Long Drive Thru Waits
 

Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else... waiting half an hour in a drive thru line?!?!?? Tonight at 2:30 I pulled up to the big boy drive thru and had to wait 30 minutes because there was only one lady working there and so many people. She had to cook and cashier tonight since her cook didnt show up. That's insane, I would have said I'm closed tonight. So has anyone else ever been to a drive thru and waited that long or had only one person working?

Yeah I hate long lines. MLS is fake soccer.

Awww, I feel so sorry for that lady! :( I would have hired a homeless man for the mean time and paid him with beer. :D J/K

Wow, in that case I feel sorry for the lady, not the people waiting in the line. But in general, when I'm stuck in the drive through and I see people just standing around inside, I get ticked.

If a drive through line has more than 2 cars in it I usually just park the car and walk in.

The same thing happened to me this weekend. I was waiting on line with some sisters at Taco Bell after going out and we waited for years. Well, not really but it was a long damn time.

Eventually we just pulled out of that line and drove down the strip to Burger King instead. It was all good to me, though. I got to have a low fat chilli and I was so stoked.

The burger joint around here. Affectionately called "Waitaburger" because there is nothing fast about that food. Yeah its good, but I have the one by my house on my cell, so I'll just call in soemthing if I am really in the mood. Even inside they give you this little plastic thingy and make you wait.

Side note to SATX*APhi. Dont even get started with the Whataburger stuff. I know you from Corpus, and yes I have seen and eaten at the two story Whataburger on Shoreline. Its very nice, your welcome very much. j/k (Every kid I know from Corpus bust up with the "Two story Whataburger" bit every time I mention Whataburger around them. I actually ate there last time I was in that part of CC downtown, just to say I had done it.) Much love gal. ;)

I hear ya on the Whataburger wait! And to top it off, it's damn expensive food too! I've eaten sit down dinner less than what my ex fiancee and I paid for drive through...then again he always ordered a CRAP load of food.

Ha! I wouldn't have brought it up. ;) I would have brought up that Whataburger was founded here in Corpus. :D Whataburger is sooo good! The Whataburger near my house, though, had a two year streak of always messing up orders. They are doing much better now!

Don't feel bad. We don't have any of the first three here in Corpus either. There was another one I read about here on GC. They make some sort of subs or something like that.

Drive thru's are supposed to be for people on the go and in a hurry. I don't think that you should be able to make a purchase over a certain amount of money at a drive though.

My ex-boss was waiting in a drive thru line at Taco Bell one night for about a half hour around 3am. She was so pissed off that when she got up there she told them that she was ordering ONE of EVERYTHING on the menu. The night manager was pissed off...

She ended up dropping off most of the food off to those of us who were working third shift. :) Thanks Pam! :)

The times I've been made to wait for my food in a drive-thru was because they were making new fries...And I've had to wait because I already paid! There should be a "Fries Now Cooking" sign put out by the drive thru so I have the option of stopping or not! Like when Krispy Kreme puts that "Fresh Hot Donuts" sign on!

It was common for us to have to wait in line at Taco Bell for at least a half hour when we go late at night. Living in a college town, all the drunk kids get the late-night-munchies!

Don't worry... Foster's Freeze is not nearly as good as Dairy Queen, in my opinion anyway.

Our Taco Bell is open until 4am and it's in a very high traffic area (near three colleges and three hospitals). Usually you can get through it pretty quickly....trainee's should not be working in the drive thru window until they have been properly trained!

I didn't have time to go home for lunch Monday so I decided to run through the drive through of the closest restaurant to my office, Steak n'Shake. Ordinarily they are a little slow, but this time I had to wait 23 minutes! (I was counting b/c I was in such a hurry to get back.) When I pulled up there were only two cars in front of me too, and they had already placed their orders. And, when they got their orders it was just one small bag each.

I learned my lesson though! I will never go there for lunch again.

We got our first Krispy Kreme yesterday. A few observations:

1) Fools stood in line for 6 hours for a donut. A DONUT.
2) The standing for 6 hours was probably the most excercise those people have had in a while.
3) If I am standing in line for 6 hours for food, I better either be in the former Soviet Union for bread, or getting sex when I get to the front of the line.
4) Peeps were in line at 1 am. I would assume that SOME of them had kids they needed to be home with. Maybe mom was watching the kids while dad was at KK getting donuts for the next morning. One day I'll have kids. I wont love them that much.
5) One KK donut has 210 calories and 11grams of fat. Peeps be talking about how they had the whole dozen. I think KK needs to open a cardiology office next door.


Yes, I have had them. They were good. I was hammered at the time, so i think I remember them as good. Regardless, it wasnt as good as sex or payday.

BTW - DeltaSigStan, Whataburger is the BOMB. Good shit. The ketchup is what makes the fries and the best veggies on the burger. Lots o onions and lettuce. Hells yeah.

When i picked my little brother up from school, he was telling me about how this girl in his class loves whataburger fries with gravy! Therefore, my brother wanted me to take him there as an after school snack.

I didnt take him because he is getting into a bad habit of me buying him fast food everyday i pick him up at school. Thats a different story though. However- all this talk about whataburger is making me want to go get some right now!! Maybe ill go on friday with him! ;)

Okay, they have the Krispy Kreme obsession going on in my neck o' the woods too... and while I think it is disgusting that people would spend so much time in line for them, or eating so freaking many of them, I have to admit they are SO good! And not too bad for you if you only eat one as an OCCASIONAL treat (way less calories and fat than a Cinnabon)!

I hated donuts my whole life until I was exposed to Krispy Kreme!
