What a week!
Hi everyone,
My daughter just finished one of the best/hardest/stressful/valuable experiences of her life. She enjoyed every round and had a full schedule for each round this week. She was dropped from houses that surprised her but kept an open mind and positive attitude. There were high highs (full schedules) and low lows (dropped from her legacy house which she knew was not a fit from her. It still stung.) but so happy the week ended/began on a high not. If you couldn't tell from my username, she is beyond thrilled to have received a bid from Kappa Alpha Theta! She fell in love them the moment she walked into the house on Day 1 of Round 1, and I am so happy that they loved her back! Now...what flower should I send her? Every florist I have checked does not carry black and gold pansies. I've seen sunflowers but thought I would check with the experts. I think I'll have the best night sleep of the week! |
Daisies or yellow roses with a black ribbon, maybe?

My D pledged Theta last year and I found a beautiful pillow and some cute stuff online to send. Congratulations to her! I hope she enjoys the experience!

No Theta flower expert, just wanted to say congratulations! And no girl can ever have too much sorority swag!
|
Congrats! I know it must be a huge relief for you and your daughter.
Not a Theta flower expert either, but Etsy has many stores with cute Theta gear - check it out: https://www.etsy.com/search?q=kappa%20alpha%20theta |
My goddaughter joined Theta 2 years ago. Had the same flower situation and asked her what I should send. She said to send Theta swag! Said she’d rather have apparel than flowers that would be gone in a week.
Amazon has many pages of cute Theta items and if you’re a Prime member, lots to choose from with free shipping directly to her campus address. I found several jewelry items in black and gold at www.shoplc.com It’s an auction website, as well as a retail site, where I purchased probably 8 items for about $60! She is well accessorized for chapter dinners! Couldn’t find a “kite” in my search (so that’s why I searched for “black” and “gold”), but if your sorority has a symbol/flower that is trendy in fashion (owl, anchor, angel, dolphin, rose, etc.), you can get nice jewelry pieces at bargain prices. I’ve loaded up on owl jewelry as I give the UCLA chapter President, Recruitment Chair and my Panhellenic Rep. owl jewelry right before Recruitment starts. It can be a good conversation starter. |
CONGRATULATIONS to us , as well as your daughter!! Nope, Thetas don't get flowers. Those real pansies do not travel well :-) I agree with finding black & gold swag for her. Kites are tough to find. YEAH!!!

Thanks everyone
Thanks for all the great advice. I'll for sure check out those links! Lots of swag coming her way. I already purchased matching pillows for her and her roommate who went Zeta.

Kate Spade "Go Fly a Kite" Line
I bought my Theta niece a pair of Kate Spade Kite Earrings with *Citrine* stones a few years ago when she pledged . . . plus there was an adorable Kite purse (but it was VERY small - not to mention $200+ as I remember). Check out eBay as this would now be old stock.

James Avery? All I ever see are turtles, arrows, fleur-de lis and owls....
|
I would put a link up but I am not computer smart just search James Avery kite earrings
|
:: sniff sniff :: the kite earring is a retired JA design. Has not been available for quite a while.
eta: I do see a few pair of the JA kite earrings on Ebay, pretty pricey. |
More of an initiation present than new member gift....

James Avery does have a KAT charm for her charm bracelet, but I'm waiting on initiation for that. Thetalady, those sterling kite earrings are great! I'm sending her those!
Thanks everyone!! |
This could be a great gift idea
