Cincy??
Well girls I figured that since you are addicted to rush threads that I would add mine. Recruitment for me starts this sunday and runs through next friday. I was just curious if any other girls out there on greek chat are going through recruitment at The University of Cincinnati this week. Well anyway, good luck to all girls yet to go through recruitment and congrats to those who already have!! Thanks.

Good luck! I know a lot of KDs from Cincy.
Have you checked out the webpages? Here's KD's: http://www.uc-kaydee.com/ And here's their links to other houses' websites: http://www.uc-kaydee.com/Other_Chapters.html Good luck! Can't wait to hear your story! |
And according to the greek life homepage http://www.soa.uc.edu/GreekLife/greek-chapters.html
There's 6 NPC sororities: Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Kappa Gamma Kappa Delta Theta Phi Alpha |
I'm at UC and greek. I'm really excited you are going through recruitment. Good luck and keep us all posted.

Oh good luck and have some fun :D  :D

Thank you ladies so much for all the support!!! I am so excited to get this started already, lol. Sunday seems soooooo far away. I'm going shopping for clothes on thursday and i'm excited about that too :D . I'm going through recruitment this quarter as a sophomore, so I hope that it doesn't hurt me. I also came down with a bad case of mono spring quarter, so I don't have exactly a 4.0, but I have talked to numerous recruitment chairs and rho gammas and none of them seem to think I should be worried, so we'll see what happens. I didn't think I would be this nervous, but we'll just see what happens, whatever is meant to be will be. Thanks again to all you ladies, it means so much to me!!
Love ya, Steph |
Good luck with recruitment! I'm so exciting you are going through where there is a KD chapter!! :D
Our CDC went to Cincy last year on a visit and said that the chapters there were really strong and their Greek life looked like a lot of fun! Keep us updated and have fun!!! |
Good luck during recruitment! Hope you have fun and find the right sisters for you (maybe Kappa Kappa Gamma!!!). Keep us posted.
|
Ladies, I'm starting to get very anxious and nervous about this whole recruitment thing. I have been reading all these posts about there being screw ups and I'm worried that that is going to happen to me :(. Maybe I just worry too much, but as if that wasn't enough I just got a call from the Panhellenic at UC and the girl *she was sooo nice about it though* said that they can't find my registration. So things are already getting messed up with me, lol. I just hope things get straightened out and I have an awesome time! Thank you ladies for all the support!!
Steph |
Well, there you go - that was it - the one mistake with you for all of recruitment! :D
Relax and have fun! If I had one regret about recruitment when I went through, it would be having been all nervous and uptight. Even though everything worked out great, I wished I could have enjoyed it more! Take care and good luck! |
Good Luck!
|
Sit back, breath deep and hold on. Recruitment can be stressful and tiring, but it should also be a whole lot of fun. It is a chance to not only find a sorority, but to meet women from your school that you might never of met before. Some great friendships can be made during rush, even if you don''t join their house.
Good luck and have lots of fun!! Greek love, Melissa |
Well girls it's me again :D . Recruitment starts tomorrow and I am so excited, but really really nervous at the same time. I still have no idea what i'm going to wear tomorrow and I guess not knowing what to expect is kind of stressing me out. I have no idea how many PNM's there are going to be, but I did hear somewhere that only about 3-4 percent of UC is actually greek, so I don't know what that actually means for me, but oh well. Sorry, I tend to ramble sometimes on here. If you girls have any tips or suggestions they would be much appreciated!! Love ya!!
Steph |
Good luck girl and keep us posted!! :D
|
Good luck! :D
|
Best of Luck, Steph! :)

Good luck!!!! I'm from Cincinnati so I know women in KD, Kappa, and Chi-O. They are all wonderful organizations! Keep us posted!

