j lo and ben- engaged!

she admitted it in an interview, matt damon also said they were.. i'm SO JEALOUS! too bad, girls, another hottie off the market.. from my area, too... grr ;)

Imthechamp 11-11-2002 11:11 PM

They will be divorced in 3 months.

damasa 11-11-2002 11:13 PM

blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah, what marriage is this for her, or should I say relationship in how many years? It will be over in eight months, she will leave Ben for his agent. They will last just over six months and she will go back to someone famous, I predict Billy Bob Thorton.

Hootie 11-11-2002 11:53 PM

As much as I love J-Lo as an artist, I really think she needed to be alone some time after her split with hubby #2! I mean she was on the View one day talking about marital bliss and the next day it's splitsville and onto bigger fish.

I had also heard a rumor that she's pregnant....is that true?

Not for long. He'll be back on the market in a few months; I guarantee it! ;)

ThetaLove 11-12-2002 01:03 AM

I feel your pain. I mean if he weren't with Jennifer, I just know he'd be with me. :D

Just kidding!

PsychTau 11-12-2002 01:10 AM

I'm sorry. . .Ben always appeared MUCH smarter than this. . .

JLo married Cris Judd on my wedding day last year. They lasted 8 months, then splitsville. Now, that was only about 5 months ago. She hooked up with Puff Daddy briefly (I think) and now all of a sudden (after MAYBE 3 months with Ben) she's ready for marriage?????? Ya know, if this little drama was being played out in the real world (i.e. not Hollywood), everyone would be smackin that boy upside the head!!!

I'm just really disappointed that Ben is being sucked in like that. BAD BAD idea!!!!

Peaches-n-Cream 11-12-2002 02:15 AM

I think that this marriage might last. Third time's the charm.

Yeah right! :p ;)

DRau 11-12-2002 03:04 AM

It's sad to think that this is his first marriage, and her third! I've never been a huge J-Lo fan so this just makes me roll my eyes. There is no way this can last.... compare their ex's... Puff Daddy and Gwyneth?

FAB*SpiceySpice 11-12-2002 03:29 AM

:( :( :( :( :(

So sad, I love Ben....he's such a hottttttttttie!

But I like J.Lo....though she's kind of stuck on herself it seems....

Who knows? Maybe this marriage could last....stranger things have happened! I'm not betting on that though. ;)

chopper816 11-12-2002 03:40 AM

this really doesnt bother me too much, if they want to be together, more power to them! :p

SATX*APhi 11-12-2002 05:15 AM

Has anyone thought of JLo's marriages/divorces being some sort of publicity stunt? Perhaps she is paying these guys for their time. :p

Imthechamp 11-12-2002 06:21 AM

Maybe she's the perfect woman?

Rich, good looking and a nice booty

:)

Maybe but they can't get married until February 2003 when her divorce is final, lol. How romantic is that? Planning a wedding around a divorce...

LeslieAGD 11-12-2002 07:57 AM

No Kidding AOX...Generally you dissolve one marriage before you jump into another one!

C'mon Ben, you can do sooooo much better sweetie! :(

RedRoseSAI 11-12-2002 10:45 AM

I have a tip for Jennifer - TRY DATING!!!

BearyCuteAPhi 11-12-2002 11:08 AM

J Lo sings about love but doesn't know what it is....what she needs to do is go solo for a while and find out what she really wants....she needs to quit thinking about getting some and chill...

APhiRattlerGal 11-15-2002 02:36 AM

AMEN Ronnie!!!

AlphaSigLana 11-15-2002 10:40 AM

I have lost all respect for J-Lo. I think that she has no respect for marraige vows. I see her on all the talk shows always saying how in love she is and then she breaks it off with the guy. The wedding with Ben will just be another chance for her to throw a couple million on a wedding dress etc.
I really think her newest song stinks"Jenny from the block."

Kevin 11-15-2002 10:42 AM

I always wonder if these folks just do the marriage thing for the publicity? Or do they actually have feelings for eachother? I was always very skeptical about such media-covered relationships as Michael Jackson and Purcilla Presley, Justin Timberlake & Brittney Spears, etc...

It's all a show just to get free face time on the news.

xo_kathy 11-15-2002 11:00 AM

My boyfriend grew up in the same section of the Bronx as Jennifer, although not at the same time so they never knew one another. He had a great idea - Why don't they turn in that HUGE pink $3.5 million diamond, get something a little less extravagant, maybe only $1 million (GASP!), and use some of that money to help fund some low-income housing or an after school program in the South Bronx! If "Jenny from the block" truly still remembers where she came from, maybe she should help them out in a way she didn't have!!! Just a thought...

DeltAlum 11-15-2002 12:17 PM

Yawn.

That pink diamond was GORGEOUS and definetly enormous. But I agree that it's really going to waste. There's a good chance that they'll be divorced and onto new boyfriends/girlfriends shortly. Just one thought, if the engagement ring is $3.5 million and one of the rarest diamonds in the world, what is the wedding band going to look like?

kara 11-15-2002 04:36 PM

That ring was gorgeous. My eyes near fell out. The way I look at it...JLo is human and if the poor girl made a mistake - then so be it. If she was a man, would it be such a big deal?

