Hey guys! I posted already about my rush in the Greek Life forum, but a couple people told me to post it here instead, so here goes! My rush starts October 3rd through October 6th. I have my Rush Information Meeting tommorrow at six thirty. I'm so excited! My school is really small, so my rush probably won't be as exciting as most. The two sororities at my school are Phi Sigma Sigma and Gamma Phi Beta. I never thought I would rush a sorority and now I'm so excited to part of the Greek System. Thanks to all you guys for showing the positive side of Greek life. I'll keep you all posted! Wish me luck!:p

Of course your rush will be every bit as exciting as every other rush!!! I can't wait to hear all about it, so please don't spare us a single detail. Good luck and have fun!!

Hey girlies!! My rush information meeting is tonite at seven! Rush is pretty informal here, so i'm gonna wear nice jeans, a stretchy black top and black boots. I'm so excited to meet my rush group and I can't wait to find out what events lay ahead for me!!

Did you go to school in Bakersfield? I have a lot of friends and some family that went to school up there, even though I can't remember what schools each one is from! I'd wonder if you'd know any of them though?!

Hey ladies! I had my rush infomation meeting tonite. Everything went pretty well. There were about 25-30 girls there. The only bad thing, was that pretty much every girl there came with a friend, so they all just talked to each other and not everyone else. Another odd thing was that most of the girls were juniors or seniors. I think it actually has to do with Sorority Life, you know? The girls saw that show and now they wanna rush. Hopefully, all the PNMs are nice though and we have agood time. Here's my schedule:
THursday - Social Events with both sororities
Friday - Social Events with both sororities
Saturday - Social Events with both sororities, but a little more formal than the other two days
Sunday - Preference Night, by invitation only. (we'll get our invites by noon sunday) Then we sign our bid cardsat 9:00pm
Monday - Bid Day, we pck up our bids between 8:30 and noon.
I'm excited!!! I'll write you all after the first nite of bids!!

I didn't have a formal rush at all, I just rushed Gamma Phi Beta and that was it. I hope you find it to be as awesome as I did, but if not, I know you'll find a great home!

Good luck with recruitment! This is one case in life where size doesn't matter, and you are going to have a wonderful time! Your outfit sounded really cute for info night. Have you thought about what you'll be wearing for the others? (I *love* hearing about clothes! :) )

Was there someone last year who went through at this same school and posted? Just curious because GPhiB & Phi Sigma Sigma as the only houses together sounded familiar.......

Oh my goodness! I am stressing out because i'm having problems with my work schedule getting in the way with rush, but i think it will work out. Hopefully! For those of you who care about clothes, the rush here is pretty informal, so first nite of socials i'm going to wear cute jeans with a maroon long sleeved top with slit open arms and ties on the botton and black boots. friday nite, we have socials again and i'm gonna wear hip hugger jeans and a nice collared striped shirt, (it's cute, it's hard to explain), with only a couple bttons buttoned and a white tank to underneath and some tan boots, saturday we have a little dressier socials so i'm going to wea a jean knee length skirt, a purple see through lacy shirt with a white tank underneath and purple sandals, than sunday is preference nite that is supposed to be dressy so i'm gonna wear a light blue strappy dress ith flowers on it and white sandals. i'm excited!

Good heavens! White shoes after Labor Day! :eek: <faints>

Well, it wouldn't fly in the South, but they're more relaxed other places ... I know people who have never even heard of that rule!

I'm giving you a hard time, but your outfits sound cute. And I have noticed that the PNMs who wear something other than black to pref really do stand out.

So how was the first day of recruitment?

First Day of Rush!!
 

OK, so my day started out so badly! I woke up this morning and went outside and my car had been broken into! They bashed in my window and stold my cd player and like 100 cds. I was so upset! But the day got wayyy better when i got to campus today and had my first day of recruitment! Here's how it went:


The first group we went to was so nice! They were all singing when we went in and after they finished their song, they broke up and one each came to talk to us. The girl i talked to was really nice and really positive about here sorority. THey had the room all decorated with their flower and had boards describing each aspect of their sorority. I talked to the one girl most of the time, but lots of other girls came and surrounded me, so that was cool. The girls there were all so peppy and nice. It was a reall good way to start the nite!!

