In six short weeks, GreekChat will officially be 21 years old! It's thought that we should celebrate!

GreekChat Comes Of Age!
GC's 21st Birthday Celebration
August 19, 2020

We meet across the nation, on Zoom. (Instructions to follow)
Feel free to get together with fellow GCer's and raise a glass!
Nationwide Toast to be held at 10pm - 9pm - 8pm -7pm
Zoom Room will be open one hour prior to the toast.

It's probably best that we pass out invites individually. Probably through PM. If we announce a Zoom meeting in an open forum, I doubt we'll be able to have much of an event.

You might want to post this on the GC Facebook page. Some old-timers get notifications there that no longer post.

It took me roughly a half hour to find GreekChat, instead of a bunch of Greek people who wanted to talk, but I did post. No one seems to have been there since April.

Wait, there’s a facebook page? I am so out of the loop!

I might make an appearance if I can get my hair fixed by then.

I was pondering this and thought: “Do any of us know what anybody else looks like?!” It’ll be wonderful I think, to be able to put a NAME with a FACE!

Wow. I have been reading since justamom's "They're having a blast!" LSU rush thread back in 2001. I can't believe it's been that long. The PNMs from that thread may have daughters in high school now.

That's a frightening thought. Then again, my "baby" was 5 when I joined, and he just turned 24!

I remember posting when my youngest son was born... he is almost 13now

I had a 5-month-old when I joined. He is now a 20-year-old college junior!

I've been more of a lurker in recent years; posting mostly to WDYFLSRN when I do post. BUT! I am in the FB group so I saw that announcement.

I joined GC as a college...sophomore, I think. Would have been around 2005. CRAZY to think that since then I've gotten an M.Ed., left teaching, broke up with Mr. KDR after 6+yrs together, joined an EdTech start-up, bought a house, got laid off, and now started a career in a whole new industry.

2005 feels like a lifetime ago and it kinda was. But, I agree with Kevin and would LOVE an actual invite.

Same here! I joined a couple of months before 9/11.

This is on my calendar for 9pm Central.

Who is hosting? If you have a free Zoom account your call only lasts 40 minutes - but you can sign right back in with the same meeting ID and password and get another 40 minutes. (Things you learn while on lockdown...)

Count me in! I've added several of you to the Facebook group as they've requested in the last few days.

Some questions have been added that you'll need to answer to join the group going forward. Because a lot of people from Greece try to join all the time!

I feel like a newbie. I've only been here 13 years - joined in 2007.

8/20/2003. It's been a couple years...lol. 17! My kids went from kids to adults in that time.

I hope there is room for one more at the table.

For you, there's always room! We need to discuss (along with RR) whether we'll get together to go online, or do it alone.

What's the most important change you've seen over these couple decades?

It had a previous life known as GreekSource. John Hammell (site owner) took ove the site and changed it to GC.

Wowwww! I got a notification about a post in the fb group and didn’t realize GC was still going strong! So awesome to see all the older accounts from when I first joined. I read a few of my old posts and had to stop. I was obnoxious 😒 if there’s ever another zoom night I’d love to join in!
