tongue rings

Aren't tongue rings supposed to be for girls, have you seen those loser guys that have started to get them. They think they are trendsetter but I think they are just stupid wierdos. What do you think?

RockChalk 12-05-2002 10:54 PM

I like 'em.

suzymoonspider 12-05-2002 10:54 PM

I think all tongue rings are yucky personally~ but I have known more guys with them then girls- it doesn't matter your gender- if you want it get it done-

PullYoeppsPin 12-05-2002 10:59 PM

I agree

My boyfriend has one and I love it. I don't think its wierd. I know more guys than girls with them...of course most of my guy friends are in bands sooo.....they' re a little bit more punk than your average crowd. I totally dig kissing him!

Ya know, dont stereotype others like that. I have a tongue ring and I never once thought of wanting to do that kinda thing. Dont generalize a large group of people with tongue rings just b/c a certain few of them get them for that reasons. My reason for getting it was FOR SURE not for THAT reason.

I kissed a guy with a tongue ring once and it was so gross... but when I think about it, I think he was just a bad kisser. The piercing had no bearing on it!

I think they are cute if they are little and the person doesn't play with it all the time.

queequek 12-05-2002 11:47 PM

Move to Chit Chat section. Nothing to do with Greek Life!

I've had my t-ring for about 5 years now [not the same one, of course!] and I agree with APhiRattlerGal...just because you have one doesn't mean I'll suck anything.

I see no difference between men and women having t-rings! I don't feel better than a guy who has one.

QT Pie 12-06-2002 12:50 AM

I don't have problems with tongue rings, but I'll never get one. It just seems like too much trouble. My guy friend got one, and he had to take antibiotics for awhile just to prevent infection. I also heard if you take if off, it's hard to put it back on.

arrowgirl 12-06-2002 12:52 AM

Okay, two things:

1. In response to the thread starter, I have always thought guys with tongue rings were hot, way before I got mine. And I still do. :p

2. RE this:

This is for anyone, including APhiRattler, who is living under a rock. That is from Chris Rock's "No Sex In The Champagne Room". Absolutely hilarious 'song'. It is a quote, and had you ever heard it, you would know not to be offended by it.

Actually, the tongue piercing is the LEAST likely to get infected out of any piercing you could get. It doesn't hurt at all, and I don't know why your guy friend took antibiotics for it... I didn't and have never heard of that. I have some friends who have tongue rings, and they didn't do anything besides gargle with mouthwash (as did I). I think the easiness of removing and replacing the barbell is about as easy as it is to do any ring in a piercing. At first it is sort of hard to get used to, but now I switch mine to match with different outfits. Silly, I know. :p But I think it was harder to get used to changing my nose ring. It took me an hour to get it out the first time, because of the curves... But now I have no problem with it. :)

WTG Ili!!! I've had my tongue pierced TWICE for a combined time of about 2 1/2 years. That was definitely not the reason why I had it pierced, and I definitely never did that when it was pierced, or even now!

Note to arrowgirl, had she perhaps "quoted" that, it may have made a difference.

sororitygirl2 12-06-2002 01:34 AM

Okay, agree that this one should be in ChitChat, but just a comment...

You all say you would never think of doing those things with your tongue rings as if it were murder and as if it is SO weird for someone to insinuate it! Well, a llot of people do actually get tongue rings for those sorts of purposes...

I definitely agree with you. I'm not here to argue or "defend" anything. I just simply stated that unlike the stereo-typical idea of person with a tongue ring, I did/do not partake in those sorts of things, although I had my tongue ring pierced.

PM_Mama00 12-06-2002 03:05 AM

Dude, I wanted my tongue pierced for so many years! I finally got it done, my mom saw it not 24 hours after, and she made me take it out! But for the few hours I had it, I absolutely loved it....

I think guys with tongue rings are awesome. If they're a good kisser, it makes them a better one!

PiKapp Raider 12-06-2002 04:28 AM

I want a tounge ring! The only thing is that I've heard they are one of the most painful piercings you can get. I've never brought myself to do it, and I know my parents would freak! I though my mom was going to take a cheese grater to my skin when I told her I got a tattoo.

SATX*APhi 12-06-2002 04:55 AM

PiKapp Raider

YOU CAN'T EVEN FEEL IT!! It does not hurt a bit!!! You have no nerves in the inner part of your tongue, so you only feel when the needle passes through the first of the layer of your tongue, which lasts, oh, about a hundredth of a second. Honestly though, you don't even feel it! I remember thinking, "It's pierced?! I didn't even feel it!!"

crystalline 12-06-2002 08:21 AM

I insisted on my boyfriend having one. I even paid for him to have it done. I just think they are cool. And it's fun when we kiss, b/c sometimes we click.

