Juanita Bynum Attacked by Husband in Parking Lot

I'm sure alot of you remember T.D. Jakes "no more sheets"! Well anyway, Prophetess Juanita Bynum has gotten married; she spoke at the "no more sheets"conference. I'm very happy for her..her husband is a bishop.

http://www.juanitabynum.com/bboard/viewtopic.php?t=2148

P.S. I didn't realize it........but she's been married for a couple of months..........so this may be old news to some of you.

Gyrl7 10-05-2002 08:33 PM

Sure is news to me. Wow I am happy for her she deserves happiness in her life, especially given the life that she had years ago before and shortly after she received the Lord.

GRITS 05-05-2003 01:24 AM

I just saw the wedding on TBN, and it was the most amazing thing. They have 30 bridesmaids and groomsmen and she looked so beautuiful, I had no idea that she had been married for a few months. Congrats to her and God bless!
:) :D

Misstery 05-05-2003 04:12 PM

I caught a few minutes of her wedding yesterday, it was quite extravagant, to say the least. I still haven't heard/read "No more sheets", is it good?

Misstery...

GRITS 05-05-2003 07:20 PM

Did you see Donald Lawrence and the tri city singers and when she stopped walking down the aisle to praise them? I had the whole dorm in my room watching.:D I have not read the book, but my friends who have, said it was really good!

Mz. Sports Luva 05-05-2003 07:51 PM

I saw the wedding also. I'll have to say that the wedding itself was nice but all the (extracurricular) activities that took place during the ceremony were a bit excessive for me.

However, I am happy for her and I hope that they have a wonderful life.

GRITS 05-05-2003 11:25 PM

LOL at extracurricular!!:) :D ;)

Mz. Sports Luva 05-06-2003 01:23 AM

LOL

You know I'm right. When they started shouting I was too thru.

I did read that they had this wedding for their friends & family (they were already married when this ceremony took place) so maybe that's why it wasn't traditional.

GRITS 05-06-2003 01:31 AM

Did you see the bridesmaid stroll down the aisle with the little kick? That was one of the longest parts. I had no clue they were married already, she was acting as if it was the first time. Who has that many family and friends?:)

Gyrl7 05-06-2003 10:22 AM

Ok, I have to ask this silly question, but does anything think that she might have it on video or dvd just yet??? Or is it just for TBN???

Yeah the kick was a bit much--lol. I guess when you're as popular as she is, you know that many folx. Could you imagine being @ table #250?

Girl7: You may want to check her website to see if they're selling it. I wouldn't be surprised if they were/will.

GRITS 05-07-2003 01:08 AM

I feel bad for the folks sitting in the back, cause they couldn'tsee anything, they probably wanted to take their toaster back home then.;)

loviest95 06-07-2003 07:03 PM

OK I guess I am late because I just saw the tail end of the wedding--but 7.6 karats!!!!!!

When I saw her diamond ring, I was like, "whoa". Now that's what you call a rock!!

They showed part of her wedding a few weeks ago on cable, but cut it off after the first hour. Now I have to figure out a way to see the rest of the matrimonial festivities. :( I wonder what the budget was for the wedding????

GRITS 06-10-2003 04:38 PM

I would've loved to be her wedding planner;) ... that's some money honey!:D

Evangelist Bynum attacked by husband in parking lot

Juanita Bynum, a preacher whose fiery and frank sermons about women's empowerment have won her a national following, was attacked by her husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel early Wednesday morning, police said.

Bynum, whose ministry is based in Waycross, and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, had met up at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to try to reconcile, Atlanta police said.

I am neither shocked nor surprised. I can't even entirely say that I feel bad for her. This is what happens when you do things out of order. Although, ironic it makes national news when something bad happens within the church but rarely when something positive is done.

I agree with you on the media stance. But what do you mean she did things out of order? I think I get it, but please clairfy. :)

From the message boards I've seen, a lot of people are praying for them (and so will I). TMZ also has pics of the injuries.

Mine are too and I thought about that, but since I see her last login date is the same as his -- 8.23.07 -- seems like at least one would be approved by now. **shrug**

It's sad, but a reality that we are all human. I will pray for them as we all have some issues that we're dealing with as Christians -- or as people in general --theirs just came to light.

