Holiday Plans?

I was just wondering what people are doing for christmas break... any exciting vacations out there in anybody's future?

I myself am going to take off this year! NO work, ALL fun :D

I'm in the works of some plans to get the hell out of the Midwest for a while... and I'll post when I get them figured out :)

So what about you??

Read for pleasure. I might travel. The only place I would go would be to IHQ, in order to read the ritual of a fraternity we merged with (Beta Kappa).

A bunch of my sisters and I are thinking of hitting NYC for New Year's. We'd leave on December 28-ish, one sister's dad is a pilot and another's sister works with Continental so we'd have a bunch of buddy tickets, then we'd stay at a sister's apartment in Manhattan.

We're going to have to get kiddie leashes to stay together on New Year's Eve...:)

IowaHawkeye 11-07-2002 05:13 PM

I plan on being in either:

Pasadena (for the Rose Bowl w/ the Hawkeyes)
or
Miami (with the Orange Bowl if thats where my Hawkeyes are)
or
New Orleans (with the Sugar Bow is my Hawkeyes end up there)

basically, wherever Iowa ends up for a bowl game, I plan on attending. it'll be good times :D

Well, seeing as how i won't be planning my holidays around the Aggies this year.(the first time in a LONG time) I think i'll be heading up to South Dakota to go visit my mom on the Rez.

I went last year. Boarded a plane in Houston wearing shorts and flip flops. Let's just say it was a bit of a shock when we touched down in Rapid City and there was snow on the ground.

Freakin Yankee states...from now on i'm staying South of the Mason-Dixon line :D

I'm going on a CRUISE over New Years!!! We're going from New Orleans to Cozumel; Monteago Bay, Jamaica; and Grand Cayman.

Thanksgiving is Omaha and back for the big Nebraska/Colorado game.

December should be a good month :) My boyfriend is coming to visit for a few days in the middle of the month. Not sure what we'll be doing yet...could be just in B'ham, maybe over to Atlanta for a day, maybe to see my parents  (would be a first time meeting type of thing)

Then I'm going to my parents house for Christmas and a few days beforehand. Unfortunately I have to work and provide coverage in my dept. the 26th and 27th :(

But then I'm headed off to FL from the 28th until New Years day to see my sweetie :)

I need a true vacation from work....if I can just make it Thanksgiving I'll be ok!

Kevin 11-07-2002 06:28 PM

Working the whole time.

amycat412 11-07-2002 06:30 PM

I'm going home for Christmas for a couple of days. Then, on the 26th or 27th and thru New Years Mr. amycat and I are taking a trip. We decided not to buy each other presents this year, instead we'd go away together. We MIGHT go to Kona, HI for a week, or Mexico, or.. who knows, haven't totally figured it out yet--but should have it nailed down in the next week or so!

I get to take a trip back to the homeland, IRELAND baby...

and what?! It's going to be so so stellar....lol

ADPi~Ally 11-07-2002 06:49 PM

For Thanksgiving, I'm going to my grandma's house as usual. Get to see all the relatives. Then for Christman break, I get to work. My school we get about a month and a half off, so I should make some money over break. I plan to take off around Christmas (23-27) to help my mom shop for gifts, SLEEP IN and relax. I miss sleep.........

I will be doing the same.

If not Rose, I'm hoping for the Sugar Bowl - my buddy Steve lives Uptown, I wouldn't even have to make it back to the hotel . . . beeeautiful

I did a bowl game one year over my break and it was the best time! Be sure to get a huge group of guys and girls to go... if your school organizes a group trip, do that!

Haha,

Martin's in the western part of South Dakota. I'm not up with my Nebraska geography, so i can't tell ya if we'll pass through Omaha. If we do, i'll be sure to honk a couple times and throw a "I LOVE HOOTIE" out the window for ya.

Keep an eye out for a maroon and tan extended cab F150 with an A&M and a Sigma Nu sticker on the back :D I understand it'll be pretty brave driving it through Husker country.

Kitso
KS 361 times i'm gonna hear about the A&M-NU game from my relatives over CHRISTMAS

Everybody always comes over to our house on holidays. We're one, huge extended family. It'll be the same as last year and the year before. Clean, eat, chilax (chill + relax), dance, sing, watch tv, eat, clean, perhaps go and watch a picture show. Ooooh, I love the holidays!!! Not only does it get colder, but I get to hang out with all of my family. Good times, good times.

Totally random, but I love these smilies! :D

I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for myself, my husband, and my parents. Over Thanksgiving weekend, we're going down to my in-laws, visiting with them, and going to my husband's high school reunion.

For Christmas and New Year's - totally up in the air. Depends on whether I have a job or not. If so, I'll be working because I won't have enough vacation time built up. If not - 2 weeks' vacation :)

Then I am going back to lovely Omaha, NE for about a month.....probably just spend time with my family, two best friends, and Eric (best guy friend) he's spending Christmas with us this year before he goes back to Iowa (he goes to the U of Iowa)

more about your friend eric  is he in a house here?

EagleChick19 11-09-2002 12:16 AM

Most likely, I'll be working over Christmas break.... :(

But, the pay isn't too bad! :)

Sisterplum 11-09-2002 12:19 AM

I'm going home!!!!!!:D:D

Last year we couldn't afford (both time-off-work and monetarily) to go back home to Canada for Christmas....so we went to Texas and spent the holidays with Art's brother, girlfriend, roommate and his girlfriend. While it was fun, I missed my family A LOT!!! It was my first Christmas away from them.

After that, I made my husband promise that we would go home this year....and we are! Unfortunately our tickets weren't cheap (Art's sick of driving to other cities to fly from) because we're flying from this small little crappy airport with only 4 airlines (and only 2 that fly to Canada). Almost $800 for the both of us to go home for a week.....and that includes 3 (!!!!) stopovers and a total of 10 hours travel time!!!!

But I couldn't be happier!!! We leave on Christmas Eve and return New Years Day (saved $300 flying these days!).....this means I get to spend New Years Eve with my sisters, partying it up at home!!!

The only downside: I haven't seen snow in 2 years! I'm gonna freeze my Canadian-accustomed-to-Southern-living butt off!!!!!!:D:D:D

Halifax had 8 inches of snow yesterday and I called my mom and laughed at her for 5 minutes....she said "You just wait till you get off the plane sweetie......and remember you laughing now! I will have no pity for you!"

Gotta love my mom!:D

shopgirl 11-09-2002 12:27 AM

:D :D :D Going to New York!!!:D :D :D

...for Thanksgiving. I leave on the 24th and return on the 29th. I'm so excited. My parents just moved back from Japan (haven't seen them in over a year), so I'll see them in New York, as well as my entire extended family (haven't seen them in three years!)..

I cannot express just how happy I am to be spending a week in New York, with my family, during the holiday!!!:D
