Something I just thought of... would a reccomendation be needed for DG? I know with recriutment at Auburn, they are required...
|
A DG would know better, but.... I think they call them sponsorship forms, and having several could NEVER hurt! I think DG requires that all women going to pref/recieving bids have a sponsorship form, but I would believe if you didn't have one, and they really wanted you, they would get one for you.
I'm not sure if this is the same with a new colony though. Hopefully a DG can let you in on all the info :) |

As far as DG requirements go, you yourself do not need to worry about a sponsor form. We have a delegated sister who finds sponsors for each girl that goes through rush for us. Now, a recommendation is something you would approach other Delta Gammas and ask them to write for you. Recommendations are not required, especially at my small school, but they always help.
I hope that clears that up a little bit. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. :) Colleen Erin Eta Eta |
Ah, I have so many questions! So, a rec is not needed, but is a good idea, right? During interviews, what type of questions will they ask me? And most importantly, ;) what would I wear??
Laura |
Sorry this is going to be quick becasue I am on my way to a final...
As far as dress goes, very classy, nice looking is what I would recommend since there is only the one day for the interview. I am part of the first official pledge class of my chapter, so I am not sure what questions they will ask during interviews. They will be most interested in getting to know who you are and what you stand for. We do have a set of standards that we all focus on like scholarship, activites, and such that they will look for in you. Don't worry too much about it. Just go into it, if you decide to, with an open mind and just be yourself. oh, yeah, a rec would be nice if you can get your hands on one :) Hope this helps a bit more :) Colleen Erin Eta Eta |
I am soo excited!! I have been hearing about this since the begining of the school year and I can't wait to see the wonderful things that are going to happen with the addition of Delta Gamma to Auburn's campus.

I PMed you. :)

It will most likely be publicized. My chapter went through what is called a Fraternity COB which is where Nationals helps us out with interviewing new members for our chapter. We did SOOO much PR it wasn't even funny. I'm sure you will hear more about it starting next semester (or quarter) since it doesn't start till then. DG's are big on PR so keep an eye out for it.
A little advice.....go into your interview with confidence and you will do just fine! Dress comfortably yet nicely. First impressions are key! I'm glad to hear that you are considering our sisterhood....it's a great one to be a part of!! If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me whenever you want! Yay! I'm so glad DG will be coming to Auburn!
|
Well - since we just finished up with the EXACT process you are getting ready to go through, I'll give you the down and dirty quick version.
They will not start advertising until the week before they come and then it'll be massive. Flyers, other sororites wearing "decide DG" buttons, and information booths will all appear. I was a little suprised that I didn't see them earlier, but they really do come all at once with a big presence. The information meeting will be really neat, you'll see pictures, and hear all about what DG is and what we stand for. You will meet Tracy Williams, who is in charge of expansion and she will bring a team along with her. After the information session you will sign up for your interview. They are 20 minutes interviews that are painless! Wear what you would to a job interview - I wore a business suit. They asked me questions about myself, my family, my major, they asked if I had any friends going through this all with me, they asked why I was going through it, and what I could do to help the chapter. The next day you go to see if you are invited to the preference party. Pref was amazing. The ladies from the Duke chapter came and did our pref just as they would do their own. I cried it was so awesome. Then you decide whether or not you want to sign the bid card. And the next day you go see if you got a bid! That afternoon is the new member ceremony and all sorts of bid day activities!! It's so much fun!! This is an expierence very few girls ever get to have!! You are so lucky - as was I!! I'll try to find my "Rush" thread for you to look at. Let me know if you have any more questions... CJ :) |
I am definately considering this! It seems like an amazing opportunity! I had been considering alumna initiation once I graduated from school because I didn't think I had a chance to join a sorority anymore, and now this came up! And I wanted to thank everyone, especially the Delta Gammas for answering all my questions. If ya'll are any representation of DG as a whole, DG must be an amazing group of women!!:D

There is the link to the rush thread that traced my journey into the DG sisterhood!! It'll probably help you a lot since it's so recent. |

Laura.....
If you would also like to check out more about DG in general, feel free to check out our National Website at www.deltagamma.org it gives you a lot of information about our organization. It also provides links to chapter websites if you would like to check some of those out just to see what the DGs around the country are up to! Best of luck! Andrea VP Membership - Eta Chapter |
I decided to browse through the Delta Gamma national webpage and I must say that it is one of the most comprehensive I have ever seen. It is so informative about your history and the process of becoming and being a DG. I am really impressed! Congrats to the tech-savvy DGs!
And good luck Laura in pursuing the DG recolonization! What an exciting time for you and Auburn! We had so much fun listening to WhiteDaisy's experiences and now we have another PNM looking at colonization! |

:D In today's Plainsman , our student newspaper, Delta Gamma had a full page that said:
Delta Gamma thanks the AU Greek Community for inviting us to join Panhellenic in Spring 2003. Good Luck on Exams. Go Tigers! EEK! This makes me even more excited! GO DG!! Greek love and mine, Laura |
Laura.....
You are SOOOO enthusiastic....I LOVE IT!!! |

Laura,
I would definitely get in touch with Tracey Williams regarding this, if you want to make sure that they know of your interest! Good luck with it! YAY! DG! :D http://www.deltagamma.org/auburn.html For more information contact Tracey Williams at tracey@deltagamma.org Also: Sponsor Form (pdf) Sponsor Form (word) I would say that the alumna who is sponsoring you would mail it in to Tracey. If time is short, then maybe they can put it in a sealed envelope and hand it back to you to take along to the DG events to give to the Expansion Team. |

"Yes, we will be. The events are planned for Wednesday, February 5 through 8. Locations are yet to be determined, but we will be sure to get publicity out before then. Please visit our website to learn more about Delta Gamma, and feel free to contact me with any questions. www.deltagamma.org I look forward to coming to Auburn and meeting you and other students interested in Greek Life! Tracey Doebling Williams, BS-Maryland" I'm not at all eager, am I? ;) GO DELTA GAMMA! :D |
Don't worry! I too e-mailed Tracy because I was so excited! It's amazing the diversity you get to see when you (re)colonize a chapter!! We have so many beautiful Dee Gee's! Make sure you check out DG's national site as well as other chapter sites (Eta Kappa Chapter - hey, I had to plug my own chapter!! Though, err...another story...the site will be completely changing during the holiday season since the CMT isn't very happy with it as it currently looks)...but so many sites give you so much information!! DG does so many great things! I'm thrilled that you are so excited!! Tell all of your friends! Get DG's word out around your campus.
|
I'm planning on getting recs. I'm going to ask women I know if they are DGs, and if so, would they mind writing a rec for me. But if I cannot find anyone I know that is a DG, how would I go about getting a rec?
|
Rec's can come from alumni DG's or active's. Also, on the sponsor form it has a question that asks how long the sponsor has known the PNM, there is a place that says that they don't know the PMN, but obtained the information elsewhere. You could contact the closest chapter of DG and talk to one of their members and see if they could sponsor you, or you could ask one of us on here ;) But remember, since you are recolonizing you don't have to have a sponsor form. I think out of my pledge class of 80 or so, only 9 of us had sponsors and 5 of those nine were legacies. So it's not something to lose sleep over...I'm sure they'll love you anyway! :D
