GiantsChic's (3rd) rush
 

ok, as most of you may know, I rushed last fall and it didn't work out... i was really sad and all, but decided to go through again in the spring... I was so excited about it and felt so confident, but again- it didn't work out... I thought that would be the last of it, but I decided to give it one last try this fall... I know how much you all love rush threads, and i promise to post more about the details later, but i just didn't want to have to write another thread about my rush- only to be dissapointed... but luckily, that didn't happen this time!! I had a great time going through recruitment this time (all last week, last nite was prefs)... i was cut somewhat heavily, but that was fine by me because i was still invited back to one house that I LOVED!... and today was bid day and I am soooo happy to say that I am now a proud new member of..........


























Kappa Delta!!

I have loved this house from the beginning of last year and am so happy to finally have found my home... once again I'll post details later, but I'm just so excited right now! thanks for all of your support over the past year :)

Congratulations darlin! I'm so glad you decided to give it another try -- other girls would have given up. You are an incredibly strong woman, and I'm so happy that you've found a home in Kappa Delta.

thanks you guys sooo much- I really don't think I would have rushed a 3rd time (or 2nd for that matter) if I hadn't gotten so much great advice from all of you- I will post more details later (taking a quick break between classes)... thanks again!!

Hi guys! I know I promised to post details about my rush experience, and I'm sooo sorry it's taken so long... but here you go... I know it's not the same as posting during rush, but here's the main idea :)

Well, during the first round i had a great time- mainly because I had a whole new attitude... i was sooo determined to have a good time this time around... (last year i had a horrible time, didn't even buy my rush group photo)... I had fun at most of the houses, although it was a little difficult at some. Here are the house impression I got (but remember, I've been through recruitment twice before, so already knew a lot about the houses)...
House #1: This house was nice, and was considered one of the "elite" houses... The girls were really sweet, but I didn't quite click with them as a whole... also, we had to sit on the floor during this round and my foot fell asleep- actually my whole leg fell asleep... i must have made a not-so-good impression because i was too worried thinking about how i was going to stand up with a numb foot :)
House #2: This house is very cool, very sweet girls... i didn't get the impression that they were too interested in me... although i did not end up in this house, one of my really good friends did and i'm sooo happy for her
House #3: Kappa Delta- enough said? lol, if you've read my old posts you'll know that i've always loved these girls and feel so at home with them (they've been my first choice since last fall) :)
House #4: : I love this house- they are awesome girls... very sweet, down to earth, and just all around a good house
House #5: This house is cool, also known for having a good image... didn't really feel at home here, although the girls were very nice
House #6: Hmm... interesting house.. my suitemate from last year is in this house... unfortunately she was not a nice person, and unfortunately her sisters weren't able to change my impression about the house, although I’m sure there are great girls in this house
House #7: this is the house that i preffed last fall and did not put down on my preference card... i went in w/ a much more open mind this year and really had a good time- very sweet girls...
House #8: Nice girls, a little intimidating, but overall a great house... i didn't really feel like i fit in here
House #9: Sweet girls, but didn't seem too interested... they seemed to be trying to give off an impression that was not true to who they are... they also rushed us 4 PNM per active

So there's my house by house break down... now remember that this all happened a few weeks ago, so my next post will be about the next round... i'm not gonna make you guys wait hours/days to read the next round, but if you want it to be more exciting- feel free to wait a few days or hours to read it, lol :)

Round 2
 

For round 2 (skit day) I was invited back to House #'s 3 (KD), 4, 5, 7, and 9... it's funny because last fall i was only cut by 3 houses and i was devestated... this year i was cut by 4 and was thrilled with the houses i was going back to :)

I was very happy with #3 (KD)... had a great time, got to meet more girls in the house, and loved their skit... was a little worried because I was paired up with the girl I had last spring, and I don't think i made a good impression last semester (but I guess i did this time, lol)

I was very happy to be invited back to house #4... they are awesome girls, and had a very cute skit... i was cut by this house after the first round last fall... knew a few girls in the house... i really liked it here, but had a feeling i might be cut for the next round

House #5: I was very surpirsed to be invited back here- i was also cut by them after the 1st round last year- they're known as being very selective

House #7: I was happy to be invited back here although it was still a little awkward... i was able to talk w/ the girl who preffed me last fall and i was sooo happy to see her- she's such a sweetheart :)

House #9: Still not the house for me, but i had a good time... the girls were very sweet, but i still got the impression they were trying to be something they weren't

Overall had a fun time, really got to know girls in my rush group, and by the way- i totally loved my rho chi! she was such a sweetheart.

