Your Beauty Routine

Okay, so we have had lots of "What do you use" threads, and I was thinking, women have a certain ROUTINE that they do everyday, so what is yours?

Mine:
Wake up and take bath with Victoria Secrets Strawberries and Champagne, end with a quick showering. Products in my bathtub include: TIGI Moisture Manic Shampoo and Conditioner and Loreal Curlvive for days I leave my hair curly. I also Clinique 3 step in level 3 but I don't use the yellow colored lotion I use the oil absorbing one.

I do my makeup before my hair so that my hair can dry some in a towel.
Foundation (Clinique) and concealer.
I use Maybelline Liquid eyeliner in black and then put my eyeshadow on (I have about 200 colors to choose from) and then Maybelline Mascara.
Clinique bronzing powder for blush
Lipliner in a brownish/red tone and then a gloss in a pink or whitish tone (fleshy looking)

Then to my hair:
For Straight hair:
Redken Quicksnap and TIGI Ego Boost. Then I blowdry with a CONAIR 1875 Watt blowdryer and a flat brush. Sometimes I use a little Beach Blonde Hair Highlighter.
After blowdrying I style my hair and use Scruples O2 orginals spray foam to set and occasionally their hairspray. I also use KMS Straight Hair shine (smells like vanilla!)

For CURLY hair:
I put some gel in and scrunch with my diffuser on low. Set with Scruples O2 Spray Foam

I use a lotion with sparkles on my legs if I leave them bare and to be shown, and add a scented lotion that matches my perfum de jour (of late Ralph Lauren Sport or Tommy Girl which are older!)

Then I am off.
Takes about 25-45 mintues depending on where I am going. Once a week (when I am bored) I do a french pedicure and paint my nails a pale pink color that is nudish so my nails show through. I really love Maybelline WET SHINE for my nails (both feet and fingers)

Silverblue 09-21-2002 03:29 PM

Ilovemyglo, I know a Web site you'd love. It's beautybuzz.com. It's all about stuff like this. I love it!

valkyrie 09-21-2002 08:14 PM

Ilovemyglo, how do you do that all in 25-45 minutes? For me to shower, do makeup and style my hair takes AT LEAST an hour, longer if I'm going out for the evening. I think I must just be really slow or something.

It's funny that you mention the word "routine" because that's what I call it -- "Oh, I can't go out yet; I have to do my routine." I rarely leave the house without makeup on and my hair done, although once in a great while I'll go to the gym or grocery store.

KillarneyRose 09-21-2002 09:12 PM

My beauty routine is pretty basic these days unless I'm going out for something special. Shower, put Bedhead in my hair, blowdry, mascara, blush and Chapstick. Then my Angel perfume and lotion.

When I was in college though; geez! I took forever to get ready. Just painting on my black swooshy eyeliner took forever not to mention the purple eyeshadow and layer upon layer of mascara.

In our chapter we weren't allowed to wear makeup for initiation and I found out later that all the sisters were dying to know what I would look like without all that stuff on my face! (Answer: I looked about 12 years old!)

SuperSister 09-22-2002 11:16 AM

In the shower I start with my hair, I use Renewal 5x shampoo to wash just my roots, rinse then lather entire head. Next I use the conditioner and comb through, twist, clip and leave sit while I finish my shower. The body wash depends on my mood but usually something from B&B Works or Vicky's Secret.

When I finish the shower I used Step 2 from Clinique level 3 and then apply L'oreal Future e Moisturizer. I apply Herbal Essences Intesive Creme Leave in Conditioner to the roots of my hair (I have REALLY long hair and if I don't take care of it then it looks horrid) and comb through. I let that absorb in while I use Jergens Naturally smooth on legs, arms and belly. Next I use Vaseline Intesive Care Solutions Smooth Feet lotion on my feet. After I'm done with that just a dab of Neutrogena Norwegian formula on my knees, elbows, and hands.

