Obnoxious Commercials
I know we have threads about favorite commercials and freaky commercials, but which ones do you just find really annoying?
* The split screen Wizard air-freshener commercial where there isn't room for a plug....just unplug something for goodness sake! * The frickin' dancing Joe Boxer guy * The Bell Tire woman |
That monostat commercial advertising that capsule you insert in your , that gives me the hibby jibbies.
|
The little boy who is eating and eating and eating and wiping and wiping and wiping his face with napkins till there is a HUGE pile...It kind of "grosses me out".
I'll chime in on Joe Boxer though my daughter thinks its hilarious. THE VIAGRA COMMERCIAL! All of a suden this guy has pep in his step! Does anyone have the "BIG MOUTH" wireless phone commercial? They have distorted the faces so the mouths are HUGE and the people look like they are severely deformed. |
The Progresso soup ads that say "you're a grown up and grown ups don't eat condensed soup." @#$% you, Campbell's is the best.
Oh, and the "pearl pearl, she's a pearl girl" ads for Tampax...only because the friggin' song sticks in my head the rest of the day after I hear it." (Not to mention that it completely discredits Tampax's whole "we are better because we have cardboard applicators and care about the environment" selling point.) |
For all 3 of you who get the Pittsburgh business infomerical channel.....There is one for Gloria Horn Sewing Studio. It is these middle aged women wearing sequined vests & cowboy hats line dancing & lip-syncing to their theme song. "Come on down to Gloria Horn.....you'll be glad that you did...."etc..... But it's the same 5 line song being sang over and over and over again. And it sticks in your head!!!! *beating head against desk* It's so lame, it's fascinating.

Any of you living in the SoCal area knows about Cal Worthington. This guy is a character. He's a car salesman in North San Diego who films commercials with animals like bears and horses and other stuff. He has this cowboy get up but you can tell dude grew up nowhere near a ranch. Dude applies the show polish to the dome because NO ONE"s hair is THAT black and shiny no matter how old he is.
Anyways, he gets on TV with this HILARIOUS jingle "When you wanna good old car, go see Cal, when you wanna real good deal go see cal" Sung to the theme "When you're happy and you know it clap your hands" Then they cut to him and he speaks like an auctioneer: "I got a BEAUTIFUL 99 Chevy Cavalier, Thirty Four Nine Ninty Five, I got a PRETTY LITTLE Ford Escort, Sixty Four Nine Ninty Five." And he speaks so fast that you can't remember any of those deals. Cal rocks, I remember seeing him when I was five, and he looked like he was 75 then, and I'm twenty now. |

Do we have anyone from Orlando in here? There's these godawful Family AutoMart commercials down here that play at like, midnight and they are so incredibly obnoxious. But my boyfriend and his fraternity brothers love it. I don't hate it as much as I used to, because the jokes we make about it now are funny, but those guys are on crack.
|
This is old school (I haven't seen it in a few years), but is the commerical that wins my personal "most annoying of all time" award. It's the Arby's one with the guy walked along in an empty city, screaming "Where is everybody? Where'd everyone go?" and this other guy walks up and says "Arby's 99 cent roast beef sale".
Ugh. Stooooopid! |
The Tampax new Pearl tampons. Has anybody noticed that the women featured in the tampon commercials look a little too happy? They've always got these huge smiles on their face and look like they're enjoying every second of their day. I'm sorry but when I have my period I am not the most joyous person in the world.
"Pearl, pearl...she's a pearl girl...." AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! |

The Tampax commercial....
The Joe Boxer commercials are especially disturbing... The Geico commercials where the gecko is running through the field to embrace some woman, or where she's spinning him in circles in said field... The new eBay commercials w/ the parody of "My Way," or whatever that Sinatra song is... That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there are more. |
Old Navy has yet to put out a commercial that doesn't annoy me.
Some of the newer drug ads just show happy people running through fields with a voiceover of "Ask your doctor about _____" - They don't even tell you what the drug is supposed to treat! Somehow I've managed to miss the Tampax ads. From what it sounds like, I'm not missing much! |
We have this fat guy that does local commercials for just about everyone. Sells Satellite dishes, carpet and several other products. He came out of nowhere. Famous for his bugged out eyes and strange gestures..

How sad is this that after living in Melbourne for 5 years, I have this entire commercial memorized, because they play it ALL the time! I know just what you're talking about astro! |
I'll ask this question so you can see which commercial I'm talking about:
Do you know ANY child that has asked the UPS man to stay and play with them? |

Just one word:
TWINS I want to throw something at the tv every time that one comes on. I forget which beer it is for, but I'm not drinking it ever again! |
Coors, and they're hot. They were featured in Maxim
|
Hee Hee - thanks Stan!
I knew someone would know. Actually the "singing" on that commercial bugs me too. Has anyone else noticed that many commercials will use a well-known song but instead of the original singer(s) they will use some cluck with NO voice at all?? That really annoys me. |
There is this commercial for Hardee's that they show in MO....the 6 dollar burger or whatever.....
Ok, picture this little kid and his dad ATTACKING these cheeseburgers with ketchup, pickles, mustard, etc falling onto the table. It's so sick. At one point this guy has burger 'juice' or whatever the hell it is running down his arm and there's all these slurping noises- SOOOO GROSS!! It's supposed to make it appetizing.....totally lost on me.... |

