China patterns
I was bored today so I started playing with my china...I know, dorky. I set up a placesetting and looked at the salt and pepper shakers and stuff like I was a little girl at a teaparty...
So now I am browsing various china patterns online and I have decided that my two favorite so far are: Noritake Ardmore Platinum (the one I have) and Wedgwood Celestial Platinum. How about you? |
My pattern is Noritake Crestwood Platinum.
|
Formal, Lenox Kelly (that's my niece's name so easy to remember, lol)
Everyday - Mikasa Garden Harvest (Trading Spaces did an episode where they built a dish rack for the same pattern!) |
Formal--Noritake Weyburne (each piece has a carnation on it!)
|
Crestwood Platinum by Noritake.
I am almost 99% certain that's the one I registered for when I was engaged. My ex didn't really care what I chose and since I wanted something timeless I thought I'd go with the platinum instead of a color! Oh well...maybe next time! |
My mom has Autumn by Lennox for her formal and Lotus by Wedgwood for her everyday china.

Stoneleigh
A tastefully understated embossed outer band, on Noritake’s pure white porcelain china accented by a platinum outer rim. |
I have Noritake's Rochelle Gold:
http://slimages.macys.com/products/6...=10.0&cvt=jpeg Nice and simple, and all sorts of accent plates go with it! I also love my mother's Royal Daulton Carlisle: http://www.prouds.nf/images/royal_do...re/carlyle.jpg |
My mom is giving me her china, which is white with a gold band around the edge and a clump of pink roses to one side. It's gorgeous. Therefore, I am not worried about looking at china at all.
This made me think--I wonder how hard it is to learn how to paint on china? Because I would love to somehow design a pattern that integrates my sorority's colors (double blue and gold) and flower (pink rose) and put it on a china setting. |
Mine is Lenox Urban Lights with Lenox Eternal gold stainless and Eternal Gold crystal.
|
I've always wanted Lenox Jefferson, but they had to go and discontinue it! :(
|
You know, I've never given any thought to china. I don't know what my family has, although we have 2 formals and 2 informals (we entertain a lot). I figure it's not going to be something I register for...knowing that we will be living in apartments and being students for the first 3-5 years, we will wait until our place of residence is somewhat settled before buying (or having bought for us) expensive, bulky, china.
|
Wedgewood India-- I loooooove that pattern!

Autumn is NOT something you want to drop. $150 a place setting.
Plus, my mom has lots of the accent pieces to go with it - the vase, the cake plate. She wants to get the candle sticks. Its beautiful, just a pain to hand wash :) The cool thing, is that after my mom got it, one of her sisters got it when she got married, and my grandmother got it too. So when we have big family dinners, we always have enough of the good china :D |
I have china from my grandmother's sister. I'm not sure what the pattern is, but it is beautiful. I personally like Royal Doulton Old Country Roses. It's a classic. :)
|
I have Lenox Classic Edition for my formal, although I really like Royal Doulton's Tennyson. My everyday is Mikasa Arabella.
|
I have my grandmother's china. It's very pretty but obscure -- the pattern is called Courtley and it was made by Meito Norleans (made in "Occupied Japan").
I also like a pattern by Pickard called Crescent -- it's very simple, with just a crescent of platinum on one side. For everyday, I use Fiestaware. I have every color they've made over the past several years -- I think I have at least 15 place settings, if not more. I love it because each plate is a different color. |
My pattern is Limoges Lyric which can be seen here . I think that it is very pretty. :)

Lordie, lordie, have I stumbled onto the wrong thread! :D I may not know much about silver, but I am nuts about my china!
My wedding china is the Hamilton pattern by Lenox. Service for 12. I love it! We fell in love with and purchased a second formal pattern at an antique shop from Noritake, called Graytone. Its a service for 8. My mother gave us a service for 12 in the Lenox Eclipse pattern. Finally, my grandmother gave us a gorgeous service for 8. Its an antique china pattern actually imported from China. It was given to her at her wedding in 1947. It has a country scene with ladies in kimonos and parasols on it...but here's the really cool part: When you hold an (empty) tea cup to the light, the bone is so fine that you will see the face of a lady carved into the bottom of the cup! Although its not to my personal taste, I love it! The craftsmanship is amazing, and has a lot of sentimental value attached. :) |
