Area Training Schools?

Hey, has anyone found any information online about the upcoming area training schools? I know last year they posted all the information online, but I can't find anything about this years.

I'm very excited about goin' since I was just elected into VP Finance of Beta Gamma for 2003!!!!! :)

I can't wait to meet other Alpha Gam girls!!!!

Let me know if you guys know of an itinerary or anything!

Thanks!

AGDLynn 12-11-2002 07:45 PM

All I know is that the one for Area F will be in Alpharetta (i.e., North Atlanta), GA, at the end of February.

Your President should have the info. I believe that our deadline has passed for IHQ registration, I believe.

Congratulations! VPF is one of the toughest jobs!

SnowyAlphaGam 12-11-2002 08:03 PM

Yeah, all I know is, its Feb 7-9 in Kansas City. We're registered and all, i believe... the current VPF is handling all that. We just got word that IHQ accepted our grant to send VPF and Finance Advisor this year.

Unregistered- 12-11-2002 08:34 PM

Last year we were unable to send our members to Oklahoma because it simply took up too much time and money...and it was too far.

I'd like to see how they're going to pull off sending our girls to KC this year. It's just too far!!!

alphagambaby 12-11-2002 08:46 PM

I'm the new VPF for my chapter too... I did my first EC report and wow... I didn't realize how difficult this job would be! I'm going to the TLC in Louisville... is anyone else going to that one? I'd love to meet you! And for those of you that have been to these things before... what are they like? Is it all business or any fun too?

Loyally,
Abby

AGDLynn 12-11-2002 09:16 PM

You're kept fairly busy most of the time cause of the short period, but it is still a wonderful way to meet sisters that you would probably never meet and to get great ideas on helping you and your chapter.

Also, it's a great opportunity for 1st time officers to see how the Fraternity gives support to the collegians and their advisors. There is an actual person at the end of that email or snail mail address!;) :D

DWAlphaGam 12-12-2002 10:13 AM

I'm going to the one for Area G in Philadelphia (I hope). I faxed in my registration the day after the deadline because my chapter advisor didn't give me the forms until then. I haven't heard anything back yet, but hopefully I will still be able to go! It will be my first big AGD event as an advisor (or at all, actually...I didn't get to go to TLC or Convention as an undergrad).

AGDZO Susan 12-12-2002 01:07 PM

I know that IHQ was expecting a flurry of registrations a few days after the deadline so don't fret! I think they'll be sending everyone's confirmation packet at the same time.

DWAlphaGam 12-12-2002 01:27 PM

Yay, thanks Susan! That makes me feel better. Glad to see IHQ is working with Alpha Gam time. :)

winnieb 12-15-2002 04:55 PM

I will be at TLC in Kansas City-- as Finance Advisor for Epsilon Beta chapter. I am looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Wendi

SnowyAlphaGam 12-15-2002 06:29 PM

Hey, does anyone know if there will be Alpha Gam stuff sold at the training schools? I know they usually sell jewelry, clothes and stuff at Convention and TLC, and was wondering if they will do the same.

One of the girls from my chapter went last year and she said they didn't, but it was one of the first ones she was at. I'd love to be able to buy AGD stuff when in Kansas. Being a Canadian, shipping and duty is so expensive for us to buy it online and whatnot.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

AGDZO Susan 12-16-2002 12:16 PM

They didn't sell anything at the other ones last year and I doubt they'll do it this year either as I haven't heard anything in any of the info I've received from those working on TLC.

AlphaGamJLo 12-16-2002 12:27 PM

Hi from Theta Epsilon!!!

I'm going to the TLC in Alpharetta, GA.......I just got elected to VP Finance, and even though I know that it's a difficult position, I'm really excited to be in this office. I can't wait to meet my other sisters!!! Is anybody else going to Alpharetta on Feb 28-Mar 1?

Buff Rose 12-17-2002 12:17 AM

hey girls,

I know I don't post much but welcome to my busy life. Anyways, I live in Vinings which is in west ATL and would love to meet some of you guys when you are up here. I am the VP of the Housing Committee at GA Tech and am going to the Housing conference in February. I was wondering if anyone else was going.

Erin

hawaiiagd 01-23-2003 04:01 AM

Believe it or not... Delta Sigma will actually have 3 members at the TLC in Kansas City...

Our Chapter President, VP President, and... me.

DWAlphaGam 01-23-2003 10:45 AM

Sheesh, no one is going to be in Philly. Oh well, guess I have to wait until Convention next year to meet you guys! :D

Zeta Theta is going to have a strong showing at TLC. I think the chapter president, VPS, VPR, and VPF, as well as the CA, myself, and another advisor (my sister-daughter! :)) will be in attendance. I was so excited to get my confirmation packet a couple of weeks ago. It should be a very informative and interesting weekend!

AGDLynn 01-23-2003 08:57 PM

Alpharetta!

The only thing I know of that is being sold is a TLC shirt that was advertised in the TLC packet.