I hate the stupid Gap striped sweater commercials. As if seeing those guys flitting around b/c of their special new sweater! is going to make me buy my bf one. Ugh.....
Oh yeah, and those, "Don't commit insurance fraud b/c you'll embarass your kids" commericals. |

Actually Stan...yes! When me and my dad were out praticing softball or whatnot we'd always ask our UPS man to a play a pick-up game of softball. Or..the all-famous one is when a bunch of us were out playing touch football and our UPS man would jump in for a good half hour and play! :) ..and by the way..his name was Mark.. lol http://teenspot.com/boards/images/smilies/top.gif |
BOWFLEX COMMERCIALS
That GOD AWFUL TOm Jones music singing in the background makes it PHYSICALLY PAINFUL to watch. I mean have you LISTENED to the words? something about horny and rocking your body? Tom Jones? Ugh! No thanks! |

Anyone who lives in New England has probably heard the annoying jingle for "Foxwoods Casino"....
My Sociology class burst out into that song right before our final the other day... "THE WONDER OF IT ALL...TAKE A CHANCE, MAKE IT HAPPEN...etc." it was amusing, but incredibly pathetic because we all knew the WORDS...(right down to the "Meet me at FOXWOODS! YEAH!" grrr I remember, a WHILE back, some local car dealer was advertising his place....and RANDOMLY at the end of the commercial he yells "HEY CHICO!" and a LLAMA runs by....that commercial was SOO DUMB |
My unfavorite is still the one I mentioned in the thread about WalMart--the heffa who runs all over WalMart frantically purchasing the best cuts of meat and the freshest fruits to stuff the faces of the bandies who sit in uniform in her living room and chow down.

I HATE THAT COMMERCIAL!!!!!!!!! I SING IT FOR DAYS!! growl.. there is this new stupid on on the WB about how great it is to be from boston.. they are like "a three decker view... parks to run through".. oh god, it's long. :D |

The Body Fantasies commercial. It comes on 40xs a day on TLC. It only happens around Christmas. I have never ever felt that some nasty, stank, drugstore body spray will be my "rebirth." I also hate the ones for "Bod" that show up around Christmas. "MMM, I want your Bod..." Didn't people stop talking like that in 1986? There's one for Hancock fabrics that was coming on TLC daytime about 50 times a day a few weeks ago. There was this woman that kinda looked like she belonged to one of those religious groups that requires the women to keep their hair long and wear the long jean skirts. She was just waaaay too enthusiastic about fabric. "Hancock Fabric...we're fabric and SO much more" Yeah, because we all know how exciting sewing notions are. Plus, when she said "so" her eyes popped out of her head. Creepy. Lately, I've been hating the Toys R Us commercial where Geoffery the Giraffe calls stores and asks if they have certain toys and then says really loudly "WELL WE DO" ...I think I watch too much TV! |
This commercial obnoxious or annoying. It's the way that they used the background song that bothers me.
I think it's a Ralph Lauren commercial. They show all these models showing off the clothing. The song in the background is Creedance Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son". The only part of the song they play is the beginning where they sing "Some folks are born made to wear the flag. Red, white and blue...." as if to play off the whole 'American' image. If they would've included more than that first verse in their commercial than viewers would realize that it's a very anti-war and, in some ways, anti-American song. The song is about how people who have money or family members of status won't be drafted while they American government will draft those without those resources. I just think Polo used the wrong song to personify this pro-American image. |
I hate the anti pot comericals harmless? But my dentist asked me if I smoke. Maybe I should I got cancer. Harmless?
|
I hate any commercials for attorneys. I feel pain for my entire profession if I am ever unfortunate enough to view one. Yes, I'm going to call 1-800-INJURED right now. Then I'm going to call Peter Francis Geraci's Bankruptcy {{{INFO}}} Tapes. Egads.

AAUUUGGGGHHHH! Peter Frances Geraci! MAKE IT STOP!!!! |
Can you hear me now? Good!
Can you hear me now? Good! Can you hear me now? Good! Can you hear me now? Good! Can you hear me now? Good! |
Hey Stan! Can you hear me now?
I can't believe that one hadn't been mentioned yet. Talk about annoying!! |
I hate:
--ALL the Geico commercials, ESPECIALLY the ones with the damned stupid gecko!! --the Cottonelle commerials where they keep zooming in on people's butts and say, "GET CLEAN WHERE IT REALLY MATTERS!!" Yuck!!! --the napkin commercial where the boy keeps wiping his face and throwing the dirty napkins in this huge nasty pile --the denture commercials that say, "works 75% better!" and the small print says, "versus using no adhesive." Well, duh! --the soup commericals that makes fun of condensed soup. I love me some Campbell's vegetable beef soup!! So screw you and your fancy uncondensed soup. LOL |
arr!!!

All the anti-pot and smoking ads get on my nerves. I had a friend OD in high school and I have sereve asthma so I don't do either. But still, like half the kids I know that smoke pot their parents do it with them. Or they lie to their parents about calling and stuff. That calling to check in stuff doesn't work. The ads only get made fun of. |
