Best Spring Break Spot for Greeks
 

we're trying to plan our trip for spring break 2003. last year, we were booking a cruise and half of the people forgot about it so we decided to stick to road trips and the beach.


so, where is the spot that mostly likely most of the GREEKS will be?
and when is everyone's spring break?

CANCUN, BABY!!!!!!!!

Last year this is where most of my house went. It can't be beat as far as beautiful clear water and nightlife is concerned.....they have some of the top 10 clubs in the world. Look up Dady O's/ Dady Rock on the web for convincing.

This will be my 13th year going down there, my family has a timeshare. I'll be there the same time as you!

My only complaint would be that there seems to be a lot more kids on their senior spring break there, but if you go to the right clubs its easy to see which ones attract an older crowd. (Hey I'm only 20 so i guess I can't say anything.) Now that I'm in a sorority I've met some really cool Greeks down there every year, too.

Safety/ crime is so not a concern as long as you stay in a respectable place, the Oasis is like THE HOTEL to be at, MTV was there last year, but a lot of my friends like, didn't have a lock on the door, got stuff stolen, and one didn't have a door b/c it fell off the day we got there and never got fixed!

I know you said you wanted to do road trips and the beach, but if you go through Student Express they have packages starting at like 400, w/ airfare and all inclusive food.

Basically, it's like a second home to me so if anyone wants to know about any hotels or anything just ask!!

I'll have to agree with AXJules on this one. I went to Cancun two years ago and stayed at the Oasis...had an awesome time!! I went with a group of 11 (9 sisters and 2 close friends) and we always had something to do. The weather was great, the bars were lots of fun, and the beach was so beautiful!

Know when MY spring break is??? Feburary 20,21. They're officially called "winter reading days".....
That's right - two days!!

I will never enjoy the rite which is "spring break". Professors even make assignments due those days or shortly after so that most people in my faculty just stay around and work....

PANAMA CITY BEACH!!!!!!!!!

The Birth of all great college Spring Breaks. After three years of never going on Spring Break, my sorority sisters and I wanted to go out with a bang! Panama City Beach was everything it promised to be. Trashy, wild and loads of fun. My friends and I literally met new people everywhere we went. That might just be the nature of Spring Break, but you certainly won't be disappointed if you go. People from all over the country flock to Panama City for Spring Break.

You can't beat South Padre! I've had more than my share of fun down there. Lounging on the beach during the day and partying in Mexico at night.:D

I will be louging on the sand on South Padre Island... bought my plane ticket last night. Its going to be me and 5 of my BEST DZ friends. Plus a buch of my fav. fraternity boys are staying down the beach! I cannot wait for March 15!!!!!!!!

I've been to Cancun twice, but not during spring break.

I believe ours is the last week of March [if I'm not mistaken].

It'd be cool to go off somewhere just so I could party with my fellow college animals...but who needs to go away when it's Spring Break here all year round?

Cancun is ok, Panama City is crazy, can't wait to see what it's like in South Padre. That's the place myself and like ten or so brothers and some friends are going to call "spring break" this year.

I am a Pi Phi at NMSU and I know all my sisters are plaaning a trip to Puerto Penasco! Most of the talk in the Greek community is about last years trip their!

i went to cancun in 2000 and bahamas in 2001 and both were great spots BUT Cancun was sooo much great! The best place i've been to so far. Trying to to Miami this spring break. Anyone going there? my spring break is march 10-17, i believe

okay, so that last post didn't make a lot of sense. Meant to say that CANCUN was soo much fun! I wanted to go again this year but no one seems to have any money. I'm trying to go to Miami this year. Hopefully, that all works out!

Last year about 20 of my sorority sisters went to Puerto Penasco aka Rocky Point! It was the best week, and it was cheap...only 120 dollars each for 5 days of us staying in a beach house. Lots of ASU greeks go here for spring break because its close and cheap, and you can go even at last minute. We'll probably end up there again, for my 3rd year in a row. Been to Mazatlan the year before I started college and that was beautiful and tons of fun too, but expensive. I spent atleast 1200 for a week.

How do you all afford this?! Im lucky if I can afford school for next semester, let alone a big trip! My spring break will be to good ol' Pittsburgh... and probobly to the bar with 33Girl... Maybe we can go to Tequila Willies for that "Southern" feel...

...unless someone wants to pack me in a suitcase....

I think Panama City Beach is the trashiest place on Earth, and I wouldn't be caught dead there between the first week in March through the last week in April. But, I don't dig the same things a lot of people do--cheap booze, lots of parties, and the ability to hook up with a lot of different people. If that's your bag, go for it. But, if you're looking for a inexpensive place that isn't total Redneck Riviera, you can always visit the towns to the west of PCB. Lots of college students go there, it's clean, and there's still a lot to do outside of the beach.