See ya'll!

Erin, anyone heard from Wendy?

Loyally,
Lynn

reagd 01-24-2003 12:08 AM

I'll be in KC and Alpharetta. Hope to meet a bunch of new sisters.
I'm looking forward to both.

I won't be to Philly for TLC... but I do get back there from time to time... after all, that's where I'm originally from...

In fact, I was there just before Christmas.. but only for a short time to attend my grandmother's funeral. I'm hoping to make it back there again late April/early May. Planning to tie it in with my vacation to the Kentucky Derby this year!!! Woo hoo! I'll have to let you know, so we can meet for lunch or something.

Congrats on your group heading to your area TLC! With the amount of money us Hawaii girls are spending to send only 3 members... any mainland chapter could easily have sent 6 (or more.) Ah well... that's the way it goes... at least we're going :)

hilla12 01-30-2003 02:42 PM

TLC Philly

I am going to be at TLC in Philly too! Coming from Michigan, they really need to have one closer, luckily we are able to fly, but otherwise it would have been a long long drive. We have myself (VPR), our VPF, our President, VPscholarship, Chapter advisor, and Scholarship advisor going... It should be a good time! I really hope they are selling stuff there, that would be, well... convenient:D

SnowyAlphaGam 02-06-2003 12:26 PM

KANSAS CITY!

TLC Kansas City starts tomorrow! I can't wait! Maybe I should start packing! =)

Who's all goin' to Kansas City this weekend!? I'm so excited to meet everyone!

Yay, GC represent in Philly! :D

I just found out that my chapter's VPS will not be in attendance after all, but we're third in scholarship so I don't think it's much of a problem. I'm looking forward to all of the advisor programs, though. I think they will be very helpful.

Let us know how Kansas City goes this weekend!

winnieb 02-10-2003 12:20 AM

I am home from TLC in KC--- okay so i live here, didn't have to travel---
I enjoyed meeting alot of new sisters!!! Had a good time!!!
I was stuck in finance meetings the entire time--"finance is fun"--who are they kidding???:)

Okay--and SnowyAlphaGam--- I roomed with the FA from your chapter!!!! What a small world!!!! Would you please pm me her email address--thanks!

greeklawgirl 02-10-2003 01:36 AM

YAY for Wendi posting! Haven't seen you here in a long time--welcome back, sis! :D

Did you get to meet any of my Chapman girls this weekend? I think Erin, Cathy and a few others were there...I know they were really excited!

Tell us all about it!

Unregistered- 02-10-2003 03:53 AM

Still waiting on word from MaiLy (hawaiiagd) to see how her KC experience went! The Hawaii girls trekked all the way to KC on Thursday and they're not expected back till tomorrow night I think.

AGDZO Susan 02-10-2003 03:11 PM

I saw Mai Ly and the collegians at KC - I don't think they ever got on Central Time!!! Mai Ly said they are flying home Monday morning (Central Time) and should be home Monday afternoon (Hawaii time).

winnieb 02-10-2003 11:49 PM

I did not get to meet the Chapman girls--but saw them. Also did not get to meet any of the Delta Sigma girls-- but the lais (how do you spell that?) were beautiful!!!

Friday night everyone did opening ritual--and then I had to head to the finance meetings. Saturday-I spent all day in finance meetings-- with the exception of lunch and dinner. My Saturday meetings were over at 9:30'ish pm. And Sunday meetings started at 845am. I really feel like I was in finance meetings the entire time!!! :) But looking at the schedule--everyone was having roundtables, tshirt exchanges, songfest--sounded like lots of fun!!!

In between meetings, I was meeting other sisters. Everyone I met was wonderful--I am really looking forward to convention!!!! We even started making convention travel plans--I am excited!!!

Also--interesting tid bit--although unrelated to TLC--- the was a fundraising event for the Steve Palmero Foundation in the Marriott with us Saturday night. Black tie event-- tons of "beautiful people"-- but it was Late Night with Bob Costas. Tons of sports celebrities there. I was coming down with a cold on Saturday--so by 1145pm I was falling asleep in the lobby bar--and headed to my room. About 15 minutes after I went upstairs the group of woman I was sitting with noticed Bob Costas and Michael ??? (from The Practice) at the table next to ours. So they all got to meet those guys and got autographs on their nametags.

Anyway--EVERYONE I met was super sweet. I did have lots of fun--meeting and getting to know so many other Alpha Gams from all over the place.

DeltaBetaAGD 02-11-2003 11:56 PM

It sounds like TLC was a hit from all those I have heard from!

Thank you bunches to all the VST members that make the weekend happen. :) I know a few of you are on these boards...

Looking forward to seeing those who will be in Kentucky for TLC!:D

hawaiiagd 02-14-2003 10:01 PM

There's no place like home....

Aloha GreekChat Sisters! I'm finally home!!!!!

Well... actually... I'm finally home again...

