Alabama Recruitment 2025

YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!! Alabama recruitment is here!! 2,590 PNMs have registered and here’s to hoping they all find their home!

Saturday, August 9: Convocation
Sunday, August 10: Open House Videos
Monday, August 11: Philanthropy Day I
Tuesday, August 12: Philanthropy Day II
Wednesday, August 13: Philanthropy Day III
Thursday, August 14: Sisterhood Day I
Friday, August 15: Sisterhood Day II
Saturday, August 16: Preference Day
Sunday, August 17: Bid Day

I will also say that if you pass a PNM on your tik tok feed if you’re on bama rush talk, remember to wish them the best! AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!

How is this recruitment set up, invite-wise? Do PNMs visit all houses for Philanthropy, or are cuts made after the Open House videos?

There wasn’t a breakdown of “you can have X number of houses for each round” on the PHC site. I’m going to assume cuts are made after open house.

carnation 08-08-2025 12:11 PM

LOL, plenty of cuts have already been made.

shadokat 08-08-2025 12:24 PM

Cuts happen after the open house videos.

carnation 08-08-2025 01:25 PM

Some of those chapters made cuts awhile back and not just for grades. It's too hard if you wait until after open house videos to make them; there are far too many girls. I feel for the girls who have carefully made videos but they were never going to make it to second parties.

Can the houses see the PNM videos before the official open house round begins?

It's Bama Recritment  I'm surmising yes, due to time constraints and PNM volume

navane 08-09-2025 07:35 PM

Right?? With 2,590 PNMs, how does anyone expect the chapter to watch all of those videos? I'm wondering if they make a first pass of cuts based on just GPA, questionable social media, and if anyone reports a PNM's poor reputation. Even then, that would still be over a thousand videos to watch. That doesn't sound feasible.......................

They do make the first pass.

With live recruitment, each member recruiting meets a small fraction of the PNM pool, right? Maybe there's an equivalent approach to viewing the videos? Many hands make light work, and there's no shortage of hands in an Alabama chapter. Clearly they are making it work, so respect to all the women organizing this giant cat herd.

Heck, we did that 45 years ago.:)

Cookiez17 08-10-2025 09:30 PM

Oh trust me, while social media is seen as the main thing, word of mouth is the way at the end of the day. I saw a tik tok and hometown/teacher huddles are still very much a thing!

chi-o_cat 08-11-2025 09:30 AM

Oh, the PNMs submit videos! That makes more sense, plus, yes, I understand about "cuts already have been made," based on grades, social media sleuthing, and prior connections from high schools, hometowns, camps, etc.

Thanks for the explanations. :)

I was thinking it was only the PNMs watching a video about each chapter. Do they also do that, and PNMs then rank after the first round?

According to Greek Chic, yes.

Cookiez17 08-11-2025 10:06 AM

I did see that rather than letting the PNMs watch the videos from their dorm, they all had to go to a campus building and do it in several rooms based on their rho chi group.

ComradesTrue 08-12-2025 10:04 AM

TCU has the PNMs set aside a full day at home shortly before move in day to watch all the videos. Pretty sure UGA did the same thing.

For the PNMs that are complaining that "chapters are cutting me without even meeting me" well, um, PNMs are doing the exact same thing! They are ranking the chapters before meeting them. So both sides are fair.

Both sides are working with data points (GPA, philanthropy, colors, symbols, high school activities) as well as measurables, opinions, and "feels." This is actually a great way to shorten the week by 2-3 days at these larger recruitments. The girls on both sides are less tired, it is 2-3 less outfits to buy, and by and large seems to be working well.

Cookiez17 08-12-2025 10:19 AM

Yeah I do like the new open house format, especially with the south being so hot and letting the PNMs sit in comfortable AC and watch the videos.

PiPhiERDoc 08-13-2025 01:10 PM

There was discussion on TikTok that Bama might be doing variable quota this year because the early cuts have been huge - anyone know?

Yeah I just came back from Greek chic’s video. 2000 cuts EACH from 6-7 houses, that is crazy! If that’s because they’re doing variable this year that could explain it.

FSUZeta 08-13-2025 01:52 PM

It seems more feasible that variable quota would be used to allow any chapters with significantly smaller membership to have a higher quota, in the hopes that they would be able to “catch up” sooner.

Cookiez17 08-13-2025 02:20 PM

On a more fun note the door chants for each house are being posted to the panhellinc Instagram page!

I went through what was then called rush 40+ years ago. My daughters went through recruitment 19 and then 16 years ago. I watched the daughter of a friend go through last fall. I am just floored by the changes that have taken place over the years. Kudos to all the young ladies who year-after-year work hard to fill the ranks!

Sounds about right, the highest recruiting strength chapters at a given school will release about 2/3 of the PNM pool after round 1, and I don’t think that’s even influenced by variable quota. It’s what makes RFM work.
