Most chapters in a state?

Not sure if this has been done before, but what state does your org have the most chapters in?

Our top:
Tennessee- 9 (plus 1 colony)
Ohio- 8 (plus 1 colony)
Georgia-7
Kentucky-7
North Carolina-7
South Carolina- 7

DaffyKD 11-02-2002 11:07 AM

Dani,

Are you talking about active chapters or those that have been closed too?

kddani 11-02-2002 11:11 AM

oops... shoulda said that! Active. We don't seem to have a list of dormant readily accessible.

CarolinaDG 11-02-2002 11:39 AM

California-18 (Including 3 in LA)
Ohio/Pennsylvania-9
Florida, Indiana, Texas-7

ilovemyglo 11-02-2002 12:10 PM

Okay I think I have this right but any AGD's (or others) can correct me-
Pennsylvania and Michigan both have 9
Alabama has 8
Georgia has 7
Ohio has 6
Illinois and Kentucky both have 5

So those are our tops! I think that we are pretty spread out from what I can tell and I like that! I don't want to be a sorority of (insert part of nation here)

honeychile 11-02-2002 12:38 PM

The top states for Alpha Delta Pi chapters are:

10 - California, Texas
9 - North Carolina, Tennessee
8 - Georgia
7 - Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina

sigtau305 11-02-2002 12:42 PM

ZetaLuvBunny 11-02-2002 01:15 PM

Zeta Tau Alpha

**Texas: 15 active chapters**
Pennsylvania: 13 active chapters
North Carolina: 9 active chapters
South Carolina and Georgia: 8 active chapters each
Alabama, Florida, Missouri, and Virginia: 7 active chapters each
New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee: 6 active chapters each

and so on.....

jonsagara 11-02-2002 01:16 PM

LCA top 3:

PA: 18
TX: 16
CA 14

33girl 11-02-2002 01:32 PM

ASA

We have 13 in PA and 9 in Missouri, but the average Missouri chapter is 4 times as big as the average PA chapter, so that's where the "power" lies.

Pi Beta Phi

Someone correct me if I am wrong.. but Pi Phi has....

California- 12 (plus a colony which is about to be installed)
Indiana- 8
Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas - 7

My state, VA, has six... :)

bcdphie 11-02-2002 02:48 PM

I think this is correct:

Delta Phi Epsilon...

New York - 18

New Jersey - 13

Pennsylvania - 13

Michigan - 7

Nikki_DZ 11-02-2002 03:16 PM

DZ has the most chapters in:

Pennsylvania-17
Ohio-11
North Carolina, Texas-10
Illinois-9
California, Michigan, Missouri-8
Alabama, Virginia-6

kddani 11-02-2002 03:18 PM

I've never realized that PA was such a big greek state.... maybe just because we have a TON of colleges and universities?
There's only 4 KD chapters in PA (used to be a few more). So I guess I just always kind of thought that PA wasn't the biggest greek state- you always think of the south (Texas, Alabama, etc) as being the big greek places.

PhiMuLady150 11-02-2002 04:00 PM

Phi Mu

If you include the chapter being founded at USF next fall, ZTA has 8 chapters in Florida making it the sorority with the most number of chapters in the state. :D

PhiSigButterfly 11-02-2002 08:15 PM

Phi Sig has 21 chapters in New York...I knew we had a lot in that area but not that many. It's cool to see how many chapters each org has in different states

33girl 11-02-2002 11:19 PM

Pennsylvania

Dani - I think it's just because we are such a big state, not because Greek life is super huge. We've got 14 state schools, Pitt, Penn State and heaven knows how many more colleges & universities.

Also I think in the South there tend to be 7 chapters of 150 members each at a school, and up here, we have 12 chapters of 60 each. So naturally we would have more chapters as a whole.

According to the Phi Mu website, PA has 7 chapters. I assume that all of them are open.

Peaches-n-Cream 11-03-2002 02:49 AM

I think that there are a lot of chapters in Penn because there are a lot of colleges in Penn. :)

I didn't know that Phi Sig had so many chapters in NY.

Which schools are your Arizona chapters at? I was under the assumption that there were only 4 schools in this state that could have NPC groups at them: U of A, ASU, NAU, and Embry-Riddle. But I could be wrong!! Enlighten me!

Lindsay :)

Boy, am I embarrassed! I counted the chapters per state, and scribbled it on a piece of paper - my 3 looked like a seven! Oops!
Thanks for having me check my facts (the others are right!).

ZTA chapters in SC: USC, Clemson, C of C, Wofford, Winthrop, PC, Furman.... But who else? USCS? Francis Marion, maybe? We're a small state, and a lot of our schools don't have greek life, so I can't figure out where they'd all be. I'm curious where the two chapters were added.

ZTA's South Carolina chapters are at: College of Charleston, USC-Columbia, Presbyterian College, Clemson, Lander University, Wofford, Winthrop, Francis Maron, USC-Aiken, and USC-Spartanburg.

CarolinaDG 11-03-2002 08:28 PM

All right, that makes sense now. I didn't think Furman had a chapter, but I didn't know... and I forgot about Lander and didn't realize USC-Aiken had greek life.

FuzzieAlum 11-04-2002 06:11 PM

AXD has:

12 in OH
7 in MI
6 in NC + one colony to be installed in Nov.
6 in PA and NY
5 in WV, CA, FL
4 in TX, IA

So we're pretty well spread out!

ZTAngel 11-05-2002 12:06 AM

Actually, I did cheat....I looked it up on the ZTA website. :D

Let's see, if I counted correctly:

Alabama has 8 active chapters (Birmingham Southern, Auburn, University of South Alabama, Huntingdon, UAB, Jacksonville State, Samford and Alabama)

Tennessee has 7 active chapters (UT Knoxville, UT Martin, Vandy, Rhodes, Cumberland, MTSU and Lambuth)

Kentucky has 6 active chapters (Eastern, Western, Murray State, Transy, Louisville and Kentucky) We also used to have chapters at Morehead and Thomas More.

OH, CA, FL, IL, IN and PA all have 5 active chapters. We also have 5 active chapters in Canada (3 in Ontario, one in Alberta and one in Quebec.)