Delta Sigma had a great time at TLC, tired as we were. Lots of information... lots of ideas... lots of new friends... and lots of problem sharing (It's such a relief to know that other chapters have the same little dramas we have.) It was so nice to finally put faces to all the names on our reports.... as well as to those we email on a regular basis. It was even nicer to see some old faces I hadn't seen since the Tarpon Springs Convention... 6 years ago? The bonus was finally getting to meet Susan!!!!! I'll have to post the pic I took with her once I get them developed (I can't believe I left my digital camera at home.) We boarded the plane fired up and ready to bring all we learned back to the rest of our chapter!

Since the whole flight thing didn't jive to get us back to Hawaii on Sunday, we didn't leave until Monday morning. We spent Sunday shopping, ice skating (the collegians..not me), and then relaxing in St. Joseph, Missouri at the family home of one of our dear Delta Sigma collegians. As strange as it seemed to be in her house while she was all the way in Hawaii, we had the best time. Alpha Gam parents rock! Her mom, dad, and brothers welcomed us with open arms... just like family.

We got home Monday night... and as if 10 hours of flying wasn't enough for me.... I hopped back on a plane with Rob to Arizona the next day, so that we could spend a little time together and visit his brother in Tucson. Got home last night... have realized that I managed to fly 32 hours within the last week... I'm exhausted.

Hope you all enjoy your Area TLCs as much as we did!

canadajen 02-15-2003 06:53 AM

a QUESTION for anyone who went to KC??

Wow! Lots of travelling in the past few weeks for people!! For everyone who was lucky enough to go to KC last weekend (I hope everyone had a fantabulous time)... did y'all meet anyone from Delta Zeta (UBC) ??

? Surina (president);
? Sarah (VPR);
? Laura (VP Ops or Finance ~ not sure!);
? Alison (Chapter Advisor)

Just curious .. heard a few interesting tales when I dropped by their chapter meeting a few days ago! ;)

Let me know!

liEP,
Jen

DWAlphaGam 02-24-2003 12:02 PM

TLC in Philadelphia was awesome! I learned so much and met some really great sisters. Unfortunate dramas from the chapter put a little bit of a damper on the weekend (one of our new members terminated her pledge), but overall, it was a great experience and it made me super excited for Convention next year...I'll have to start saving my $3/day so I can go!

alphagambaby 02-24-2003 03:38 PM

I went to TLC in Louisville this weekend. It was a great experience, and now I, as well as all the rest of you, can't wait for Convention! All the finance meetings were a little tiring, but I met so many wonderful women. Hopefully I'll see you all in Chicago!

Loyally,
Abby

DeltaBetaAGD 02-24-2003 11:27 PM

So fun!

I met some great women at TLC this past weekend in Kentucky!

I hope that the collegiates really learned a lot and feel comfortable in their positions within their chapter. :D

AGDLynn 03-02-2003 06:07 PM

Can you tell I just got back!

Catching up on all the posting I missed.

Alpharetta (north Atlanta) was awesome! They used a motivational video about the Seattle Fish Market (how everyone loved their job and wanted to provide terrific customer service, etc) so the "theme" was FISH. I would recommend it to any org, company, etc.

Maria, I met Wendy B. who was co-leading the Rec. seminars. We chatted about Chapman and she actually admitted to knowing you. ;) :D :D

Kept hearing wonderful things about UAB, North Ga and Brenau. The Brenau colle. and advisors are sooo cool! Pardon me, I keep seeing the same alums the past few years and I still don't know their names, lol!! I love that AGD Rap song they do!

I met one advisor from the Miami Chapter, pardon me for not remembering her name or title. But we talked about GC and she said that one of her collegians already had told her about it and hope to see her here soon!!

Came home and instantly took a 2 hour nap, lol. :D

I agree, FISH was great! Do you know if there is any way we can get copies for the chapters?

Tee hee, hopefully she said only nice things about me! ;) Seriously though, Wendy is an wonderful lady. I'm glad you got to meet her, and I'm glad you had such a great time!

AGDLynn 03-03-2003 11:00 PM

FISH video

I suggest sending an email to IHQ and asking. It didn't look like a video strictly for AGDs..more of a pre-made promotional video that probably cost AGD to buy..or maybe rented, lol.

hawaiiagd 03-10-2003 12:26 AM

The company I work for shows FISH! regularly as a motivational tool. I love the tape... have seen it three times... and love even more that Alpha Gamma Delta applied its message to our organization.

I've tried to find a way to buy one because my husband's company is in desperate need of some "uplifting" and because I'd like our whole chapter to see it. The place I found online had it priced around $700-$800 though. Yikes!

I'm asking a couple of our collegians to check for a school resource... perhaps it's something we could borrow from the school library or a business instructor.

hawaiiagd 03-10-2003 12:29 AM

By the way... there is apparently a 2nd video to Fish!... Haven't seen it yet, but my chief at work mentioned she was going to show it to us next time we meet.
