GreekChat August 2020 Meeting
 

There have been ongoing discussions about a Zoom meeting for Greekchatters this evening at 7 o'clock P.M. U.S. Eastern Time. I will be posting a link in this thread around the time of the meeting. It'll be a come and go thing with no agenda. Bring your favorite adult beverage or not.

I will do my best to police things, but can't guarantee a safe/trigger-free space, so attend at your own risk. Feel free to use any name you wish and whatever measures you need to to protect your privacy. Video is optional. We'll see how this goes and maybe this will become a regular thing and feel free to post feedback to let me know how I can improve your experience.

Have I missed the link, or is the meeting rescheduled? Thought maybe I read your message wrong.

I had a trial that went long. I didn't get home until just now. I think it'd be good to maybe reschedule or I could send a link around 9PM Eastern? Whatever y'all prefer.

There doesn't seem to be much/any interest. If folks are interested, please let me know.

Can we reschedule another day? I had my first day of school and got home late.

As I created the survey, I got to thinking about what an opportunity this could be for GC in general to be more relevant in the Greek world. How great would it be to host a Q&A regarding recruitment for the parents of PNMs or PNMs for various councils? Maybe roundtable discussions for officers of House Corporations, maybe roundtable discussions featuring superstar alumni volunteers?

I'm thinking there are some pretty great opportunities here.

I thought for sure I put the correct date in my calendar, but I must have missed it. We've become so dependent on our technology - if an appointment isn't in my phone, it doesn't exist.

The Facebook group said the Zoom was the 19th...so I had that date on my calendar. Not sure if last night's was for something different??

(Like most of us have a LOT more to do these days ANYWAY! This will be a welcome and enjoyable event to look forward to...)

School starts that week and I have classes that day. I'll be there in GC spirit.

The 19th works for me.

To the survey, there were 6 responses.

33% said the best day for them was Tuesday, 50% said Saturday, and 17% said Sunday.

People were 80% interested in a happy hour, so we'll try that.

40% liked start times at 7 Eastern, 60% like 9 Eastern.

4 expressed interest in a recruitment related round table discussion. 3 for house corporation issues, 2 for alumni advisory issues and one was for undergrad issues.

One person expressed an interest in a remote meeting to talk about recruitment resumes.

Kevin, do we need to log in, and where?

I really want to be on, but I want to see Kamala Harris accept—also Gabby Giffords and Barack Obama speak. It starts at 9. Seven pm would be better, but I can CERTAINLY be on for awhile and also have the TV on the den! Multi-tasking...

I'll see if I can drop in later. May be going somewhere.

I've got our event down for 9pm Central. You'd be able to catch the first hour of the DNC. (I've been watching it the past two nights, and whoa! Some great speeches, and I love how they've adapted to the virtual format.)

I won't be able to make it tonight, though. I'll be with y'all in spirit.

I haven’t been on here in a long time (though still an occasional lurker), but I’d love to join the online event if it’s still happening.

Really depends on what time it is happening. My daughter is making an unexpected trip home for a funeral. Tonight is the only time I can see her. No idea how long she’ll be here.

I was planning to attend but after the day I've had.....I don't know that I'll have the energy to stay up that late.

I tried to enter the ZOOM site, and it said: Start at 10 PM? So I guess I was wrong about the time. It’s 9 central, 10 EST.
