Well, we took pics with the SAE lion too, but we kept our pants on. :D

I wonder what their rationale was for doing this stuff?

iiiiinteresting. I don't really understand the appeal either.

However, I personally find the *maggots* and bourbon to be more appalling than the featured "hazing" event. :eek: The Pikes' sound more like typical mischief than hazing... but I wasn't there so what the hell do I know :D

I dont see how this was hazing. It seems like some of the pledges just screwing around to me. I mean, taking a picture with a lion and trying to take a stop sign? I've done worse.

Sounds like the 1 brother made the 10 pledges do it. There is no mention of the brother doing anything like the pledges did. I am sure we will find out more later.

Sounds like a scavenger hunt. The probably had to get pictures of themselves pretending to have sex with the lion.

I know you were active at UF... Did you affiliate this year at UCF?

Most fraternity hazing policies identify scavenger hunts as a specific form of hazing (in any form). That's where the hazing charges probably come from.

Why? Do you think they will lose their charter again? After coming back I would think it would not look to good to get in trouble again. I am sure if they lost their charter again it would be for good.

UF_Pike...you seem to have no problem carrying on a conversation about other houses on campus...why should we not talk about yours?

Well at any rate it was at the MOST a scavenger hunt that could be proven... Stress is on the word COULD.

It's up to PKA HQ to do what needs to be done and I'll assume they'll make a good decision.

And pray tell, what happened here? We don't know from the article, a short snippet that deals only in vague 'charges' being brought for something that could go either way, from relatively benign to perhaps serious.

Your jump to make this out to be serious, even before hearing out the facts, shows your dislike for UF_Pike as the motivation for the post - just let the guy ride, who knows what really happened here?

I'm sure you'd expect the same respect from others should you be put in this situation . . .

I think that worse things have happened within certain fraternities than a group of pledges taking pictures with the SAE lion... I heard part of the problem was with the fact that the lion is part of their fraternal heritage... according to rumor they paint that lion gold everytime the take a girls virginity so hey a few naked butts can't be much harm...

It wasn't from personal experience if that was what you were implying... almost everybody at UF knows that... where have you been? :confused:

Usually, it's only during Homecoming that SAE paints their lion gold. Though I'm not sure about the other times it's painted...

And, a funny little fact - in 1957, my mother painted the UF SAE lion....and did not get caught!

Well, actually, she got caught staying out past curfew...but no one ever found out!

They just randomly paint that lion. They paint it themselves for big games, homecoming, initiation, etc. Everyone else trashes it. My ex is an SAE and I've asked him about the painting, what happens if you get caught...there's not much to the story. I think we all just have more fun speculating.

Did y'all see how cute it is today? ADPi raided their house for Homecoming and put a bow and pearls on the lion with red lips.

ps: when I graduate I'll be able to boast about this...;)
