I'm not sure if any other GLOs other than the Kappas & Chi-O's are into owls, but I just returned from Lord & Taylor, and they have the cutest owl Christmas ornaments! I can't imagine not getting one for the Kappa or Chi-O that you love! I forget the name of the company, but it's fairly upscale without being ridiculous ($16) - blown glass, plump and adorable!

Midwest Cannon Falls has an adorable squirrel ornament but unfortunately, they are hard to find, lol. They are the same company that does the s'mores/marshmallow figurines.

LOL - try finding a lion ornament or card that DOESN'T have a lamb with it! :)

As for your squirrels, I have dozens of real ones in my yard & neighbordhood - one that will come to the deck for nuts!

oh yeah... adpis, saes.... they have the cutest lion stuffed animals at walmart and target!!! i never thought of looking there, and hey-theyre cheap!

at macys they have the cutest lion that comes w/chocolate and sings a-we-mo-wet (sp). theyre $25 bucks, but their little tail moves w/the music.... so worth it!

I saw that in the catalog! We always give the Alphas a lion during Diamond Days, and I would just LOVE to have enough $$ to give each of them one of those lions!

I understand the difficult mascot/symbol thing...

Try finding palm trees in the middle of December... without all of the Hula girls and whatnot attached to it.

Turtles are kinda easy to find, but sometimes they are just plain UGLY!!!! Like if they resemble a sea-turtle or something! However, my favorite kind of turtle is made by Precious Moments.

SAI doesn't have a mascot. Our well-known symbol is the red rose, which is surprisingly hard to find things for! When you look for fabric with red roses all you can find are PINK roses. Same with stationary, decorations, etc. Makes me so mad!! :mad:

THanks to Harry Potter there is really awesome owl parephenelia. I go this really awesome fabric, and this really cute white owl.. with yellow and red on it ... it's like chi o heaven.

Try finding a lyre. It doesn't get much harder than that.

Has anyone ever seen Katydid stuff? That's one of our mascots but I never see it anywhere! Too hard to find!

I have one, but it's with an angel. When I was a little girl, I would get terribly upset that we could never find a red-haired angel (which caused my dad to tease me that "Redheads who lose their tempers don't become angels!"). When I finally found one, she's holding a lyre.

Hey AXO Alum (and other AXOs)....

Have you looked in music-themed catalogs, like The Music Stand or Music Treasures? I have seen lyres in those catalogs. (I am a music major and musician of 11 years, so I know where to find these things ;) ) I know that The Music Stand at least used to have pretty lyre engravable Christmas ornaments. And Music Treasures used to have lyre vases. Look up those catalogs! :)

Oh, and besides our red rose, our other symbol is the pan pipes. Yeah, trust me, it REALLY doesn't get harder than that. :D

has any one come across any UNICORNS?? they seem to be in short supply :(
PS: TY (the makers of beenie babies) makes the CUTEST giraffe...i LOVE them!!

There are several mailorder places that have unicorns such as "What On Earth" from Ohio and Natures Jewelry out of Mass.

now i feel really lucky to just have a dove and heart. my chapter doesn't do the snake though. good thing. for any theta phi's out there, i just found the cutest penguins ever. someone i know paints ceramic stuff and she sold me four for $5. guess what my best friend who's a theta phi is getting for christmas.

by the way, whats cracker barrell?

Cracker Barrel is a chain of family restaurants, similar to Po Folks or The Black Eyed Pea. They have a gift shop in the front of every restaurant, mostly things with a "country" theme.

Are Cracker Barrels only native here in FL? A couple of my freinds visited and had never heard of it before! I *HEART* Cracker Barrel! :D

I guess growing up in the south I always thought EVERYONE knew what Cracker Barrell is!!!! If you've never eaten there, you need to take a road trip and find one!! Wow...never eaten at a CB....so sad.