ROWDYsister 12-06-2002 10:16 AM

My new boyfriend-type person has a tongue ring. It's good times.

Imthechamp 12-06-2002 12:26 PM

The first thing that comes to mind when I see someone's tongue ring is that they prolly give good head.

Grats to all you girls with tongue rings!

KillarneyRose 12-06-2002 02:30 PM

Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with piercing whatever it is you want pierced. I'm curious, however, about what makes women get their, um, nether region pierced. Is it because they like how it looks? How it feels? One would think that would hurt a bit, no?

The same is also true for some guys with their tongue pierced.

Thats funny because most of the people I know that have tongue rings are guys. And I think it is hot. (As long as they dont play with it.) In fact the guy I lost my virginity to had a tongue ring.....hmm....wierd

UofIL AXO 12-06-2002 02:51 PM

I think tongue rings enhance the making out experience but don't have the pain tolerance to get one.

Do you have your ears pierced? Because I found that getting my tongue pierced actually hurt less that my ears.

MoxieGrrl 12-06-2002 04:26 PM

Tonuge rings are too trendy for me.

Killarney: I want to know too! I have heard some things about it.....and that much excitement in my life might send me over the deep end. LOL

Imthechamp 12-06-2002 05:50 PM

Serious though...if I ever had a daughter and she came home with a tongue ring, I would prolly ground her ass for life.

I don't understand why people think it's so cool to give others the impression that they like giving head.

Yall keep saying, "I didn't get it for that reason", but anybody with a clue knows you put oral sex + tongue rings go together.

Yeah, it's a generalization, but who gives a fuck? It's everywhere in this world and you got to be pretty stupid if you don't realize that.

ZTAMich 12-06-2002 05:51 PM

I had one...took it out for teaching last semester and never had the patience to take it out and back in again everyday. It didn't hurt as much as my ears or belly button did for sure. And I got very lucky bc it never swelled up a lot. On guys...eh I dunno...I def. think it is more of a girl thing. I think Christina Agulara (can't spell that darn last name!) said in Rolling Stone she wouldn't get her tounge pierced bc it was too 'sorority girl' for her LOL so apparently there's a stereotype to girls having it too...
our chapter's province pres. did not think it was the most respectable thing for a pres. to have soo...

Munchkin03 12-06-2002 07:00 PM

I never got it done because I think it's too "trendy". It does seem very stereotypical "sorority girl", as bad as that sounds.

In about 60 years, nursing homes are going to be very funny places...sagging tattoos, all sorts of former piercings, etc.

I remember the first three or four weeks of freshman year, when all the little girls got their tongues pierced as soon as they could. I feel like once the novelty of the piercing (and the attention that came with it) wore off, then they were gone.

I got mine pierced waaay back when I still thought that sororities were mind controlling cults. Needless to say that was a few years ago!

Lady Pi Phi 12-06-2002 08:44 PM

I got my tongue pierced in my second year at university. Way before I joined Pi Phi. It was something that I wanted all through highschool, but I didn't have the money or the guts. I didn't get it done for some guy (all though I have had no complaints) It was something that I wanted and something I did for me. If and when I decide to take out my tongue piercing I can gurantee that there will be no visible trace of a piercing there. The tongue heals itself very quickly. And as for my tattoos I do not regret getting them because I did it for meyself and my tattoos are of symbols that are very meaningful to me. I think it's important to think carefully before getting it done, but it you do it for yourself then who care what other people think. Don't judge us because we have done something you don't "like" or "approve" of. Some of us may regret doing it. Others may not. I don't. It's a personal preference. There is no right or wrong.

Has anyone ever bitten their tongue? I don't know about yall, but that mess HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. I'm not piercing anything beyond my ears (I got 2 on one side and 4 on the other, I messed up the other two on the 2 side, if that made sense). When I was at my old school, it was THE thing to do. EVERYBODY went to get their tongue pierced. And they ALL had pain. One guy swole up like a blowfish (they laughed at him though because he cried like a baby after talking all hard about getting it done LOL.) AND they all tooted a tongue rings sexual enhancement (but I know all tongue ringers don't do that). But what about "other" piercing. Do you guys do any of that (nipple or below the belt [EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!]
