So what school's will be having spring recruitment???
if there are any pnm's out there that are going through, please post your stories!!!!

Munchkin03 12-19-2002 10:52 PM

My school will, but since I'll be a Rho Chi, I'm not sure if I could talk about it that much.

I edited it to put that we start on January 26th. Our Panhel (which I'm president of!) is hosting a Panhellenic Recruitment Kickoff that centers around Superbowl. It will be a lot of fun!

That's right!! Purdue has January recruitment and I am SO excited! This will be my first time "on the other side"... hehe. My chapter has been practicing songs, chants, you name it for months. We are pumped to bring in the new pledge class! :)

Go rush! :D

Jhawkalum 12-20-2002 03:48 PM

I believe Depauw in Indiana does recruitment this winter.

FuzzieAlum 12-20-2002 05:07 PM

Well my chapter will be recolonizing this spring, but CWRU is going back to spring recruitment anyway. I hope to help out with the recolonization, so I'll post what and if I can from it - hopefully give a pic of what recolonization is like from the sorority's end without of course revealing any sensitive details.

josh8o 12-20-2002 06:50 PM

We only do informal recruitment, but we will be doing it hardcore second semester - my class had 11 girls and we're determined to get 11 quality ladies again! I'm really nervous to be on the other side though.

Sweetums 12-21-2002 12:24 AM

UBC will not be having formal recruitment, but there are 2 wonderful chapters with room to take girls by COB! The sisters of Alpha Phi and D Phi E are looking forward to meeting girls interested in joining.

GREEKSCU~ can santa Clara still have formal rush even though greeks are no longer recognized on campus?

Aphigal 12-23-2002 09:58 PM

UOP...

The University of the Pacific is hosting its fraternity (and sorority?) rush in January... my ex-boyfriend who's still remains my best friend will be going through rush there. I've had the fortune of being able to meet several of the fraternity men at UOP and can honestly say that they're absolutely wonderful guys who are going to show all of the rushees a great time!

Please cross your fingers for Mike!

XOXO,
Annie.

Yes indeed! I just got an email from my chapter's formal recruitment chair inviting alums to come and help out. I won't be able to go :( but recruitment is the first 2 weekends in February, with bid day on Feb. 10.

I've posted on this before, but I'm afraid that the move to spring formal rush is going to kill numbers. Fraternities deferred rush from August to September, and it hurt numbers... I guess we'll see.

INDIANA UNIVERSITY of PENNSYLVANIA at Indiana is having Informal Rush in January. If anyone has recruitment ideas.. email me at QNQJ@IUP.EDU.

My baby sister is a freshman at the University of Maryland and they hold formal rush in the Spring - it starts on January 28th! So she'll be heading to parties in just a few short weeks!!! YAY! There's no DZ at Maryland :( but she has 14 FANTASTIC sororities to choose from:

Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Alpha Phi
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Phi Epsilon
Delta Gamma
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
Zeta Tau Alpha

Maybe I can convince her to join GC and update everyone on her rush story

If anyone knows anything about Greek life at Maryland - let me know, it sounds great!

HeavenslilAngel 12-29-2002 01:17 AM

We don't have Spring Recruitment, however, we will be doing COR- Continuous Open Recruitment (COB but we call it COR) January 28-30th I believe. We are hoping for a large new member group. I'll try to update ya'll on the results. Best wishes to all potential new members who are going through spring recruitment and to those chapters who are participating in spring recruitment.

PurdueGirlie 12-29-2002 03:44 AM

Well, I'm no Perry Mason... hehe

You don't have to worry about that happening. We have 600+ girls signed up for rush. There is no way I'd (or any other Purdue sorority members on GC, which I think there is only one other) be able to figure out who you were. And I definitely would not try to persuade you in any way to join my chapter. Purdue has 16 chapters participating in formal rush and I am certain that there is more than one you'd feel at home with.

Good luck during recruitment and maybe by some small chance, I'll get to rush you if you come to my house.

P.S. Stay warm out there! I remember how cold I was last year!! :)

Iowa, one of my greatest friends happens to be the Panhellenic Coordinator there :) All of the sororities are great, so good luck to her!

Tracie

p.s. As the Greek Advisor at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH we have recruitment the first week in February. Chapters participating are:

Alpha Sigma Alpha
Delta Zeta
Iota Delta Chi (local)
Tau Omega (local)
Kappa Delta Phi nas (regional)

CardinalSM 12-30-2002 12:49 AM

Mercer has a spring rush for the fraternities (I think, but it's my first year here :) ) but the sororities don't participate in spring rush. I know that the University of Richmond has spring rush because my friend is going through. Another friend also told me that University of North Florida normally has spring rush but it got cancelled this year for some reason.

Edited for clarity :)

APhiRattlerGal 12-31-2002 04:54 PM

St. Mary's is having Formal Recruitment beginning at the end of january. i'm pretty excited/nervous about it. I know we'll pick up some wonderful ladies!

XOMichelle 01-01-2003 05:50 PM

My sister is going through rush at Duke in a week and a half! I am soooo excited for her, I think she will really enjoy being ina sorority. If anyone knows anything about the sororities at Duke, tell me!!! Is rush competitive? Should we scramble to get her recs? I'm getting her a Chi O one, and I can probably scrounge up a Pi Phi one too, but it would be tough. Anyway, all the info possible is good, and I'll keep you posted!
ll,
M

GtownGirl98 01-03-2003 01:17 AM

Georgetown College SR
Alpha Gamma Delta
Kappa Delta
Phi MU
Sigma Kappa

Will all be participating in Recruitment. I can understand why numbers would be lower for the Spring Schools but I think that it is better for the groups as a whole. That way ladies aren't making surface discisons about the group that they choose.

I'm a big fan of deferred Rush, too. I'd imagine our numbers would be way higher if we did it in the Fall, but we're about quality over quantity right now (and we can recruit upperclasswomen in the fall, so it's not as if we're not always rushing!). I think it's more important to have 5 women make a solid commitment and to be active later on in the year than it is to have 10 women make a commitment and have 3-4 depledge first semester or deactivate later on.

sugar and spice 01-03-2003 06:21 PM

I know that some of the sororities at the University of Wisconsin will be having informal recruitment (mine is one of them!). It'll be my first time "on the other side" and I'm really excited.

I'll try to get some information on which other sororities are doing informal rush too -- I know there are more.

APhiAngel-

Yes, we can still have formal rush...its just that the University doesn't sponsor the events, and we can't advertise on campus. We have excellent IFC and Panhellenic support, and they monitor and administer rush in exactly the same manner as it was done when we were still on campus. Hopefully numbers this year will be at an all-time high...us rush chairs have been working our butts off this year!
