Indiana University Recruitment 2020
It's that time of year again! Grab some snacks and drinks cause Indiana Recruitment is here!
Schedule January 8th: PNM Orientation January 9th and 10th: Open Invite (PNM can see all 22 chapters) January 11th and 12th: Philanthropy and Service Round (max of 16 chapters) January 17th and 18th: Sisterhood Round (max of 9 chapters) January 19th: Preference Round (max of 2 chapters) January 21st: BID NIGHT!! |
Man, that 9 to 2 always seems like such a steep drop!

With a drop like that, I wonder if a large number of PNMs withdraw right before Prefs.

Does anybody know how many PNMs are registered for 2020 IU recruitment? And how this compares to years past?

as for the # registered that start recruitment, we won't know the start number until Wednesday. We will have grade cuts and those that just decided to not come back early. |
I thought it was about time for IU recruitment. I always look forward to hearing what's happening with the Hoosiers.
|
I was gonna throw this in the OP but here it is
To the PNMs lurking this board, keep and open mind and remember all 2000 recruitment videos you watched in preparation. You'll find your home. To the parents, you will find wise words to give your daughters throughout the coming days, and you're the MVPs of all this To the advisors/alumnae, y'all are rock stars for all the work you're doing for the chapters and you'll have a successful recruitment To the sisters on the other side for the first and last time, you got this. And hopefully for those of you who don't have a little yet you'll find yours!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! |

What reason did IU give for the change at Prefs from max three, down to max two, homes? |
It changed a few years ago. My D went through rush in 2018 and that was the first year they went to 2 for Pref. round. I don't remember the reason but I think it was around the number of people that were placed in either their first or second choices. Not enough fell to the 3rd option. I could be wrong on that but I seem to remember reading something along that line.
Even though rush at IU isn't as bad as it used to be, it is still very stressful more because of that other ranking website and the whole tier system mentality. I know she is heading back to school today to get ready. This will be her last rush since next year she'll be doing her oversea's program. I only know 1 PNM this year but they happen to be a legacy to my D's sorority so I'm watching to see what happens there. |
IU moved to two preferences based on the guidelines set forth by NPC regarding structured recruitment. IU now abides by all of the guidelines including quota, QAs, snap bids, etc. The only thing that IU does not have that most campi have is campus total. So theoretically a sorority that makes quota could still have informal recruitment and take as many women as they want. Not that any group does that, but it is still theoretically possible.

22-16-11-6-2 would be far better.

also, while the PNMs are going to 22 chapters the actives are required to host 24 parties; this way the PNMs get 2 breaks thoughout the two days but the chapters don't. |
There just isn't enough time to have 5 "days" of recruitment. Alabama's is a week long with only 18 groups.
|
Yikes. Mild weather for IU, but with prediction of rain. Pack an umbrella, PMN's!

If anything for those who do go through the recruitment process, its certainly a good life lesson in keeping yourself organized. |

This is where we got the spate of moms and PNMs a couple years ago trying to game the system and like top, middle and bottom chapters like they were at the Kentucky Derby. |

Also, as I say every year, each and every chapter at IU has something of value to offer its members. There are smart, beautiful, outgoing, amazing women in every chapter. I am fairly confident that a PNM can find her people in almost every chapter. I know that I could have been very happy in 5 or 6 chapters and pretty darn happy in at least a dozen or more of the chapters during my time there. Good luck to all of the PNMs, chapter women, chapter advisors and PNM family members out there! May the odds be ever in your favor. |
The IU threads the past few years have been full of happy endings. Hope that continues!

Idk when new chapters were added. In 2017, the last year that tridelts took a pledge class (and was not able to initiate them), there were 3 pref parties. It dropped to 2 the year after. There has been no addition of new chapters during this time, and the only difference in number of chapters would be the loss of DDD in Spring 2017 and Chi O not taking a formal pledge class last Spring.
|
According to the NPC recruitment thread chapters were added in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
But yeah tri delt closing and chi o pulling out of recruitment last year were both really crazy. Chi O did take a class in the fall so their numbers should be fine. |

PS: YES, write the book! I'll buy the first copy!!! |

And considering I survived the transition from complete bed rush to complete NPC recruitment guidelines it could be interesting. I’m just trying to figure out how it’s been 9 years yet I haven’t aged at all. |

Is Chi O allowed to participate this year?

This is the quietest I've ever seen this thread...

My D hasn’t really had much to say either. |
my D is on the other side this year and I haven't heard much at all, other than that she is tired. I hope it all goes smoothly and the PNMs keep their minds open and find their sisters. Tomorrow morning will be their first potential bump in the road when they get their lists back. Hopefully cool heads will prevail, but usually that's when the tears start for some:(
|
I feel like we'll get more action in here once cuts are made.
|
First list this morning-
|
my D says it is pouring there today, and that it making for a little chaos as groups are running late and the lines are getting messed up. She is also under the impression that a lot of girls dropped already. She had no further information about that. I imagine it probably happens every year, she is just more aware of it this year being on the other side.
The two most interesting things she told me so far: A PNM was giving out $100 Bloomingdales gift certificates during first round. Really?? I can't believe that would be allowed. Will have to hear more about that when I actually talk to her. Probably just a crazy rumor. First round she saw a PNM who appeared to be older, turn out she was 30 years old and a blogger wanting to write about sorority life. I doubt many chapters will be interested in that.. |
Don't think there is a Bloomingdale's in Indiana, is there? The things that one hears...LOL
