What to Binge Watch?

I feel like I've watched everything there is to watch. What are your "must watch" shows and which streaming service do you watch it on?

I just finished "The Summer I Turned Pretty" Seasons 1 and 2 on Amazon Prime
Also finished The Crown on Netflix
Finished "My Life with the Walter Boys", "Squid Game The Challenge", "Virgin River" on Netflix
Finished "The Morning Show", "Ted Lasso" and "Buccaneers" on AppleTV
Finished "The Gilded Age" on MAX

Watching Murder in Boston but it's only 3 episodes so it won't take long.

What to watch, what to watch?

*winter* 12-29-2023 03:56 PM

It’s less Must See and more Keep a Barf Bag Nearby TV, but the Jared from Subway documentary is well done. I’m watching it on Discovery Plus app.

Just finished House of Villains on E and that was excellent. I just bought it on iTunes so idk what service it would be on.

Comcast:
CNN @ MSNBC

Pinkmagnolia921 12-29-2023 06:31 PM

The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem.

cheerfulgreek 12-29-2023 06:50 PM

While I’m partially kidding about CNN & MSNBC (making fun of myself for being such a news junkie :p) — I am getting ready to start “Obsession” on Netflix. I plan on binging it during my staycation. The description reads pretty good, but we shall see. I think it’s like.. 4 episodes?

SquirrelyDays 12-29-2023 07:55 PM

Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders, Grantchester
…. Lotsa murders on the TV at our house

cheerfulgreek 12-29-2023 10:50 PM

I finished “Obsession” and I was like… O-M-G!

I did try to watch Dahmer before and couldn’t finish it. Ted Bundy, Green River Killer…no problem but Dahmer was so over the top psycho.

Ohhhh, it’s in a bad way… really, really bad lol. But it’s a very suspenseful must watch.

I'm reading reviews of it:

I don't even know where to begin with this. If I could give it zero stars, I would.
Everything was bad. The script was bad - no, actually, it was non-existent. The dialogue was awkward and there was not enough of it to give us any connection between the characters or to develop the story. The acting was wooden, and I agree with one review that said the two leads constantly looked uncomfortable and like they needed the toilet. There was just no chemistry between Armitage and Murphy. There were scenes that made no sense, such as that bizarre hotel pillow scene.
Let's face it, Netflix took something already bad and made it as bad as it can get. They took a soulless story and turned it into an adult film made out to be a thriller.

I think I'll skip that one!

I recommend everyone watch bojack horseman. It's one of my faves.

Though the first show I binge watched on netflix all the way back in 2010 was heroes.

*winter* 12-30-2023 02:00 AM

The Natalia Grace show was interesting. I don’t think it was particularly unbiased, but one featuring Natalia’s side just came out on ID.

lol
I’m glad you read the reviews. I mean, I didn’t want you to watch it, then say.. “This is terrible. Thanks a lot, CG!” :p

I didn’t recognize any of the actors but the suspense is what kept me watching. And then, I think I was more focused on how some people can allow something they know is wrong to consume and destroy everything they have. And then, it wasn’t predictable like a lot of movies I’ve seen. I had no idea that a lot of what happened was going to happen in the way that it did.

I do think they could have left some of the sex scenes out…. well, maybe like… most of them? lol. Some of the sex was a bit much. I think they still could have shown his obsession with her by using more mild content, and still get the point across. Other than that, the beginning of the movie, and the very end, I thought it was worth the watch. Kind of reminded me of Diane Lane’s and Richard Gere’s “Unfaithful”.

I’ve been obsessing that everyone thinks I am weird(er?) for suggesting the Jared documentary…to clarify, contains spoiler:

it’s his “story” but mostly the story of one of the main people who took him down. It was a regular woman who ran a radio show he went on…he must have felt comfortable with her during his visit because he made a comment about the girls at the middle school during their event. As a mom and a normal person, she was horrified, so she took it upon herself to become this self made vigilante Chris Hansen while simultaneously living her everyday life. She’s the true definition of a hero for the sacrifices she made to ensnare him in order to protect children…while seeing him out in public interacting with children ever day. It’s crazy bad how horrible he was but also crazy good how the helpers came through to put him away and protect kids.

No judgement on that one at all!

Another good murder-solving show is “Annika” on PBS (or on the PBS app). British murder mystery. The lead character breaks the 4th wall, which adds interest. It’s in it’s 2nd season and the last episode of the 1st season is a shocker. I was addicted after one show.

