160Ibs for a lady too fat?
I read about all these slim gals...i'm not fat but i know i could do with losing a few pounds...is 160Ibs too fat for you guys (I'm 5'4) ?
|
Some girls carry it differently than others...
A weight/height ratio is too little to go on. And how fat is too fat? Well it depends on for what purpose:D As long as you're healthy though you're not too fat. |

As a former high school teacher who has dealt with countless girls who fret about their weight (been there, done that myself..)
First of all, no one can say another is "too fat" -- because there's always someone else who thinks you're "just right." Plus, as ktsnake said, people carry their weight differently than others. But, this shouldn't be an excuse to be overweight. Your goal should be to look "healthy." If you find yourself eating pizza 2 times or more a week, french fries & other fast foods, cookies, etc... well, that's certainly NOT a healthy way to live. Forget those late night eating binges, too. Many girls judge their weight by which stores they can shop in, ie, if they can't find anything that fits them in the Gap/ Abercrombie/Old Navy etc, then they try to lose weight. However, this is not always a good predictor. Exercise, plus a healthy diet - these are the keys to getting (and staying) in shape. Don't make any excuses. |
Healthy is good. However in our soceity it is sill how you look. If you "look good" the number of pounds don't make as big a difference. Unfortunately if you are overweight there is still a stigma whether you are healthy or not. (Come on, be honest!) Unfortunately it seems that prejudice to fat people is still an accepted one.
|
And always keep in mind....muscle ways more than fat! Some girls are just more solidly built than others.
|
While I agree in main with what everyone has said here, I do want to disagree with one thing - there IS such a thing as too fat. If you literally can't get out of your house or your bed - or your weight is presenting MAJOR health issues - it shouldn't matter whether anyone appreciates that look; you should seek medical attention to help you with weight loss.
That said, I'm talking around 500 pounds here, not 160! |
Why was my post deleted? She asked a question and I gave her an answer.
Once again, yes, you're fat. |
Contact- why are you concerned over how it's perceived? How do YOU feel about it? Do you feel healthy? What's your BMI, etc.? If you're athletic, 160 on a 5'4 frame wouldn't be much at all.
Just putting a height and a weight together mean nothing... it's all in the context of everything else. |

I personally don't think 160 is fat for 5'4, because I have seen very athletic girls weigh around the same thing and NOT be fat at all. I am 5'8 and weigh 134. I don't work out much anymore but a few years back I used to be obsessed with it (I was involved in 2 sports heavily). I am one of those that believes that if one wants weight off, all they need is hard work. That being said, why on earth do you car what people think of you? None of our opinions matter anyway. Don't let others determine your own self-worth. |
She asked a question which was, "AM I FAT?" and I said YES.

Granted Imthechamp is rude about how they are responding but i almost have to agree, a weight of 160 at a height of 5'4" is considered on a BMI scale of 27.5. Well into the Overweight catagory. Also the average weight in our country in 5'4" 144 pounds which is a size 12.
From CDC.gov or Center for Disease Control. BMI compares well to body fat but cannot be interpreted as a certain percentage of body fat. The relation between fatness and BMI is influenced by age and gender. For example, women are more likely to have a higher percent of body fat than men for the same BMI. At the same BMI, older people have more body fat than younger adults.2 BMI is used to screen and monitor a population to detect risk of health or nutritional disorders. In an individual, other data must be used to determine if a high BMI is associated with increased risk of disease and death for that person. BMI alone is not diagnostic. 3 How does BMI relate to health among adults? A healthy BMI for adults is between 18.5 and 24.9. BMI ranges are based on the effect body weight has on disease and death. 4 A high BMI is predictive of death from cardiovascular disease. Diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis are also common consequences of overweight and obesity in adults. Obesity itself is a strong risk factor for premature death. 5 BMI Cutpoints for Adults We interpret BMI values for adults with one fixed number, regardless of age or sex, using the following guidelines: Underweight BMI less than 18.5 Overweight BMI of 25.0 to 29.9 Obese BMI of 30.0 or more |
So where's your picture? You'd better be cute as hell to be talking like this to everyone. Or maybe you yourself are "fat" and bitter because no sorority girls will talk to you so you come on here and try to cause trouble. Or maybe you have some sexual fetish for larger ladies and are in denial.... What's your deal?
And not that your post really deserves an answer, but no, i'm not fat, sorry to disappoint you. And i'm not hiding anything like you are by not posting a pic- my pic has been seen by many on here, as well as several people have actually met me in person. Are you in a GLO? Doesn't seem so from any of your posts. So why are you here? |
Damn Danielle....
That was good.... That little lawyer chick coming out..... I think thats kinda sexy.... tear his a$$ up... |