The second group was soo fun too! We walked in and all the girls were stading in a line and totally silent, it was kind of scary at first, but after we got all in, they started singing, and theirsong was socute! their theme was _____ in the fifties. The first song was a take off on Oh mister sandman. It was cute. Then, one girl each took us off to tables and gave us icecream. It was supposed to be like a fifties diner, it was cool. We allhad really good conversations and it flowed really well. This sorority is my first choice, I loved it here!

I can't go to the evnts Friday nite because work wouldn't let me off. I'll go back on Saturday and I can't wait!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your car, but I'm glad that your evening went so well!

Okay ValleyGirl, I know you couldn't go to Fridays event because of work. Were you able to attend Saturday's events though. How did that go?

Fuzzie, you're right, wouldn't fly in the south probably, but here in California... it's all good.. besides the fact that we're having indian summer and it's been 90 for about the past week !!! Even here in Northern California so I KNOW it's hot down south where Valley girl is !!!

Ok, i have had so much stuff going on this week, i haven't been a good little writer here. Sorry! I'm gonna keep you all in suspense though, so here goes:

Saturday was really fun! We all split into our groups again and went to socials at both sororities.
The first group's theme was ______ at the pyramids. They were all dressed up in togas and stuff, it was really cute. we all stood around and talked and then they made s all get in a circle and hold our cups that they had given us. on the botton of each cup was either a triangle, square, or circle. If you had a triangle, you said who was our idol, if you had a square you said something unique about yourself, and if you had a circle, you said your best quality. It was cool, you got to learn about everyone. I still really like this group, i just don't know if i ould feel at home here.
The second group's them was ____ in Hollywood. The room was decorated in stars and they all had badges on that showed which star they were representing. This house definately has the best decorations. They go all out! We all sat at tables and talked and had candies and drinks. THen each table hadto play charades acting out a movie so everyone could guess. We acted out So I Married An Axe Murderer and no one could guess it, so we won the oscar. It was really fun. I realy like these girls and am pretty sure this is where i will end up.
Tommorrow is preference! I go pick up my invites, if i get any, tommorrow morning. Of course, this week is over, but i'm not telling you how it ends!!!!!!!!!!

oooh!! good luck, can't wait to hear how it ends! it sounds like both of the groups you went to had some unique and fun ideas.

ok girls, i'm gonna be nice and update you all instead of keeping you in suspense! Sunday nite was Preference nite. I went to pick up my invites Sunday morning and i was invited back to both so that was nice. The nites were over all sooo nice and I wasreally impressed with the serious side of Greek life.



The first group was decorated sooo nice. THey had candles everywhere. It was so pretty. They called out each of our names which was cool to feel like part of the group. They had really goo haugendaz cake too! The girls all did their speeches and readthings. It was really emotioal. Lots of the girls cried, it was hard not to cry too! They gave us all little cards too. Overall, it was really nice. This is a really great group, they are very diverse which is really nice.

The second group was really formal and pretty. When you walked up the sidewalk to their room,there were candles everywhere. The girls all dressed in black with pearls and greeted us when we came in. They then called out each of us and one by one took us to sign in and then sit at a table. The tables were decorated beautifully too. They gave us my favorite dessert too! Cheesecake with chocolate sauce squiggles on it and chocolate covered strawberry. They all talked to us about their favorite moments and every once in a while they wouldget up and read special things. It was really sweet. At the end, we all got in a circle and lit candles one by one while they sang. They then told us to blow them out and make a wish. It was really nice. THese girls are so sweet.


After the last party, we went and signed our bid cards......The next day, we get to find out who picked us. So exciting!!!

Aah I know which group is which by the pref ceremony so I cannot wait to find out where you went! I'd love to call you a sister but I know either place would be a great home for you!

Monday i had to work at nine thirt so i got up way early and went to the student activitities office to pick up my bid card. I got the sorority i wanted and i was sooo happy! I was the only girl in the office right then who got into that sorority, it was crazy. So, bid day activities were that day at noon, so i lied to my work and i got a hour long lunch. bad, i know. so i went to campus and did all of the fun activities and got goodies and spent a whole hour with my new sisters. it was so fun and i'm so happy that i got in!!! oh yeah...... I'm now a................................................. .........
