Colony RUSH thread at NCSU
Okay, so this one will be a little different than the other Rush threads from everyone else...maybe a little less exciting...but I'm sure looking forward to it! My name is CJ and I'm getting ready to go through recruitment for the Delta Gamma Colony starting at North Carolina State University! I was thrilled last year when I learned that DG was going to colonize at NCSU. My mom is an Eta DG and I've heard about what an amazing time she had through the fraternity. I've been waiting since the beginning of the school year to start the process and it starts tonight with an information session. Tomorrow will be one on one interviews, Thursday will be a Pref Party, and Friday bids will be extended.
Although I am very excited about recruitment, I have to say that I have some very bad news as well. My mom, who two weeks ago officially beat breast cancer, was told yesterday that her cancer has spread to her liver, lungs, and spine. And there simply isn't much we can do. Statistically, patients in this situation have less than two years. Which tears me apart. But I know that it means a lot to her (and a lot to me) to go through the recruitment. If I was to get a bid, it is something very special we could share together... But enough of this stuff, I'm starting to cry! Wish me luck on the meeting tonight, the head of the DG Extention Board has contacted me and has asked me to introduce myself tonight since my mom filled out a legacy form. So I am excited about that. It should be a lot of fun! I'll let you know how things go later tonight! And tomorrow...and the next day!! :) Saying a few prayers, CJ |
joy and tears...
my prayers are with your mom and you.
most definitely go forward. it will be another bond you and she will always share. good luck and god speed. |
CJ,
I am so excited for you as embark on the recruitment process of Delta Gamma. Relax, have fun and just let your personality and warmth shine through! For your Mom, my hopes and prayers are with her. Please keep us updated. |
CJ- My prayers are with you, and I hope you will be lucky enough to share that incredible bond of sisterhood with your mom.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. How awful. :( Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Good luck with recruitment, though! I hope you find a home with Delta Gamma. |
Sending out prayers to your mom, and good luck to you and Delta Gamma!
|
My prayers are with you and your family at this time. Sometimes a crisis like this enables us to feel how precious our family is to us, I know that's what my father's illness afforded me.
As for your recruitment process, I think it will be absolutely thrilling to hear about the Delta Gamma colonization. The beginning of a sisterhood is such an exciting time, please keep us updated. violets |
CJ, my best wishes to you, your mom and your entire family at this time. I can't even imagine what you may be going through. I hope that the Delta Gamma colonization process is a positive for you. Maybe one day soon you and your mom will share the sisterhood of Delta Gamma! How exciting would that be for both of you!
All recruitment threads are exciting :) no matter the type, school or sorority involved! Please let us know all about it, because I think it's just wonderful to get a chance to be a part of a new chapter. Good luck, Christin (recruitment thread addict!) |
I will also be praying for your mother and your family. It would be a beautiful thing if you could share DG.

Okay well here you go...the meeting was great! They had a lot of women speak about different aspects of DG and about how a colony starts. There were slide shows going in the background with pictures. They had blueprints for the house. It was awesome! About 300 girls were there and we each have individual interviews tomorrow. Mine is at noon! I will let everyone know how it goes!! I got to speak with a lot of the women personally and they all seemed so nice! I'm thrilled! :D
|
Goof luck with your interview tomorrow. Let us know how it turns out.
Greek love, Melissa |
That's Awesome! Good luck, I have a feeling that they won't be able to turn you down.

Good luck on your interview with the girls tomorrow...I'm so excited for you. Also....please send your mother love from the Eta Chapter. We will be praying for her and we hope that she'll recover quickly!
I'll be thinking about you both over the next week! Andrea Eta Chapter -- University of Akron |
Just a few hours now!! I'm so excited!! I'll let everyone know how it goes right afterwards!
|
good luck! go north carolina greeks!!
|
Okay, I just got back. It went great!!! While waiting in line I made friends with a few of the other girls waiting...a few weren't very friendly though, which was discouraging. So then it was my turn and the woman I was with was really really sweet! We talked about my family, her family, school, majors, leadership, and just so many other things. Tomorrow between 9 AM and 12 Noon, we have to go by the Greek Life Office and pick up Envelopes which will tell us if we will be invited back to the Preference Party, which will be tomorrow night!!!! How exciting! Anyway, sometime tomorrow I'll let you guys know how it goes...cross your fingers!
|
I wish you the best of luck CJ!

I will be crossing my fingers for you and I hope that you will advance on to the next round! Keep on dazzling them! |

Okay ladies (and gents too) here is the report! The ceremony was amazing. There are no other words than that. Truly beautiful. They have some hard decisions to make tonight, we get bids tomorrow between 9 and noon. I had a great time tonight. They brought the sisters from the Duke Chapter here and they did preference just like they do it during formal rush over there at Duke. It was a magical night and all of the girls were so awesome. I can't wait until tomorrow! I signed my bid card tonight...now it's just thier turn!! Cross your fingers for me...I will let everyone know bright and early what happens!!! :D

I called my mom this morning and she is sooooo thrilled! Not only will she now be my mother, a best friend, and a mentor...but now she will be my sister too! That is not something that anything can take away!! Even Cancer! All things happen for a reason, and for DG to colonize at NCSU at this point in my life is not just a coincedence...there is something bigger working here...and I'm so THRILLED!!! :D :D :D
|
This thread has truly made me smile today. First, ALL the Duke sorority girls are sweet and adorable, and I'm glad they gave you such a good impression. I have equally nice things to say for the NCSU Greek system, or what I know of it.
Congratulations, WhiteDaisy. I do agree with you that the colonization of DG cannot be a coincidence for you and your family... God works in mysterious but wonderful ways ;) I hope you enjoy the special bond that you will have with your mother as sisters. I wish you tons of fun this afternoon honey! |
Congratulations!!! :D :) :D
How wonderful for both you and your mom! This must be a tremendous boost for both of you during a difficult time. I wish you all the best! |