Ok ladies, here goes. I just got back from visiting all 6 houses and I am soooo tired. If I make mistakes typing this up, i'm so sorry. Anyway, I had a ton of fun today, but i'm so worried that the fact that i'm a sophomore and i got sick spring quarter is going to affect me a ton. A little less than 200 girls are going through recruitment and The six sororities at UC are Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta, Chi Omega, Theta Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Delta Delta Delta and we visited them all today *but not in that order*. Here goes:
House #1- I Not many girls from my recriutment group liked this house, but all the girls were super sweet to me and I just felt like I totally clicked with all the girls I talked to. Today was philanthropy day, so we made bookmarks and cards to send to the children's hospital *every chapter had to do the same philantrophy, so yes I made 6 identical bookmarks, lol* I never had a dull moment in the conversation either, but again I'm just worried about grades. House #2- This will probably be the house that I drop. One girl rushed me the entire time, and honestly I feel like I was rushing her more than she was me. She seemed very disinterested and was looking off into space. I asked her if we could get up and walk around since we were outside and it was kinda chilly and she said that we had to sit there and wait for the next girl to get me, but she never did!! I just didn't feel like I would really fit in there. House #3- I really liked this house too. A few girls that I went to high school with are in this house. And the girls that I talked to were so awesome. I felt very comfortable just being myself. I was being double rushed *which I hated* for a few minutes, but then a girl came to take me away*thank god* and things just went uphill from there. House #4- This is my favorite house. I talked to a ton of different girls and they all seemed so sweet and nice and I totally enjoyed talking to all of them. I had e-mailed this houses recruitment chair about 2 or 3 months ago with questions because of this whole mono thing and she remembered me, hunted me down to say hi and meet me, and even told her girls how enthusiastic Iwas about rush. That's just definitely somewhere I feel totally comfortable. House #5- I felt kind of out of place walking into this sorority. But the first girl I talked to was a total sweetheart and we had a lot in common, but then they switched and the girl I got was like literally falling asleep, which of course I took as a bad sign because she was bored, but it turns out that she didn't sleep at all last night and has been fighting to stay awake all day. I guess I would have to go back another night to see if I feel comfortable or not there. and finally House #6- I felt so welcome walking into this house, it seems like half of the house is composed of people that went to my high school and even girls I had never seen before in my life knew who I was. I talked to seriously about 20 sisters, which was awesome. But I had the same problem as the previous house, my last girl was so tired. Apparently these girls hadn't eaten all day and we're so worn out because it was their last party, but oh well, all in all I feel good about this house. So there you have it, Day 1 of my recruitment experience. I had an awesome time, and hopefully I can continue on. Wish me luck!! And thank you ladies so much for all the support!! |
Sounds like your first day went off well. I am glad you are enjoying yourself and meeting new people. As for the grades issue, if you really like a house, make sure you tell them about being sick last year and mention what you are doing this year to pull up your GPA ( extra studying, tutors, retaking classes) This way, the sisters know not only what happened, but see what you are doing to fix the problem.
Good luck with the rest of the parties, Have fun, and keep us posted. Greek love, melissa |
It's great that you're keeping an open mind despite what others in your group think (re: house #1). Thinking back to my rush days I am glad that I went into it as a freshman before school started so that I didn't have the campus "reputations" to sway me. I also didn't know very many girls in my rush group to sway me either. Go with your gut feelings!!! I also remember vividly going through one house where I thought the girl was bored stiff. That is so uncomfortable and boring for you!
Good luck and rest up, the best is yet to come! Rachel |
Good luck with RUSH. Sounds like your first day went well and that you know the order of the houses you liked. Being a sophomore won't hurt you - I am a sophomore who just pledged and like 4 other girls in my pledge class alone are too. So don't worry about that! Keep us updated as we love these rush stories. Sounds like you a wonderful girl for any sorority!:)

Ok well I'm about to walk out the door now, but just a quick update, I met with my rho gamma this morning and it turns out that I got dropped from 3 houses. I'm pretty upset, but honestly it's what I expected being a sophomore and the whole mono/grades thing. But what surprised me were the houses that kept me. House 4 *which i'm soooo happy about*, house 2 *which confused the hell out of me*, and house 5. Tonight is house tour night, so wish me luck!! Love ya,
Steph |
Good luck Steph!
So are you not going to give us any house names until the end? If you don't want to, that's more than okay, just curious! |
Good luck Steph! As someone wisely said in another thread, try not to focus at all on the disappointment and instead focus on the houses you're going to tonight and have fun!!!
It's all going to turn out great for you!!! Hang in there! Rachel |
Steph,
Goof luck tonight. Enjoy yourself and continue to keep a good perspective on things. I hope you end up where you are supposed to be. Greek love, Melissa |
Good Luck, Steph! :)

Good Luck!
Good Luck! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Good luck!

sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Last night was incredibly awesome and I had so much fun!!! All of the sororities have pulled even in my eyes and I love them all so much!! I found out where I got invites back, and unfortunatly i'm only going back to two, house 2 and house 4. My rho gamma told me not to take it personally that I was cut from house 5 last night, because they have some sort of problem with nationals right now and can't take ANYONE freshman, sophomore, junior, whatever that doesn't have at least a 3.0. I was really dissappointed at first, but I'm just excited to go back to the two that I am. We have tonight off, which I wish we didn't, because I'm going to go insane with anticipation, and tomorrow is skit night *I can't wait!!!*.
When my rho gamma told me I was cut, I got pretty upset and even considered dropping rush because I figured that I have no shot at any house now. But she is the sweetest person in the whole world and told me that they wouldn't keep me unless they are really interested. Is this true though, because I know that some sororities keep an insane amount of girls throughout the rounds knowing that they aren't going to have nearly enough spots come bid day. Oh well, I just have a lot on my mind. Thank you ladies so much!! Love ya!! Steph |
Isn't the waiting unbearable?!? Sounds like your spirits are up and your attitude is good. I'm glad you're giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. Most of the time, it's nothing personal--they are functioning on so little sleep. You must have made a good impression since #2 keeps inviting you back and #4 was one of your favorites from the beginning.
Don't worry about not being invited back to everyone--you can only pledge one anyway!!! The best sorority is the one you're in, so don't worry about anything but finding the group you feel most comfortable with and can be most proud of. |
I am anxiously awaiting your reply....!!! I knew several Alpha Chi's back in the day, and recently learned they are no longer on UC's campus. That is really sad. On a brighter note, I had several friends in KD and Kappa and Theta. (THis was back in 1992) I worked with an ADPi...from UC... but that chapter is long gone. :( I hope things are working out to your advantage:)
|
Steph, I hope everything is going well! Update, please!
|
well girls, I am sooooo sorry that it has taken so long for a reply from me. I have been incredibly busy with going through rush and keeping up with school and work, it's just been hard to get online. Anyway, I won't go back and give all the details, but bid day was yesterday and I couldn't be happier!!! I got my first choice and am now a....................
