If you were the opposite sex, what fraternity/sorority would you pledge?

For me it would be a toss up between Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma. Both fraternities have great and wonderful members.

Love_Spell_6 11-10-2002 07:59 PM

I would definitely choose Alpha Phi Alpha....I think DST and APHIA
are on the same page as far as accomplishments, goals, and actually implementing their Nationally Mandated Programs!!

PrettyKitty 11-12-2002 04:17 PM

probably Kappa or Sigma but who knows...

shannieglass 11-12-2002 10:47 PM

For me it would be Sigma, or maybe Iota

DarknLovlieZeta 11-12-2002 11:33 PM

I'd be a Sigma man!

I think I would be part of Phi Beta Sigma, because they are seriously MEN ABOUT BUSINESS!!!
Take care.

ZexyZeta6 11-13-2002 10:21 PM

If were the opposite sex, I would choose....

Alpha Phi Alpha or Phi Beta Sigma. I think they are two very well represented organizations!

nikki1920 11-14-2002 12:35 AM

A Sigma or an Iota

Shelacious 11-14-2002 07:29 PM

Here in the Bay Area...

and based upon what I know of my own personality, I would probably join either Alpha Phi Alpha or Iota Phi Theta.

If joining because of founding principles alone, I give it up for Phi Beta.

But as I said before and I'll say it again: I would have been the bomb no matter which organization I joined! :D

FanCy 11-15-2002 08:07 AM

Wow, that is a tough question!! I would say Kappa or Sigma

OOhsoflyDELTA#9 11-16-2002 01:05 AM

NUPE of course.....

I would definitely be a Kappa.....you just gotta love those colors!!! ;)

Pink Panther40 11-17-2002 11:43 PM

There's no doubt that I would be an ice cold brother of Alpha Phi Alpha. I've found that no one can go wrong when they choose A L P H A ! :p

No fighting on my post. Shake hands and hug now.

kizzie22 11-23-2002 08:07 PM

For me it would be Iota Phi Theta or Omega Psi Phi

Congratulation, you are the first man to answer this post. Well let me assure that your manhood has not be diminished because you answer this post. In my eyes, your are brave to step out in front. With your true manhood in tact.

OOhsoflyDELTA#9 11-28-2002 11:45 PM

Strive 11-29-2002 09:24 PM

"Handing OOhsoflyDELTA#9 an african violet", We Zetas love you Deltas. We were just tickle at your response. Group hug everyone

OHSYK take your hands off of Pink Panther 40's butt. Thank you very much. :) :) ;)

smurfette1908 11-30-2002 12:12 AM

UMMM...

I think I would be a member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc.

My personality fits well with the Iotas that I know and I have studied their history (what I could  ) and am really impressed with what they are about and what they are doing! While we don't have the men of Brown and Gold on our campus, the surrounding Iotas are holding it down and I just love to support their events!

I have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about...I was joking

jojapeach 12-01-2002 02:56 AM

Such a hard choice....

It would be between Alpha and Iota. I love the demeanor of Alpha men and the organization's history and principles.

But I think I would lean more heavily towards Iota Phi Theta. Iota is definitely different, and I'm one of those people that just likes to be different and unique. (Well, duh, I'm a Sigma in the Southeast. lol) Also, their 39 year history is interesting and compelling, and I love the motto: "Building a tradition, not resting upon one".

OK, why do I feel like I'm writing a "letter of intent"? :p

Come on, Pretty Kitty. I know you heard the phrase "No you didn't go there". The reply would be "Yeah, I went there and I don't know when I'll get back". It is just slang.

Besides, I was referring to your comment on colors. I was joking like you were.

Our telephones lines have been crossed.

Royal Phi-nesse 12-02-2002 11:26 AM

Funny one would ask such a question;)
My husband is an Alpha man- and it isn't the fraternity that makes the man, the man makes the fraternity. With individuals such as my husband representing his organization with honesty and positivity, I'd have to vote A Phi A. He himself makes the frat look good, and I hope that one day someone out there feels the same about me! I want to continue representing the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. so that we will be forever exalted!!! Z-Phi!

whoa.

i think your soror was saying "its funny, [some]one would ask that, i was thinking about that too.... you know like a quinky dink :)

say your friend calls you and is talking about something you were thinking about, and you say "ooh its funny you should say that

you know, more like thinking on the same page

not "FUNNY ONE" as in an insult

abaici 01-05-2003 09:49 PM

Without a doubt, APHIA. They are classy and charming. Rich in history and always taking care of business. Besides they are the first and finest!

Maybe Sigma or Iota (even though the only Iota I ever meet was a jacka$$), I admire their principles a great deal.

