Party ideas the guys would like
All you guys out there (and ladies w/ideas!)-
My sorority is looking for new ideas for parties that the guys would like. The western and 50/60/70/80s ideas have gotten a little boring. Does anyone have any good ideas? We want something new and creative. Thanks so much! Lyndsi |
KEG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alot of houses at my school are doing jungle themes this year. The guys get into it... loincloths and everything. Can be a good or bad thing... anyways I keep hearing about jungle parties the guys are throwing and they are a blast!
|
pajama jam, or a biker party is cool. but you cant ever go wrong with the chicks n hicks party :)
|
wedding - this is one wedding the guys will actually like! :D
|
the ever classic toga party.
if you have guys that are pretty outgoing, have an autograph party. |
One of the fraternities at our school actually wanted to do a cocktail mixer with us, and it's been one of the best I've gone to. Everyone was dressed up, there was swing music or classical music playing in the background, and everyone had a blast. It just took mixers to a whole different level....and it was the guys' idea

Let's see... one of my chapter's favorites is the annual "war social," with Kappa Alpha Order. Each year, we alternate which chapter attacks the other (last year, the guys attacked us and we had their house to ourselves for about 2 hours beforehand to prepare). War social is a huge water fight that begins on the Sunday before the actual event and goes all week long. Last year it got a little out of hand with the boys throwing balloons in the university cafeteria, but it's still a lot of fun. Everyone gets dressed in fatigues and we had about 2000 water balloons. This doesn't work too well if you have an actual "house," and our KAs don't have a chapter-owned house, but theirs works out nicely because it's on a huge hill and it's pretty secluded. But other chapters could do it at a park or something.
Another thing that we were supposed to do this year with Pi Kappa Alpha was rent sumo-wrestling costumes and a mat and have a competition, but it didn't work out. Sounds fun though. I'm still a big fan of broomball... never tried the Greek wedding- Kappas on our campus do it every year though. |
Sex & the City
I don't know if most guys would think it's cool, but next week we're having a Sex & the City mixer with a fraternity (they pride themselves on being a little classier than the others). We're all dressing up, drinking cosmopolitans, and talking about Mr. Big.
|
TOGA!!!!!Or one where you dress as playboy bunnies and they dress a Hugh Hefner
|
Here we are having a dismissed mixer (like the MTV show) with Alpha Xi Delta.
We pair 1 guy with 2 girls and go to dinner and at the end of the night 1 girl from the three-some is dismissed. |
Everyone in my house loves having graffiti parties.
|
James Bond theme is awesome....
|
Anything down and dirty... maybe you could go play paint ball and then have a party that night. Also, Jello parties, foam parties, etc...
What about a beach party? Guys like girls in bikinis, right? |
Catholic School Girl and Dirty Old Man
Jungle Heaven. Hell, and Earth BLT (Boxers, Lengerie, or Togas) -- maybe too risque Pimps and Hoes (but there's a WHOLE thread about why this is wrong... i still like it though) Cops and Robbers (?) $1 Prom (or whatever it's called - wear ratty dresses, or ones that are too small or somthing) any decade: 20s, 60s, 70s, 80s hmmmmm can't think of anymore |
Ghetto
[COLOR=deeppink]One of our greatest exchanges was a "clothless" exchange. You had to wear anything BUT clothes, it was great, guys made togas out of beer boxes and girls were wearing "Caution" tape....so much fun :) anpther one was our "Ghetto" theme whre tyhe girls dressed like white-trsh/slutty and the guys dressed ghetto-ed out....both were aweome!

For some reason, guys absolutely love an 80's rocker night. I guess it's a night to relive all of their old favorite song and wear cutoff jean vests and bandanas and get away with it. I think you usually can't go wrong with any fun theme, because as far as I've seen, guy's like to go all out with costumes. On a side note, I know there has been some controversy on another thread about pimp's and ho's. I've been to an exchange where guys an girls reversed the roles, so all the guys busted out short skirts and tube tops and the girls got to wear big fur coats and walk around with canes. It puts a fun twist on it!

shotgun wedding
we just had a shotgun wedding with a fraternity and they loved it. we hicked and white trashed out. had a bbq then announced the wedding party (guys voted on bridal party and vice-versa). then we caravanned to the other location with decorated cars and honking. we had the ceremony (shotgun and "preacher" and all). the best man toased with a box of wine. lots of fun.
we may follow up with an annulment party. |
How about a "Gangsta Party" Everyone can dress ghetto and drink cheap beer and alch. The music will be hip hop so you guys can bump and grind. We had fun at our party and so did the guys!
|
A bar around here just hosted a Studio 54 themed night, girls wore big boas, gold shirts, and some wore black big band dresses, guys in disco... yeah baby.
Also, the Kappa's here had a Army/camoflauged date party where everyone wore army green or something of that nature, the couples looked so cute together. You could also have a masquerade type costume thingy with masks that you made. Hawaiian beach parties are always fun as well. A radio station from where I live always hosts a "Prom from Hell" which is like the $1 Prom where everyone breaks out the light blue suits with ruffle shirts and girls get big hair, and break out huge bridesmaids dresses, and old 80's prom dresses. I've also heard a lot about my tie parties where guys will turn in ties, and the girls draw one, and spend the night wearing the tie, and the guys or girls or something guess who has their tie. I don't know the exact specifics of this one. There is always the old foam party idea, though it's pretty expensive, and might be a liability, but guys like to get all wet and soapy with girls! |
One of our girls came up with this. I have yet to see it but it sounds cool. A dyslexic underware party, where the girls where boxers and white tank-tops and they guys wear lingerie and teddy's. I don't know how it would turn out but it might just be funny seeing the guys in lingerie!!

