MTV True Life: I'm a Cheerleader
 

Does anyone know if any of the graduating seniors of the cheerleading sqaud that the MTV show highlighted went through rush this fall. And if so, what sororities they are in? I am really curious to know.

One of the girls from True Life came through at my school, she was actually the one that they focused on. She was the most rude person at any of our rush parties and was dropped after the first round. She found out the sister talking to her sings and hollered at all of her friends to come over. I mean I was sitting with a guest and suddenly I hear a girl screaming from all the way across the room "JENNIFER COME HERE NOW!"
she sat there and told me sister if she didn't sing to her right then she was leaving. My sister was so mortified. She was put on the spot and the girl that she hollered for left the sister she was talking to. Then she announced to everyone that if they recognized her it is because she is a celebrity from MTV. Then she had the nerve to ask her Rho Chi why we dropped her because didn't everyone want someone as popular as she was....

I am appalled at her behavior! I would hope that she would have more class than that. I am sorry you had to go through that! I really am.

Wow, I cant believe the nerve of her! Sounds like she had a case of "big headed ego" I just really hope that she was a lot different when she went through at AOII, and I am sure my sisters saw something wonderful in her that just didnt shine through at the other houses. That still just blows my mind though.

If the gal you're talking about is the gal I'm thinking about, then I think it's Amanda, the captain of the squad. If I remember correctly, she really wanted to go to the University of Nebraska, but decided to attend WKU. She was the one with the little sister on the squad who got hurt, right? She was so intent on continuing to cheer..I wonder what happened to her. She didn't seem like much of a pain on TV..but I guess things can change over a period of time. "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! I WAS ON MTV!" :eek:

FYI: I'm not an MTV freak. They played it over and over again late at night and for some reason I remember that episode from start to finish.

I don't remember her name she just kept saying, "You know, I am from MTV" and I thought "You know if you keep being this rude to my sisters I am going to ask you to leave". I was Recruitment this semester so for me to have to watch a sister endure a guest like that killed me. It may have been Amanda.
AOPI Angel, I am sure she must have been nice to some groups, surely she couldn't have acted like that to EVERYONE! But her Rho Chi told us later on who ever gets her is going to have MAJOR Standards issues! During rush she was shaking at Fraternity houses and going around to all the freshman guys telling them about how she was on MTV and if they wanted to see it to come to her place. I mean I am sure this girl is just young an immature but please, your fifteen minutes of fame are over.
FYI Her Rho Chi said everytime someone dropped her she would immediately call her friends over and tell them who DARED to drop her so she made all her friends drop them too.
Talk about a handful.

Oh my, I feel for my sisters!! But I am sure that its just from youn and not knowing about how to be a lady in college. Hopefully my sisters can take her and help her develop into a mature quieter sister!! LOL, hopefully!!!

Maybe her parents did not bring her up to be that way!

And then show it to her in about 10 years, so she can cringe at the impetuousness of her youth.

The only videotape we need is the one of her on MTV. I found her to be obnoxious and overbearing. Obviously, so did many of the GLOs at WKU. I hope that everything works at AOII and that maybe they can put some sense into her.

Just remember guys, some of us were really obnoxious freshmen. Maybe she will shape up. Isn't that what a GLO is for?

She was pretty Obnoxious on the MTV show. Hopefully her new sisters can help her mature and learn that she is no longer in high school and people really DON'T care that she was on TV. It's over and she needs to realize that.

I remember watching that show at my friend Bonnie's house and was HORRIFED when this one "character" ended up going to University of Florida. She was the one that quit the squad after hurting herself and alienating everyone by tattling about some of the girls bringing alcohol to camp. I just thought she sucked so huge. Well, go figure, she went greek and is now an AOPi here. I actually got the chance to talk to her, but didn't let on that i recognized her from MTV. She didn't mention anything about it either. She was friendlier than I anticipated, although still very reserved, and I got a decidedly insecure vibe from her. I think they made her look so terrible on that show, things have probably been tough for her.

I talked to my friend that is an AOPi here and she said that she was shocked and appalled when she found out what their new member had done during rush (their rho chis had told them!) and we were talking. She said that she thought she was fine, that she hadn't been rude to her sisters but that she did bring up the MTV thing a few too many times. She said she hopes that no one reacting to it here will help because her sisters dont really care about it. I was really glad to hear that. That may be what she needs, a group of girls that brings her down to earth! That is really weird that both of them ended up AOPi.

