IU Bid Day

Does anyone know since IU is moving to a "Bid Day" if most of all the chapter's members will be present in the stands sort of like bid day at South Carolina? If so that would be epic!!!!

Cookiez17 01-05-2026 05:33 PM

Hey so lurking around social media (was trying to find info to say, oh you get X number of houses back for sisterhood.) ASA wasn't listed with all the chapter features, even though I know they conduct separate informal recruitment. I also checked their socials and they haven't posted since November. I hope they didn't close down.

Here's the link to the complete detailed recruitment schedule. Open round is virtual and is 21 chapters.

Does IU have the most Panhellenic chapters in the US?

I know Penn State was close, but they’ve lost a few?

Who did PSU lose? Two of my greataunts were in the pre-Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter.

According to the thread here, PSU has 18.

My wording was a bit off because I didn’t know how to quantify the ones who were on probation.

Cookiez17 01-06-2026 09:43 PM

PSU at the moment has 18 on campus. ASA just came back in 2023. It got to a point that they now use variable quota for the sororities.

Preference Round and Bid Day are the Saturday and Sunday before the National Championship football game. I'm sure there are going to be a number of members/PNMs who will be down in Miami on those days - cheerleaders, members of the Marching Hundred, Redsteppers, family/significant others of players, etc. I wonder how that's going to be handled. (This has never been a concern before now. : ) )

Yup, they just had it yesterday. I'm lurking around to see if any numbers are posted. I'm excited to see how DG did since it's their first recruitment after colonizing.

Alabama has 18 NPC members

In previous years we have had cheerleaders out due to the national cheer competitions as well as rowers and other athletes out for training and competitions. Not really a big deal- panhellenic has it down to a science with videos and questionnaires.
Since the game is on Monday evening, most people aren't leaving until Sunday evening or Monday morning, so most people will be there for preference on Saturday.

I wish schools wouldn’t do multiple weekends of recruitment. It drags things out unnecessarily and becomes unfair to everyone.

100%. While spring vs fall recruitment still gets argued here, they should at least have the PNMs come back early from break similar to what the SEC schools do and just have it for one week.

Since Greek Row is spread out, does IU Panhellenic hire buses specifically for use by PNMs during Formal Recruitment?

They used to, not sure if they still do this. So many women have cars now, they may not.

Cookiez17 01-18-2026 02:30 PM

Recruitment just wrapped (via social media) and 1,690 women got bids, making it the largest recruitment in the country! There are no numbers for the NMCs yet, but they'll appear soon.

Titchou 01-18-2026 10:58 PM

Not to be snarky or tacky but Alabama pledged about 2400 this school year. Over 2500 signed up.

They do come back early. The first week of recruitment is before classes start for second semester.

Isn’t Arkansas also above 2000 bids as well?

Glad to see Greek life thriving on so many campuses. What a fantastic week for these women at IU, bid day and then winning the national championship the next day????! How fun!!!!

FSUZeta 01-21-2026 08:02 PM

Yes

Cookiez17 01-21-2026 08:35 PM

I am happy to see interest in greek life going up like that! A lot of places are seeing record registrations/NMCs.

Yes, busses are used and they have cars that drive PNMs that cannot walk for various reasons. That being said, PNMs get A LOT of steps in during recruitment.