Round 3
 

For round 3 I was a little disspointed, but not surprised... I was invited back to house #'s 3 (KD), 7, and 9... I was determined to have a great time and I did :)

House #3 (KD): Today was house tours- I had seen the house many times before (have a few friends who live in)... I still had a great time, and got to meet even more girls- i met one girl who i totally love- we have so much in common and she's such a sweetie :)

House #7: had a great time, met a few more girls- had some really good fruit juice, lol :) (we had juice at other houses too, their's was just really good, lol)

House #9: Sweet girls, had fun touring the house, but still didn't click with them- unfortunately didn't get to see their "real personality" (remember, I've rushed before and been on campus for a year- i have seen them be themselves before, just not during recruitment this year :( ).

Overall had a great time, but I was getting exhausted from recruitment... it's a lot of things to do and people to meet in such a short amount of time... i was ready to just go home and hang out w/ my friends by the end of the day, lol

Last round
 

Well, for pref I was very nervous to find out where I had been invited back... we did recruitment a little different this year where we picked up our invites only a 1/2 hour before parties started, so if you were sad or dissapointed you really didn't have much time to get over it... luckily I didn't have to- I was invited back to KD and house #7!

KD- I was soooooo excited to go back here, I almost cried when i got my schedule... i had a wonderful time here and was preffed by a real sweetie... their ceremony was beautiful and i almost cried thinking that these girls could be my sisters withing 24 hours :) I knew as soon as I walked in that I was home... they didn't have to do much to convince me on this night- I was already sold :)

House #7: I had a great time here! The girl that preffed me last fall is actually the president of the house now- and she preffed me again this year... as soon as she called my name i was soo happy... by talking with her and really looking around at the other girls, I knew that i was NOT going to suicide this year- they are awesome girls and I would have been proud to call them my sisters.

And the rest is history- I finally got to go to Bid Day... my sigma rho chi handed me my bid with a little smile on her face- i didn't even open my card all they way- I just saw the words Kappa Delta and almost started crying- I hugged my rho chi forever and then went to join my new sisters! I had such a great experience this time around, which is what i wanted- no matter the outcome... I still see many of the girls from my rush group and see my rho chi around (unfortunately she didn't end up being in my house, but i hope to keep in touch with her :) )... Overall it was a great experience..

I've been reading all the rush threads lately and have seen so many happy threads and many that ended with dissapointment... to those who had a happy ending, congrats!!! I hope you enjoy your new home... to those who didn't get that happy ending they wanted- i can totally sympathize- it happened to me... twice! I just hope you all realize that you are awesome and open minded people... if you decide that greek life is not for you, then that's great for you- just be happy with who you are :) For others, i strongly encourage you to give it another chance- you never know what happy things may come :)

Thanks again to everyone on this board for all of your support- I really don't think i'd be happy in my new home without all of your support and encouraging words... thank you :)

Um, the reason that people do the numbers instead of chapter names is so that should there be members of that chapter on GC they won't see whether or not you liked the house while going through recruitment. So do you think you could tell us which chapters were which numbers?

GiantsChic, I am so happy for YOU sweetheart! What a wonderful story and you gave us a happy ending to boot! I have no doubt the you will bring as much to KD as KD will bring to you!

I'm soooo glad that you finally posted this!

I'd been wondering if you had pref'd the same houses again. I'm so stoked to know that even though you are now a KD you were at least willing to give SK (#7) a chance. I would have been jumping up and down if you'd ended up there.

:( I'm disappointed that #9 was not being themselves. The girl that was President last year is friends with some girls that were in my chapter. Such a doll! Hopefully once sorority row opens they'll be on more even footing, since they really have an apt complex.

Socal Girl, I really did have a great time at house #7 this year- i think i needed last year to do a little growing and get my priorities straight- they are awesome girls and like i said before, i would have been proud to call them my sisters :)

As for house #9- they too are very sweet girls- one of the girls in my rush group went there... luckily i've been on campus for a while so i know how great they really are- i also hope things change on my campus and they are able to be themselves :)