I saw the show today & remembered the thread :) The girl who went to Florida & quit the squad- why was she sick? I didn't see the whole show.
How weird that they both ended up AOPi, I got the feeling that they didn't get along. I wonder what happened when they ran into each other over winter break & realized they're sisters...

I just watched the show and looked for this thread to see who we were talking about. Which girls went to the same school? I saw one went to Florida after she quit the squad-did she rush?

If I am not mistaken, the blonde girl who quit the squad (was her name Kim?) went to Florida and I guess from the previous posts she pledged AOPi.

The captain of the squad who wanted to go the U of Nebraska but ended up at U of Kentucky also pledged AOPi.

Any one else know of the other girls if they rushed and what school they went to?

The captain of the squad, Amanda, went through rush at Western Kentucky and pledged AOPi. She didn't go to the University of Nebraska. She isn't on the squad here either. I don't know about the Kim girl.

My sister goes to UF and, she has confirmed that the girl that went there did go AOII. I just now remember her telling me that the last time she was visiting.

funny, i just watched a re-run of the show today, and was wondering about the thread. I wonder how they feel about being sisters now, since they didn't really seem too friendly.

I saw the re-run yesterday too. I was totally thinking about this thread too and trying to remember who went where and what they rushed.

Was this one about the high school team that was going to the Nationals in Florida that ESPN shows? Dunbar HS? (yes I watch the cheerleading championships, it can sometimes be fun ). Also they were at a hotel and went swimming and talked to some guys who were there? Think I saw it and no offense , a majority of them were annoying. I felt sorry for the one who never got to cheer and the others thought she sucked.

Yes, you are exactly correct. I don't watch MTV on purpose anymore but when it aired a few months ago, I tried to catch it. I wished I had known it reaired recently.

I think it was a neat program. I was a cheerleader in high school but never competed so I guess I was intrigued.

I really didn't think anyone was very annoying but can't believe they acted so rudely during rush.

However, the cheerleading camp girl was horrifying! I mean, can anyone really be that way on a day to day basis? That scene was worth watching the entire show for!

kimmy, what cheer camp girl? are you talking about one of the girls on the squad, or one of the instructors?
I was a cheerleader in hs too, and the instructors at camp were all waaaay too peppy/excited/energetic. Especially at like, 7 a.m. But I guess thats part of the job :)

i have a colleague who works all three cheerleading squads..
god love her.
and she has to smash egoes before they go out of control. and this is at the high school level.
cheerleading, if not properly controlled, can get weird real quickly.
don't get mad. i respect the entity. but i could no more do a correct bambi than fly to the moon.

lol, I am a cheer coach, and if any of my girls EVER acted like that-so off the team. I have cheered for years, and never would have thought of acting that way!!

Not that this is an excuse, because I would have told her to get her celebrity a$$ out of my house if a rushee acted that way, but you can hardly blame these people who get put on reality shows anymore. Nowadays, you can become a celebrity just for BEING a celebrity. Look at the Survivor people.....Colleen Haskell with her Chapstick ads and her Rob Schneider movie, Rich with his magazine column, and annoying whats-her-name who is now an MTV personality. If the industry would just back off a little, these people wouldn't get such big heads. :rolleyes:

By the way, not EVERYONE acts that way. My best friend went to Northwestern for her undergrad, where she was a tri-delt. One of her sisters and closest friends was Jennifer Crystal.....that's right, as in Billy Crystal. And Jennifer is now a full-fledged tv star. Kimberly Williams, who was in the Father of the Bride movies was an Alpha Phi there, and from what Julie told me she was very nice. Cindy Crawford's sister went there (as did Cindy) and even the Doogie Howser guy. There were others but I can't remember them right now.

i am watching right now for like the 10th time.

One of the girls who was on that squad (and is shown quite a few times on the show) joined my chapter last year. We didn't even know until after we gave her a bid! :D She's really nice and hasn't let fame go to her head.

She's never named on the show, but on the bus ride back she's shown in the row behind the girls talking (and you can hear her!). You also see her a lot at practices and group shots, she's not highlighted. I'd prefer not to give her last name on her but her first name is Moriah.

Yeah, she's the one singing the "Eight is Great" song. LOL

They also show her after tryouts when the girls are crowded around the list of who made it. They briefly show her talking with a new member.

She was a base so you can spot her there. You can usually see in her the background. Yeah Moriah. :)

It was originally questioning who on the squad went through rush. I think the original author figured it would take a different turn than it did. ;)
