SEC 2021 - very short
 

This is a third person story. Mom is one of my best friends and I have known this girl since she was 4. I only have boys so her girls are as close as I am going to get as daughter's going through rush. This is going to be short because sometimes that is just the way it happens.

Background - This pnm is an absolutely a gem!! Great GPA 3.9, state athlete, pretty, nice and clean social media. I just knew she would have a great rush. Sister who is a senior in house but opted out of rush this year because of work and she knew her sister wanted to do this on her own. Sister is in a good house but not one her mom and I saw her in, plus she wants to blaze her own path from her sister. We both knew she could be happy anywhere even her sisters house. The pledge classes for this school have been around 150. How can you not find your tribe within your own house with those numbers.

School - Large SEC school with 11 houses, I wish this would have been more interesting but going to go with simple naming of these groups. Just some comments about each house on what sister has said and that dumb ranking site that promotes tiers.

Alpha - This is a great name for this house. You will need to know someone and have some pull to get into this house

Betta - Nice laid back girls considered top tier

Gamma - Nice girls with money considered top

Delta - Nice girls that like to be more social, GPA good

Epsilon - Nice girls, very social, mid GPA and one of the newer houses on campus, Sisters house

Zeta - Sweet girls, lovely sisterhood and one of the newer houses on campus

Eta - Great diversity, good sisterhood and one of the newer houses on campus

Theta - Sweet girls that are laid back, no drama

Iota - Nice girls, great grades

Kappa - Nice, social girls, involved mid GPA

Lambda - Nice laid back girls, mid GPA, updated house

I do know the school but this is gonna be a good story!

Ooh boy - I’ve got the school and most of the chapters pegged already. In fact just got home from Bid Day! 😉 And I’m OK that you aren’t super secret and anonymous about it. I love a good story 🤩🍿

I assumed this was Ole Miss because they had Bid Day today...but I thought they were back down to 10 NPC groups after Theta closed a few years ago???

Georgia - 19
UNC - 11
U So Carolina - 13
Tennessee - 13
Kentucky - 14
Ole Miss - 10

Tulane - 9
Arkansas - 11
Missouri - 15

FSU, UNC, and Tulane are not in the SEC (although I think Tulane was many years ago).
Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt round out the 14 SEC schools...with Texas and Oklahoma joining in a few years??? Craziness!!!

Round 1
 

All pnms were to submit a video prior to recruitment. First 2 days all pnms visited all 11 houses and it was a virtual 15min.

Day 1

Eta – First house of the day and wasn’t sure what to expect. She didn’t find the conversation flowing and thought the questions that she was asked were strange.

Beta – Really liked this house and was paired up with someone who did the same athletic stuff she did in high school.

Zeta – Really liked this house, great conversation.

Delta – Good but doesn’t remember much

Gamma – Good but doesn’t remember much from the conversation, kind of forgetful

Iota – Strange girl she was paired with and just didn’t care for.

Epsilon – Liked and wanted to be asked back.

Theta – Not great but not bad but at least remembered it.

Day 1 done and has 3 the next day

Day 2

Alpha – ok

Lambda – Nice but nothing exciting.

Kappa – Loved the girls that she talked to.


Done with the first round and the girls just had to list their bottom 3.
She ranked her bottom 3 as:

Next round the girls were able to go back to a total of 8 houses. Day 3 and 4. This would be the first time to be in person.
It is not uncommon not to have a full schedule and I just knew she would at least have 6. I figured she wouldn’t get back 3 just because of no connections and then a couple of others, just because. I had great hope she would have a full schedule of 8 houses.

Holy Moses when mom called me I thought this isn’t right she had 2. This perfect, kind, sweet, gorgeous girl had 2! Something had to be wrong. This just doesn’t happen to a pnm that has great grades, good rep, sweet and pretty. Well it does and this is where character and strength come into play.

She was in good spirits and was happy to have both of those back. She has always been a laid back kid and goes with the flow. Mom and I were wrecks. I wanted to call big sis and ask What the heck, how do you release a great girl like your sister!!! Yes, sister wasn’t involved in rush but still… Makes me sad about the legacy policies and even my house new policy. My house is not at this school. Both of her parties were the next day. Her roommate had 8 back. Big sis did take her out for some great ice cream that day.

And one of the NPC groups doesn't participate in the mass recruitment.

Round 2, Day 4
 

Day 4/Round 2


Theta – Great/good conversation, nice girl that made her feel welcomed and excited to go back.

Lambda – Ok, not as good as a feel as Theta but just meh about them.

Well on this day they had to rank bottom 3. The next round they would be able to go back to 5 parties. She only had 2 so we just hoped that she had 2 back on sisterhood, for round 3

Conversations between mom and I and Mom and older daughter. We all liked both of the houses but I was rooting for Lambda just because I know more about Lambda. Very positive about Theta but I know nothing about Theta but I do know of Lambda and think it is a great house with lots of history. Older daughter could see her in both but likes Lambda just a little better then Theta just because she knows a few more Lambdas than Thetas.

You just can not go wrong with any of the houses on this campus. I truly have not seen a campus that has this many houses and you could drop any type of girl and they could find their own tribe within the size of the chapters. The less desirable houses can only mean new at this school. These girls in all of the houses on this campus all have gorgeous homes, make quota and GPA's 3.4 above.

Round 3

You could get back 5 houses but we know she could only get 2 since she only went to 2 the round before.

What, What, What is wrong with these houses at this school. How dare Lambda release her. Ok that was mom and I. We were not that serious.

The Pnm was Good!! She was just excited to go back to Theta. It was the first party of the day.

Theta – She walked in and had the best time. Just connected with this great girl who commented on her shoes and that was that. This Pnm his a shoe fetish, loves shoes and would have ton more if she had the room and the money for them. It was just natural.

After this round girls had to rank for Pref, they can go to 2.

This great girl only had 1 so she put them down and hope to see them on Pref night.




The next day..

No knock on the door

She went to Pref at Theta and loved it.


Now mom and I knew she would be a Theta because of RFM. It was a long week but this girl was a trooper, she just went with it and we just knew that god had her in his hands. Her roommate had that perfect rush, full houses and ended up where she wanted (beta). My best friends daughter handled this week with grace and fortitude. She has a tender heart and does fall in love easily, better to not fall for a house and then be released before pref or have 2 and get that 2 choice on bid day. God had her. We were chanting the motto, You only need one all week long.

I can only wonder why her rush was so lacking in invites, Sister felt horrible and blames it on herself because she thinks the other houses dropped her because they just assumed that she would go her house.

No matter what this brilliant pnm went where she was wanted and needed.

I know nothing about this sorority but it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