I still have a lot of respect for her. I saw the VH1 Driven special on her and she's overcome a lot of adversity. Literally rags to riches kind of gal. I can see why her and Ben are so in love. They have that in common.

I'll still support her as an artist. Actually, I'm really looking forward to seeing her next movie, Maid In Manhattan.

I think it would. If it were a man, everyone would be saying he has no regard for committment and that he's a player and a jerk. (example: look at the backlash against Tom Cruise when he left Nicole for Penelope Cruz...and that was only one divorce!).

cash78mere 11-15-2002 06:21 PM

the biggest problem i have is not that she is getting married for the 3rd time, but how FAST she does it. it's ridiculous.

Actually, it was Tom's second marriage. He was married to Mimi Rogers for a few years in the 1980s.. so this is his second divorce, Nicole's first (I think).

good call...I forgot about that! ;)

DELTAQTE 11-17-2002 05:18 AM

ok

On the real I don't think it will last long. If they have kids it might last about 3 years. But I doubt it.

J.Lo looked so FAKE to me when she was doing her fake laugh with Diane Sawyer. If you really think about it, what has been her longest relationship since she has been famous?

Puffy! The guy she never married! 2 years and some months.

Now I really do think the reason for this is that Puffy and J.Lo together always made them the talk of the town and J.Lo craves that. And not to hurt any of the Ben fans out there, but Ben isn't a MAJOR actor. He's big but not a Tom Cruise big. I really do think that if Tom Cruise or Denzel Washington came into her life she would dump Ben as faster than you can say "I'm real".

Yeah, but don't you think she likes to be the "big shot" in the relationship? Her first husband was a bartender, her second was one of her dancers, and now Ben - a big name but not a "major" actor. I think she only stayed with Puffy because she got so much attention.

Steeltrap 11-17-2002 01:23 PM

I think those who believe that J. Lo is addicted to publicity are right. I hope that someone like Denzel W. would NEVER come into her life. Denzel is much too intelligent and settled for the likes of Jennifer Lopez. Not to mention that he's been married to Pauletta Pearson forever and they have four kids. I like seeing stable families.

kdonline 11-18-2002 01:44 PM

She only stayed with Puffy to get her music career going.

I remember when they first got together, the girls in the nail salon were all saying, "Oh, she's only with Puffy to get a record deal! She can't sing!"

I guess they were right.

I don't understand what all the hoopla is - I guess because she's been through 4 relationships in 4 years or so? I mean, she's not a great actress (PLEASE dont compare her to Liz Taylor), she's not a good singer (neither is Madonna, but Madonna is in a class of her own!)...and, she can dance, but so what?

Our local news here in Miami was bcasting in front of JLo's house, the night of the Diane Sawyer interview. It was funny - the house was all dark, the reporter said, "Obviously there's no one home" - it was pretty funny...why bother to do a remote out there when you can't even see the house!?

Good point! She DID say in the interview that she knew in her past two marriages that she was always in control and that she knew this one was real cause she wasn't in control, she was scared and whatnot.

dang Steeptrap are you president of the Denzel fan club?:D

Naw I just used him as an example because only a few are up there with Denzel and Tom Cruise.

And don't be too sure on Denzel! his wife has almost left him a few times for letting that eye look a little too hard(as she should have)

I totally agree DeltaQTE. She did seem REALLY fake on the interview. It seemed as if she was trying to convince Diane Sawyer that she was really in love this time. She just seems like a very oportunistic person to me. Did you notice that she always has a new CD or movie come out around the time of her relationship "drama". It's sad that there are people out there who will continuosly use people to get to wherever they want to be. I wonder what Ben's Parents really think of all of this. I am sure the thought that she has been around the block a few times has crossed their minds.

ChiOJenn78 11-20-2002 10:27 AM

I didn't see the interview, but I did hear about the ring. What bothers me is that she obviously has no clue what a marriage is about-it's not about the ring, the publicity, the parties, etc...it's about work, comprimise, and spending your life with the person you just can't live without. It's not always good times, but also bad times, and even reeeeally bad times. And she just doesn't seem to get it. And the fact that she just jumps from marriage to marriage....whomever said she needs to have some alone time was right!

But I'll get down off my wedding soap-box now. :D

RedRoseSAI 11-20-2002 12:52 PM

This is interesting...

Is J.Lo and Ben's love for real?: Is Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's fairytale romance a sham cooked up by Hollywood executives to boost their careers?

I think this is definitely a possibility, although she'd be pretty stupid to set herself up like this. What do you think?

I'm not president of the Denzel fan club, DELTAQTE, but I do like his acting and the image he's presented so far. You could also fill in Will Smith, Tom Hanks and a few others up there with DW and lil' Tom Cruise.
If he does have a roving eye, hopefully Pauletta will put blinders around it.:p