If you've got the money, I'd suggest just leaving the country altogether. At one point in the spring, it was cheaper to go to London (from Boston) than it was for me to fly home to Florida. The drinking ages are lower over there than they are here, so you can always bring your newest members and littles. :) It's not all trendy Euro over there, either--if you want an old fashioned American pub, you can have that, if you want to drink a real Black and Tan in Dublin, you can do that--and pretty cheaply. Clubs close WAY later than they do here...I stayed out from 7 PM to 7 AM one night, and was able to take the bus back to the place I stayed.

From the looks of it, the Mr. and I are heading to Dublin, then taking a hop to London for Spring Break. I'd imagine I'll spend about the same amount in 5 days in Dublin than I would 5 in Cancun.

Puerto Penasco is just about 4 hours from Phoenix, AZ, 1 1/2 hours passed the border into Mexico. Its just a small town but it has a lot of bars, again small, but its cheap and everyone there is your age. I think its more popular for us in AZ but sometimes you meet people from elsewhere. Its right on the beach and its great weather during spring break.

Two of my brothers went there last year and had a great time. I saw the pictures...;)

This year we are rolling down with about 16 guys or so. I've been looking forward to this since the day school started. We're taking bets on who gets arrested first down there. :)

Butterfly, I am so jealous!!! I spent a couple weeks trying to covince my sisters to go to vegas, but alas... I failed.

20 of us are going to Acapulco in less than 2 weeks! I'm excited about it, but I still wanted to go to Vegas, damnit!

I and a bunch of non-greek friends from KU (well one is in ADPi) will be heading to South Padre!!! Driving the 18 hours from Kansas City is going to be fun <sarcasm>.

Right now trying to get on of my brothers to come along with us so it will half greek and half not but shouldn't matter since those non greeks are some of my best friends ever!!!

Any one going to Padre...Look for me, I'll the average height, skinny pale kid who is wasted ;)

I am right there with you! My boyfriend is leaving for Cancun on Thursday and the whole thread on Cancun isn't helping me! I am putting my faith in him and I know he's coming home to me, so it's ok...

Me too! My boyfriend and his fraternity brothers are leaving for Miami in a week. They will be gone for a week, while I am stuck working in the real world. (Tip: don't graduate college...you might have to work in the real world and you can't have that much fun anymore!) I have 100% trust in him, but I am soooooooo jealous that I don't get to go to the beach :( Oh well, while he's spending money, I will be making lots of it! :p

4 years in college and not one time going anywhere fun for spring break. i always ended up staying home working. but i tried to look at it like this, at least i'm earning money and not spending it..........yeah......didn't make me feel any better then either. on well, maybe i'll take my vacation time next year and go. i'll be older, but darnit i'll be there.

I drove my boyfriend and his friends off at the airport last night. My friend's boyfriend is away all weekend too, so we're having dinner tonight and just having a girl's weekend. That should keep me from missing him too much right?

Hope everyone has a great and safe Spring Break from all of us who have to work! :p

Why do I see this happening to me as well? I can full envision someone getting thrown into jail and holding up the whole process of returning from Miami. Boys are crazy, I tell you! :rolleyes: I hope your boyfriend makes it home soon. I know you have to be going nuts!

Me three! With the group of guys my boyfriend is going with, I can see them getting into trouble as well. They almost got arrested in Rosarito one year for brawling in the streets and breaking a window! I would hope that they are more mature, but it's funny how guys revert to that behavior on Spring Break...

Just got back from S. Padre (24 hours after leaving)...

There were a ton of Greeks there...and a lot of antigreek sentiment.

But I met Beta's from Iowa State, Texas Tech, Arizona, Oklahoma.

From my own school there were ATO's, AXiD's, APhi's, Gamma Phi's, AGS's, and me the lone Beta.

Met ZTA's from Arkansas

Theta's from god knows where

Sigma Kappa's from Illinois Wesleyan

AGD's from locations unknown

Couple ADPi's from various spots.

Alpha Chi Omega's and Kappa's from Wisconsin...

There were tons of flags flown by people from a lot of the major houses and actually quite a few locals (or smaller Nationals I had never heard of.)

Well, my boyfriend and his bros are officially in Miami now. Sadly, I have planned something to do for almost every hour until he gets back to good old Maryland! I have to keep myself busy or else I will drive myself crazy wondering what he's up to. I am secretly praying for rain, but I do hope he has a good time. :p I just wish I was at the beach too! Hope everyone is enjoying their break or enjoyed it! I am working and moving, so I guess I am having as much fun as I can!
