New Years Resolutions!

What is everyone's new years resolution(s)?

Mine are:
1. Learn to cook better.
2. Gain 5 solid pounds.
3. Tone up my legs more.
4. Write to my grandmother at least once a month.

texas*princess 12-30-2002 04:53 PM

I resolve not to make any resolutions this year !! :p

hehehe

33girl 12-30-2002 04:56 PM

-Put $$$ in the savings every paycheck.
-Pay off my credit cards
-Exercise 5 days out of 7

Making resolutions like losing weight, saving money, etc. is pointless for me because I always break them.

So I resolve to just wake up happy every morning. That's the only thing I resolved last year and so far I've done a pretty great job.

That's a fabulous idea! I think i'll try that.
Although it will be a challenge once school starts back.

-trade in my "keg" for a 6-pack so i look hot for spring break
-become president or vice president of my fraternity in the fall

valkyrie 12-30-2002 08:38 PM

I really like the one about waking up happy every morning.

I suppose that I have more of a goal for 2003 than a resolution. I want to make a career change -- ideally, I would like to move to a small, touristy town on the west coast and start either a restaurant/coffee house or boutique, or some combination of the two. Maybe a hip restaurant that sells art and jewelry made by local artists. To make this possible, I'm going to read everything I can on how to start and run a business/restaurant and see what I can do to the condo to sell it and make some $$$ for the business. If I can, I might see about getting a pastry chef certificate. My current profession is the source of endless unhappiness, so 2003 is the year that I will make a change!

Also, I want to lose the "Pill weight" I gained. I would also extend an invitation to the authors of so called "studies" that show that the Pill doesn't cause weight gain. Sure. Put all kinds of crazy hormones in *your* body and then tell me that you don't want to eat the world. Right! ;)

Go along with OTW!!
I always resolve not to resolve but to at least get virtical every morning and breath!

Couple of times I doubted it until I read the Obit in morning paper!

Did anyone notice, that people die in alphabetical order? Look in the paper!:D

LuaBlanca 12-31-2002 12:37 AM

i want to stop my morning routine of a "medium french vanilla iced light 2 sugars and plain bagel toasted w/ strawberry cream cheese"......that's gonna be a toughy....

Peaches-n-Cream 12-31-2002 01:15 AM

I want to be happy and healthy. :) I want that for my family and friends as well.

tinydancer 12-31-2002 01:35 AM

Alphabetical order???

Oh, Tom - really!! (Actually that's real funny)

I would love to clean out a LOT of the junk in my house. No wonder I lose everything. Now I have lost a box of blank checks. "Baby Jesus, lost and found.." No, wait - that's another thread.

UKDaisy 12-31-2002 01:15 PM

...

- To lose weight!! Weight Watcher's here I come!!!!
- To believe in myself.
- To be happy! This year was a terrible year for me and it took me forever to learn what was wrong with me. In fact today I learned from my doctor. So I am going to spend this year overcoming that and being happy.

Good luck to all of us!!!!! We should keep this thread up and update on who's breaking theirs or not.

ADPi~Ally 12-31-2002 01:30 PM

-I need to stop procrasinating about studying and homework for spring. It is my last semester and I NEED to pass all my classes, 5 in all (upper division biology mostly)-Genetics, Cell physiology, plant taxonomy, advanced writing class, and geology 10 lab.

-And I spend way to much time on the internet and this thing, so hopefully I can cut back the amount of time I'm on here.

-Be happy

tinydancer 12-31-2002 02:53 PM

Well, I started on the New Year early and started cleaning. AND I found my box of blank checks! Thank you, Saint Anthony and Baby Jesus!!

PotentialPledge 12-31-2002 03:49 PM

1. To be a better president for my class
2. Not procrastinate as much
3. To reach colony status by March.

Rio_Kohitsuji 12-31-2002 05:36 PM

1. To lose about 20 pounds, my bf may not like the idea but oh well, heh.
2. To get KGX up and running better!
3. Keep my 3.4 GPA up throughout the next 2 semesters... :)

FAB*SpiceySpice 01-01-2003 11:36 PM

I have a lot so here goes:

-to go to EVERY CLASS every time I have it unless I am deathly ill
-to fix my handwriting (it's so messy sometimes *I* can't even read it and that makes studying my notes impossible  )
-to keep working out for 1-1 1/2 hours everyday like I do now
-to be more organized
-study more
-run for exec in the fall
-no drinking or smoking (I don't anyway, but it's important that it stays that way :D )

I have more, but that's all I can think of for right now....;)

agger_rob 01-02-2003 10:07 AM

start living by a budget

I had a very different experience with the pill... it made me lose my appetite when I first started taking it, and then after I got over the total loss of appetite, I don't eat anymore now than I did before.

As for my resolution, I really want to put money in savings. I meant to do that before but then I got stuck paying rent in two places so it was impossible. Now my old roommate has a new roommate, so those days are over :D

nucutiepie 01-02-2003 10:51 PM

- Go to all of my classes unless I am too sick

- Stop wasting so much time when I should be working

- Work out 5 days per week (I'm at like 3 to 4 right now)

- Wake up cheerful and early every morning!

aephi alum 01-02-2003 11:35 PM

- Pass the rest of my database administrator certification exams
- Find either a long-term contract job, or a permanent job
- Lose weight
- Get back into my exercise program
- Cut back on the booze
- Finish writing the cookbook I started working on
- Drive more safely (this after skidding into a guard rail the day after Christmas :( )

prospectiverushee 01-03-2003 10:47 PM

Not resolutions,but accomplishments

These are things I want to accomplsh this year

-find a better, higher paying job
-take the GRE and M.A.T
-pay off lingering LSU debt so that they'll release my transcript
-lose at least 30lbs. I'm 164. That's not bad, but I'm 5' 2" so that I weight to much for my height

axotiger 01-04-2003 09:22 PM

hmm let's see:
- work out after classes with amanda daily
- stop cursing
- go to church more regularly
- try not to break anymore guys' hearts [just kidding- but seriously, I'd like to try and NOT get bored of a guy after a few weeks... arg, it gets so aggrivating]
- keep up grades

CardinalSM 01-04-2003 09:52 PM

-Make sure I get the negative freshman fifteen (I already lost 7)!
-Go to my classes! (amazing concept)
-Get at least a 3.25
-Continue with my last year's resolution (be sunshine to people instead of clouds): meaning that I have now become addicted to putting cards in people's mailboxes when they are upset or anytime there is a holiday

But, my most important resolution: Walk with confidence, don't look at the ground, look ahead. Look people in the eyes and smile as I pass them. If I walk with confidence, I feel confident and things go better. And a smile goes a long way. Isnt there some sort of quote that says something like "Don't frown because you never know who could be falling in love with your smile?"

SKRae 01-05-2003 12:41 AM

I generally don't make new years resolutions, but here is what I want to improve on.

Spend more time with my friends

Quit working so much, this is the time to enjoy life, not waste it at a job (or 2). That is supposed to happen after college.

Spend more time with my sister and nephew

Stop trying to support my family

clean my room more than once every 2-3 weeks (goes along with not working as much)