I'm sorry, although there are some cool Omegas out there, they scare the HELL out of me in general. In college, I had a friend who was always dragging us to Que parties (she was a shameless aforementioned groupie). I had to put a ban on the Que parties, they are a little too CRUNK for me.

Kappa - First of all, I have no coordination, so I could never work the cane. Also, my body just rejects those colors ;-)

NewBee 01-12-2003 11:13 PM

I am mad at everyone who's decision was based on colors and stereotypes. I know this was only a question that no one could answerl literally, but man, can we have some more thought please? If an interest said I want to be Zeta because of the colors I know yall would be upset, and note I only said used Zeta as an example because this is there forum. This post is not to pick on anyone but just be aware that there are interests who read this responses and think that its cool to based your decision on something so trivial. That being said, out of the D9 orgs I would be an alpha with iota coming in a close second. I love the history of alpha and how it has always attracted prominent leaders of our society. Honestly, if I was a different person, I would probably want to be an apha anyway although I am female. I love the struggle and endurance that is present in the attitude and founding principles of Iota. You gotta love their motto, Building a tradition, Not resting on one. Thats visionary. But honestly, being me, even if I was a man, I dont think I would be greek at all. Where I am at now, they all seem to lack something I seek, but that's getting personal. I digress.

OneOneTwo 01-13-2003 09:00 PM

Well...

There are things about each of the sororities that I like. However, if I were a girl, I would choose Delta Sigma Theta. I have a lot of love and respect for Delta Sigma Theta's Five Point Thrust and having read In Search of Sisterhood, everything seems to fall in place to me. Not to mention that the Deltas that I know in person and on the net are mad cool. I also like the business-like mentality that many of the members young/old have which is very similar to how I am.

I like the sense of sisterhood that is very noticable with the women of Sigma Gamma Rho and Zeta Phi Beta. I admire how Sigma Gamma Rho is the only sorority not founded on the campus of Howard. Zeta Phi Beta's work with both the youth auxillary and older auxillary has been a favorit of mine too (and the family representation doesn't hurt). And I have always respected Alpha Kappa Alpha's commitment to strengthening and empowering the African-American family, which is important to me.

So even though I would choose Delta, much love and respect goes out to all the sororities of the Divine Nine.

If I were the opposite sex I would rush...

I may not be a Zeta but I thought this was cool question.

I am a Phi Sigma Sigma and if I were of the opposite sex the fraternity that I would rush would be Pi Kappa Alpha. These guys have a lot of fun and have the best parties around campus. I know alot of people don't like them because of their reputation which is really bad. Most are border line alcoholics. But they still have fun and they don't let what others say about them.

These are the type of guys that you don't date or become your boyfriends because they are really unfaithful and committment phobic. But as friends they are the best around campus.

FSS

blu_ssence 02-21-2003 01:16 AM

:D First of all, much love goes out to ALL members of the D-Vine 9 organizations. But, I must say, that if I was a male species-LMAO, I would preferably be a member of ALPHA PHI ALPHA for reasons beyond my control. I have love for the fraternity brothers, but the men of A PHI A just have that demeanor that represents BROTHERHOOD. Much love goes out to my FRAT of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity, Inc, for truly "OUR CAUSE SPEEDS NOBELY ON IT'S WAY.....

Sapphire1 02-21-2003 03:25 PM

It probably would be Phi Beta Sigma for me

X-FILEZ-ZPHIB 02-21-2003 09:38 PM

SIGMA OF COURSE. IF I WAS A GUY THEN I WOULD BELEIVE IN THE SAME THINGS I BELEIVE IN NOW SO...

lil_sunshine 02-22-2003 03:44 PM

My turn, my turn....

Now I'm not Greek, but if I were a guy pursuing Greekdom, I'd definitely wanna pursue Alpha Phi Alpha. Just something about them.....

ClassyLady 02-23-2003 01:48 AM

I think that I would pursue Alpha Phi Alpha or Kappa Alpha Psi.

Alpha: I never had the opportunity to meet any Alpha men before I came to college. Once I did though, I was blown away. They are by far the most active fraternity on my campus. Their members are some of the most intelligent, and community oriented Black men that I hav ever met. And, I have found this to be true across the organization.

Kappa: My father is a Kappa man. He is no longer active in the fraternity and I didn't even know he was a member until I was sixteen. If he wasn't I probably would not even consider it. But, I think that if my father had had a son, instead of all girls, he probably would have been motivated to reactivate with the fraternity and instill those ideals in his son. And, for some strange reason, when those Kappa shoulders shake, I get a little weak in the knees. Now, I know how ClassyMomma must have felt.

royalpinkastry 02-23-2003 09:27 PM

I would go Alpha Phi Alpha...no doubt or questions asked.
