicolas
David

What can I say, I like the sort of traditional names.
