What Does Your Username Mean?

Does your username have a meaning? Why’d you pick it for this site? Explain. I used to post on a BGLO chatroom called black Greek forums. I tried to use my username I had over there over here. It was taken. I tried others frat related and those were taken too. So I just chose my middle-name Zachary. Zach.

carnation 08-02-2023 06:11 AM

Mine is my sorority's flower. It was supposed to have a capital C but came out with a little one and was too hard to change.

Titchou 08-02-2023 06:51 AM

Titchou is a Cajun term of endearment. It is short for petite chou - little cabbage,

Phrozen Sands 08-02-2023 09:03 AM

Phrozen = Ice Cold Alpha Man
Ph = Alpha Phi Alpha
Sands = I crossed the Burning Sands into the Black and Gold of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Phrozen Sands 08-02-2023 09:05 AM

@ Zach. What was your username on black greek forums? You didn’t say.

jolene 08-02-2023 09:15 AM

Jolene is a nickname my sister randomly gave me when I was around 12 (my mom hated it). And then her friends started calling me that... and then my friends. And they still call me that. My sister, BIL, niece, nephew, oldest friends never call me by my real name.

PrettyBoy 08-02-2023 09:44 AM

I went to a relatively small college. After I crossed into Kappa Land, a sorority on campus started calling me “Pretty (insert real first name)”. Then it began to spread across campus and into the college across the street. So then when people on campus would see me going to class, or if I was hanging out at the other college across the street, that’s what they’d call me and the name stuck. That, and I’ve always been told I’m “good looking/handsome/pretty”, so I just said what the hell, I’ll use PrettyBoy.

Today, when I go back for homecoming, I am still called that name by people I was in college with.

D9 GC members thought I chose PrettyBoy because of the Kappa Alpha Psi stereotype. Not the reason at all.

BluPhi. I didn’t try BluPhi1914. I should have tried that.

For those who remember their elementary French classes, way back in GC history someone else's username was mon petit. They haven't posted in forever. Used to wonder if Titchou and mon petit knew one another IRL.

I like those. You’re only a few posts in. See if the mods can change it. Either that or start a new username.

Phrozen Sands 08-02-2023 12:57 PM

PB, did you really arrange a date with her? Lol!!

Man, I have never, ever seen that post. You added that, that’s why. 😂

Not that I am aware of!

AGDee 08-02-2023 06:22 PM

I'm a member of Alpha Gamma Delta (AGD) and my nickname in highschool and college was Dee. So it worked. It was also my personalized license plate for many years but I decided that was just too expensive for no good reason so I let it go.

Lmao!!! No dude, I didn’t change anything. I told y’all when I’m bored, I read old posts. I found that one on you. I didn’t change shit Lol!

UVASquirrel 08-02-2023 07:03 PM

I went to the University of Virginia (UVA)
Squirrel is my sorority's mascot.

honeychile 08-02-2023 08:10 PM

My childhood nickname was Honey, Little Honey, but my cousin's grandmother always called me Honeychile. Honey was taken, so I went with Honeychile. Only like carnation, I messed up with the capitalization! Two of a kind, I suppose!

I should mention that someone told me not to use anything outrageously ADPi, as not to tip my hand. Oh, well...

Okay then. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that post. It’s funny though 😂😂 — love me some chitlins :D

cheerfulgreek 08-02-2023 09:13 PM

cheerful = My love of cheerleading. 4 years in high school. 2 years in undergrad.

greek = because of my Greek culture. My mom is from Greece.

The only greek letter organization I am affiliated with is my Greek letter Biological Sciences Honor Society (nothing to do with my username). I was very proud of that in undergrad. :)

It’s all good. Zach works.

GammaGirl1908 08-03-2023 07:20 AM

There was a famous Newsweek(?) article several years back, talking about how, especially in middle and high school, there famously are alpha girls, the queen bees; and beta girls, who tend to be followers. People often think that’s the whole social scene, but there is another whole category, gamma girls, who are the ones who manage to flip between groups and have friends in multiple circles and not be overly affected by all of the petty drama between the alpha and beta girls. That’s a goal!

Then, of course, my wonderful sorority was born in 1908.

PGD-GRAD 08-03-2023 07:45 AM

PGD-GRAD refers to my fraternity: Phi Gamma Delta and my status as a graduate brother. FIJIs never use the terms “alumni” or “alum”. We may have GRADUATED, but we’ll always be BROTHERS.

33girl 08-03-2023 06:28 PM

My favorite beer used to be* Rolling Rock, which featured the mysterious “33” on the back of the bottle.

*until Anheuser-Busch bought it and turned it into Jersey-made swill. grrr.

SquirrelyDays 08-04-2023 09:26 AM

It's my organization's mascot, plus a reflection of my multitasking.

When I saw your username, I immediately thought of Dolly and Miley.

I’d have never guessed where the Ninja part of your username came from. Nice!

Cookiez17 08-05-2023 03:14 PM

Cookie was the name of my first dog, and the 17 part is from when I made up this username in a chat room was way back when I was a teen lol. Not sure where the Z came from.

sigtau305 08-05-2023 06:10 PM

SigTau = Sigma Tau Gamma
305 = Scroll Number

LaneSig 08-07-2023 10:21 AM

Lane = my name
Sig = official nickname for Sigma Chi members (NOT Sig Chi)

I very vividly remember the lecture I got on this particular point. :D

SWTXBelle 08-08-2023 08:59 AM

SWTX - Southwest Texas State (University) - Now Texas State University, and I'm still bitter.

Belle - childhood nickname.

apd76 08-15-2023 04:51 PM

APD = Alpha Phi Delta fraternity.
76 = 1976, the year of my induction.

Very simple!

MTSUGURL 08-29-2023 05:48 PM

I went to MTSU, and apparently I thought misspelling “girl” was clever or amusing or something. Every time I see it I cringe a little.

Lucia75 09-13-2023 04:26 AM

Lucia is my first name.
75 for the 1975 founding year of my sorority.
Lambda Theta Alpha Sorority, Inc.

lake 10-18-2023 05:41 PM

I was living in Minnesota when I registered here. The U of M is also where I originally went through recruitment and became acquainted with Tri Delta, way back in the day.

Diamond Girl 01-08-2024 05:50 AM

My daddy is a Kappa. I became a Kappa Sweetheart when I was in college because of him. One of the symbols of the men of Kappa Alpha Psi is a diamond. That’s why I chose the name Diamond Girl to represent me here.

Dragon Star 01-24-2025 02:43 PM

It’s related to my fraternity. It’s supposed to be Dragon Stars not Dragon Star. Screwed that up.