You know, it's kinda funny though....
This guys reminds me of myself when I first joined greek chat. (Not abiding by any rules, not caring about others feelings, saying whatever I want.) After several run-ins with John...I've become a bit more controlled. Some people would call that censored. Still though, I think the guy is funny..... And, this might be piss some of you off, 160 pounds for a chick that is 5'4 is fat......most girls 5'9 don't even weigh 160 pounds. Think about it.... All he did was give his opinion.....I'm not defending him since I haven't seen all his other posts....but he is right.... |
And aren't we all proud of how you've grown and matured, lol :p
If John wants to censor, he has every right to. Being on this board is a priviledge to all of us, not a right. He chooses to own and operate this. His court, his rules :) Thankfully he seems to have a good heart and a forgiving nature towards some people. |
I've got to say it--
Why are you looking to strangers who can't even see you to validate or invalidate your weight? If you are uncomfortable with yourself, do something about it. Work out, diet, meditate, etc. If you are not uncomfortable, stop worrying about it and live your life. If you are happy with who you are, no one else's opinion of you should matter. We all come in many different shapes and sizes, and thank God for that, it makes life interesting. |
Listen, she made a post asking if people thought she was fat. I said yes, because in my world, that's a big ass girl.
Then you make a post calling me an insecure jerk... Uh yeah, I guess anyone who is honest is a jerk huh? What did you want me to do? Spare her feelings? Lie to her like the rest of yall spouting that bullshit about health and height/weight ratios? Who is the jerk? The person lying, or the guy who is honest? She asked, "Am I fat?", she didn't ask, "Am I healthy?". No one really gives a shit about who's heartbeat is faster and who has a lower cholestrol. |
Once again- where's your picture, mr. stud?
|
Carry On.....
Howdy,
I've deleted and/or edited out all flames. If your thread has been edited or deleted it's because it was a flame or referred to a flame. BTW: Contact chose the word 'fat', not Imchamp, so please don't be astonished that he used her word. Some might find it distasteful (including me), but hey, that's what she asked. If you haveQuestions or Comments please PM me. ZA |
I think it's mostly how well you carry yourself (where the weight is) and mostly how much body fat you have. That's the biggest thing. When I was with my ex (who is a personal trainer) he urged me to stop thinking of weight in numbers but more or less as body fat and what percentage I have.
If you ever have the chance to get your body fat taken, I hightly suggest it. Women can weight 140 and be 5'4 but still be healthy because they have 18% body fat (which is lean). |
Technically, by numbers alone, you are overweight . . . but without a picture I think's impossible to tell whether or not you're fat. (Plus, I think most of us here are tactful enough that even if you were fat, we wouldn't come out and say it. Apparently this doesn't apply to all of us, though . . . )
Everybody here has made really important points but I think amycat's was most important: why are you asking for somebody else's opinion on your weight? If you're happy with your weight, then that's more important than what everybody else thinks. If you're not happy, do something about it! I know my eating and exercise habits have a huge amount to do with how I view myself and my self-esteem -- way more than my weight, even. I know from previous experience that if I'm 115 pounds but eating tons of junk food and not exercising, I hate my body -- whereas if I'm 135 but I'm running, doing yoga and eating lots of fruits and veggies I feel a lot better about myself. |

I'm not sure why you people feel the need to make posts like this and put your pictures online. Are yall really that insecure that you need a bunch of strangers you don't even know to tell you "OH HEY YOU'RE CUTE!" If you think you're fat, you are. If you think you're ugly, you are. Get it? |

So its nothing to do with self esteem and more just to do with wanting to put a face to the personalities we've come to know on this board. |

Also, most of us have been posting pictures- refer to the Official Greekchat Photoalbum thread. And additionally, the reason I said that to begin with, is that if you're going to criticize people in the manner in which you did, you'd better be perfect, or in this case, have a great body. Basically being able to back up what your mouth says. No one's posted a picture and said- hey, rate me! So i'm not sure where you're getting that from. |
champ
I'm agreeing with UFPike and champ on this one. I don't care how you sugar coat this and how much you talk about muscle weighing more than fat, etc.
-Rudey --"Hey you still are beautiful and i'm sure you carry the weight well"...I'm sure statements like that don't insult anyone's intelligence. |

And for goodness sake guys....when you read a Playmate's profile and she says something like: "My measurements are 36D-23-26, I'm 5'4 and I weigh 102 lbs." She's fibbing! It's simply not true. No way, no how, nuhuh :) |
Yeah, but those girls are beautiful.
I have yet to see any girls on this site who are better then average looking. |

First of all, the post about the Playmate thing is SOOOOO true. I think that is the priomary reason guys are so completely ignorant about what women REALLY weigh. I am so sick of seeing these girls in there who are 36D-25-36 who are 5'9 and claim to weigh 119 pounds. PLEASE. Let me put it this way.....I am 5'8. I was a professional model in college, and by that I do not mean cheesecake bikini calendar crap where the girls are all hair and boobs......I mean I was SKINNY. I wore a size 2-4.....and I weighed 130-135 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!! And I didn't have six pounds of boobs either.
Second of all, I find the comment that there are only average looking women on here at best LAUGHABLE. Just read the comments from the other guys!!!!!! I'd LOVE to see your idea of beautiful. Honestly, for 5'4 160 pounds is probably a bit overweight. I know that your frame size, muscle mass, etc. can factor but if you are asking about it I suspect your weight bothers you. Don't worry about what a bunch of strangers think. Get yourself to a weight YOU are comfortable with and you won't have to ask people who don't count. |
There is nothing wrong with fake tits or a fake nose.
I'd take that over a 160lb girl anyday. |

You have quite the ego there, sweetie.
|
Yeah, I think I am above average but I refuse to post a picture -- I don't want people I don't know loking at me unless they pass my pre-screening!
I don't know... I'm not a supermodel or anything, but I think I'm pretty cute. |
I did post a picture and I think I am at least a little above average...guess some guys just have standards that are just a bit unrealistic...at least we have personalities and something of a brain...
http://www.brentroad.com/photos/Cee-...lsize/5318.jpg ^^ Hardly hidious. |
Personality and brains mean nothing to me.