UVASquirrel 12-31-2023 07:10 PM

We just finished binge watching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.

Xidelt 12-31-2023 11:15 PM

We Are Lady Parts on Peacock.

*winter* 01-01-2024 01:53 AM

Gotta figure out a way to see the Natalia Grace speaks this week…just got caught up again on the parts from last summer and her parents were…interesting, let’s say.

I am so interested to hear her side of the story.

cheerfulgreek 01-01-2024 05:16 PM

I’m resuming “For All Mankind” on Apple TV. This will be a good binge watch the next few days for sure.

FSUZeta 01-01-2024 07:24 PM

The Murdaugh Family murders on Netflix is good. In regards to the British murders they’re more cozy murders, if there is such a thing. More cerebral. As is Just Murders in the Building.

KatieKate1244 01-07-2024 05:15 PM

Apple TV: Slow Horses is delightful. Funny & suspenseful which is really hard to do well.
Netflix: Outer Banks. This has been out for awhile but it's great for escapism. It's a little bit nuts in parts but a good nuts.

PrettyBoy 01-07-2024 09:09 PM

I started this show called Fastlane on Tubi. I haven’t had really any time to watch it, so I’m still on season 1/episode 1. I’m watching it now, so I’ll finish this one and episode 2 tonight before I go to bed. I like the storyline. Really cool cars in it too. Reminds me of Miami Vice — my favorite TV show when I was a kid. The sick cars make it hard to pay attention to what’s going on in it though. :D

I always recommend "The Newsroom" on Max. One of my favorite shows of all time. And, a good commentary on how news programs are affected by ratings and sponsor interference.

owlsandkeys 01-08-2024 02:02 PM

I recently binge watched Greek on either Hulu or HBO Max (can't remember which). It was entertaining.

People Magazine Investigates (Discovery Plus) is good if you're into true crime at all.

I also liked "The Last Thing He Told Me" on Apple TV.

cheerfulgreek 01-28-2024 12:42 PM

I started a series on Netflix last night, titled “Fool Me Once”. I’m like 10-minutes into it, so I don’t know nearly enough about it to see if it’s something I want to continue watching.

Sciencewoman 01-28-2024 06:26 PM

We're binging Northern Exposure, which is only of my all time favorite shows. It's finally streaming TV or the first time due to music copyright issues, on Amazon Prime.

LaneSig 01-29-2024 03:51 PM

Based on true stories:

"Unbelievable" on Netflix; True story of a young woman who was sa'd in northwest. Police interview of her report decided she was lying. Spoiler: she wasn't.
"The Act" on Hulu; Gypsy Rose Blandchard Munchaunsen by Proxy case. Patricia Arquette and Joey King are excellent.

For lighter fare "SuperStore" on Hulu. I really liked it when they started giving side characters bigger roles. Sandra's arc is one of the best on tv.

Loved a lot of these! I would absolutely watch Northern Exposure again! Loved "The Last Thing He Told Me" (also a book!) and Super Store was great.

I’m currently binding Why Women Kill and Alias on the nights my husband is working. When he’s off, we watch way too many episodes of Criminal Minds.

Just finished up an episode of Muscle Car of the Week that I’ve been binge watching. 71 Corvette with the 454 LS6 package — had to watch that one before I go to bed. :D

If you like CM, Jim Clemente (former FBI profiler and one of the producers) has two podcasts: Best Case/Worst Case and Real Crime Profile.

Thanks! I’ll have to check that out. I love My Favorite Murder but I haven’t gotten the chance to listen in a while.

This series is like, really bizarre, but really good, so far. I know what I’m going to be doing tonight. TGIF. :)

Finding Andrea on Discovery Plus is REALLLLLY GOOD

moe.ron 02-08-2024 05:36 AM

I have been binge-watching Mythic Quest on Apple TV+. I highly recommend this TV show.

Cheerio 02-08-2024 08:54 PM

If I had the time, my binge watch choice would include both seasons of a fav program from 2007-09, ABC's Pushing Daisies. Also would re-enjoy both seasons of Showtime's 2003-04 series Dead Like Me.

IndianaSigKap 02-09-2024 10:16 AM

Binging all of the Harlem Coben series on Netflix. Each one is based on one of Coben's books, each is 8 episodes. Very twisty with unexpected events.