7thSonofOsiris 08-23-2007 10:46 PM

WoW!

I think that the world has indeed gone crazy. This couple's issue, or their issues, are only the micro, in a macro filled relationship where some issues have probably existed during the relationship's tenure, I'm sure. Most relationships have issues. And unfortunately, something like this has become the near accepted norm...Bishop/Pastor or not. I could care less what might be out of order in regards to their home/their business or whatever, his hands should not have been wrapped around her throat, nor should his fists have been allowed to place bruises on her body. Prayers are indeed being floated.

BlueReign 08-23-2007 11:39 PM

I'm sure he was beating on her way before this incident.

I visited their church when they had one in the area and heard him preach. I was not impressed. I was so sad for her when I heard this. I know she will recover and probably write another book. :)

aideclaire 08-24-2007 12:19 AM

that is too sad to even ponder upon:(

1908Revelations 08-24-2007 05:07 PM

Did any of you listen to Michael Baisden on yesterday? He was talking bout it and talking about preachers, and said that if anyone knew where the man was to call ATLPD. He went on to say that a lot of people e-mailed he ticked off that he was supporting people turn him in.

Now....he may have beaten her before, but I that doesn't warrent this behavior OK, not just because of her being a preacher (him too for that matter). Mike Baisden read a message a person sent him about the 'man hunt' and that person said something to the effect of 'let that man [estranged hubby] live his life?!?!!?:eek: I had no words.

Crazy man, crazy...

A man is catching hell for fighting pitbulls, and he's in the news every 2 or 3 hours. The whole world wants to cut his head off and animal rights activist are picketing the courthouse. Man, they hate a black millionaire don't they?...haters. But a so-called man of God beats his wife(regardless of whom she is), and the world wants to forgive him..........crazy man, crazy!

Interesting article

Bishop told of marital woes

By D. AILEEN DODD
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 08/24/07
The estranged husband of national evangelist Juanita Bynum was facing turmoil in his personal life in the months before he allegedly lashed out and assaulted his successful wife in a hotel parking lot.

Thomas W. Weeks, 40, was evicted from his Duluth home after he and Bynum had separated. And he had a verbal dispute with an employee that turned physical, according to police reports.

Earlier this month during a sermon at the church he and Bynum founded, Global Destiny Church in Duluth, Weeks eluded to marital problems between the two, church members said.

"He was really mean," said Tiny Gilyard, 41, of Lawrenceville, who has attended Global Destiny for a year and witnessed Weeks's sermon. "He explained that (Bynum) is not going to be preaching anymore. He said she was just going to come and sit down....It was like he was jealous of her."

Wow. That's sad.

BlessedOne04 08-25-2007 12:59 AM

This was such a sad story but I also am convinced that this is not the first time this has happened. Violence usually escalades. I hope he gets the punishment he deserves.

I agree with you. There have been incidents of violent behavior between them in the past. My heart goes out to their church members who have had to witness and suffer through this awful drama.

Conskeeted7 08-27-2007 01:18 AM

I think it's so unfortunate that they have to go through this in public. It is difficult to deal with any relationship issues, but to have the public offering their editorials as well cannot make it easier. I just hope and pray that they are seeking the help they need and that they make the necessary decisions for themselves and not for the sake of their public images.

AKA2D '91 08-27-2007 10:20 AM

It's unfortunate that anyone has to go through this...PERIOD!

I heard on TJMS that he supposedly asked his church members (yesterday) to pay for his defense The Raven fund or something about a Raven.  :o

Is it true that JB basically "made" this man popular and that no one really knew of him until she married him?

I heard the same thing this morning. I thought they were saying Raymond Fund, but it could have been Raven too.

I know I never heard of him until he married her, but that's not saying much about me and all of these bishops, elders, apostles, prophets, and prophetesses that are popping up like nail salons owned by Asians.

AKA2D '91 08-27-2007 10:50 AM

Same for me.

At my church, they call them popcorn preachers. :o

I just said this to a friend this weekend! There is no need for the blind to lead the blind...