Have a country exchange! Boys Love girls dressed up as cowgirls!
|
Country club exchange: the girls where twin sets and pleated skirts, the guys where dorky golf clothes.
Jungle party Hevean and Hell Playboy Party/Hustler Party-Also, you can find out if your school has a playboy or a Hustler rep at your school. If they do, they might be willing to pay for everything for you and give away cool stuff at the party. Jocks and Cheerleaders School Girls and Priests (though this is a BAD idea if your school is Catholic in origin!) Rock stars and Groupies |

another idea kinda like it has a rockstar/celeb theme... for example, a guy might be told to dress up like kid rock, and the girl like pam anderson... and they have to figure out when they get there that they are each others date. you could use sonny and cher, britney and justin... fred durst and christina lol |
School Daze Mixer, was our best mixer this semester. The ZTAs came dressed as school girls and the Pi Kapps came dressed as sterotypical professors.
|
White Trash Bash... everyone dressed up, had bbq, played redneck games, and ended the night with a horrid food fight! Fun!
Cowboys and Cuties... self-explanatory. I think they played country music and roasted marshmallows. Fingerpaint Mixer... Everyone wore white shirts and brought paint. Painted each other, kept the T-shirts for souvenirs. Movie Mixer... all the girls put their names in a hat, the guys drew. Whoever chose you was your date for the evening! It's really convenient bc we have a dollar theater about 5 minutes from campus. Lots of fun... it was like a huge group date. Mash Bash... everyone dressed in camo and played hide-and-seek in the fraternity house. The guys brought out water balloons in the end and before long everybody was outside and soaking wet! Rock Star Mixer... everyone dressed up as rock stars and lip-synched to cheesy 80's rock! fun! And of course we've had luau, disco, 80's, red light (pimps-n-hoes), etc... |
We had an Auction party awhile ago that went over very well.
15 or so guys went and bought a different type of liquore, at the party they were announced one at a time and went 'on stage' and did their thing and the girls bid on them with shots of the liquore they had. |
parties
We had a grafitti party with a local frat and everyone wore white t-shirts with there nick-names on them. THen everyone wrote on each other with colored markers....it was a blast and at the next morning you get to read what everyone wrote!!!!
DZ's!!:) |
Any thing BUT clothes parties are always good :)

Okay as a guy,
isn't it funny how heaven and hell parties have hell in the basement and heaven up stairs where all the bedrooms are? Just a point. However, here a couple of ideas (dry and wet) dry: Rootbeer kegger... its kinda funny, but can give you a stomach ache. Keg stands are a must. Also, everyone usually prefunks so in reality its just a mixer. Trading Spaces Social. Okay, we've never done it but it might be done next quarter in the spring. WET Studio 54 theme... VIP rooms are a must. All the girls will try to get into the VIP just because its the VIP. Usually champagne will be in the room. And the rest of the party will have a normal studio 54 atmosphere. (can be expensive) "White Trash" or "Bum" if you will. Rent a large moving truck. Get some couches and a stereo and park it in the back of the house or front I guess and throw a white trash or Bum themed party. WT usually works better. Very cheap. We had a party that we always did called "loggers brawl". It was very interesting. The front door was a window that you had to climb a ladder to get to. The front door was locked so the only way in was the window. A slide brought you down into the party (down the main staircase. Usually consisted of dinner before of pancakes and coffee. And then a spowty (however you spell it) at the party. A maze was also incorporated after the window entrance. You may find yourself in room of vines and stuff like that( "treehouse"). These were usually like make out rooms or whatever. The whole dance floor was filled with a layer of hay. Tha people would kick around. A lot of country music. girls love it. and guys can bear it. It was a great party. very expensive though. Mud Bowl party mud wrestling or relay with teams of two going up against other teams of two in a tournament setting. Its amazing how physical girls can get when they really want that water weenie. If you want, there is a video at this website: Theta Xi Upsilon Chapter Hope any of that helped anyone. |

We have a blackout party every year where most of the rooms in the house are dark and filled with soap bubbles (we have tile floors). People carry flashlights around the whole night. Usually makes for a pretty fun night.
Also we do one called Fire and Ice which people dress up either naughty or nice, devil or angel type of thing. For the Superbowl we get a big screen tv out front, and setup couches stadium seating style in the back of trucks. Makes it easy to get rid of beer bottles without getting up. Just make sure you clean the truck out in the morning otherwise they fly out all over the road when you turn a corner. |
we're working on planning mud volleyball!
|
another idea that just worked with us was a paintball war
the guys had enough guns and radios to outfit our entire sorority we went to a forest where there's an abandoned church that's on a hill and we played capture the fort it was so cool because we mixed it up now, everybody is psyched and want to do it again |
Marriage and Divorce parties are always a blast.
There was also talk of a Larry Eustachy party (our ncaa coach who was fired for drinking at other teams campuses after games) where everyone came dressed in black turtlenecks and khakis with all the natty ice possible...sounds promising. |

Graffitti parties are always great and so are Anything but Clothes (Old Navy bags make for WONDERFUL halter tops for the ladies out there)
Around the world parties are fun as well. Each room has a different country and a drink from that country! |