The next step is to apply infusium 23 smoothing and defining lotion and blowdry my hair. Because it's so long I have to dry it before I do my makeup or my face feels gross from all the heat. Then I take my 1 1/2 inch curling iron and run it through to smooth and curl the ends under. I smooth on Head Wear Hair Polish and brush through. On days I don't have time for my hair I comb through it and let it dry some while I get ready and then clip it before I leave or braid it when I get where I'm going.

My makeup depends on my mood, sometimes just foundation, mascara and lip gloss or sometimes all out. My makeup is Rimmel though. I love it but it's cheap too! I like it better than L'oreal or Revlon and it costs even less!

Out of my entire routine my hair takes the longest to do. I have really long brown hair and it looks GREAT when I wear it down and I'm very attached to it. Lately I've been thinking of getting it cut to just below my shoulder and adding some layers to make me look more adult but the thought of losing my hair and maybe not liking it scares me to death.

My routine is rather random sometimes:
Most of the time I shower first (or if I've done it the night before I wet down my hair). While my hair is wrapped in a towel, I'll start applying my make up. I start with moisturizer and then foundation. Next the base of my eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyecolor, and finally masquera. Lastly comes blush and chapstick.
Then I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and dry my hair.
Finally, as I'm about to walk out the door I'll use some loose powder under my eyes and then apply some lipstick.

Whew~ not so bad when you read it but it takes forever sometimes!

My routine is:

My routine is:

Monday, Wednes, and Friday:
Take a shower, moisturize my body, put on my contact, put on my work clothes(I have to work at 7-9), put my hair in a pony tail, put together a make-up bag, pack school clothes (I have a locker at work), pack my book-bag.

Off to work, after work I change my clothes, comb my hair, put on my make-up and off to school.

Tues and Thurs:
up at 5(I have to work at 6:45-7:45) same as above. class at 8 and 9:30.

Thursday night:
Shower, moisturize my body, put in my contacts, iron my clothes, plug up the flat irons and curling irons, put on my clothes, do my hair, put on my make-up and put on perfume and walk out the door and party.

MoxieGrrl 09-23-2002 10:35 AM

I wake up & jump in the shower. First thing I do is wash my face with Clean & Clear...the stuff in the purple bottle. Then I wash my hair and put in some leave-in conditioner. While the conditioner is working it's magic, I shave. Then, I rinse the conditioner, get out, & wrap my hair in a towel.

Next, I put lotion on (I like Caress Wild Blossom) and put astringent & moisturizer (more Clean & Clear stuff) on my face. Then, I get dressed and take the towel off my hair and put some gel stuff in it. After that, I brush my teeth & blowdry my hair. While my curlers are heating up, I start to put on make up.

Oh goodness...it's a lot.....concealer, foundation, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer, blush, lipliner and lipstick.

Then, I put my hair in curlers, curl what falls out with a curling iron, take out the curlers, and brush it all out.

It usually takes me about 45 minutes for the whole deal.

ilovemyglo: Is it better to put liquid eyeliner on before eyeshadow? I just bought some, so I want to be sure I get it right....

librasoul22 09-23-2002 10:47 AM

Whoa, lol. My daily routine consists of showering (Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner and Dove soap), going through my hair with a wide toothed comb (after that it air dries really quickly), cocoa butter all over, Degree Invisible solid (shower fresh), a spritz of some Gucci Envy, some Carmex for the lips, and I am done. It takes me about 45 minutes to get ready, 30 of which are spent in the shower. I don't wear makeup at all, nor do I do extravagant things to my hair unless it is a special occasion.

aephi alum 09-23-2002 06:41 PM

Wow, some of your routines are so complicated  I almost never wear makeup or do anything complicated to my hair, so I just do the standard shower, wash and dry my hair, brush teeth, blah blah blah. I can be ready in 10 minutes if need be.

IowaHawkeye 09-23-2002 07:22 PM

I'm with you aephialum....

I usually shower at night when I get home from the gym, so my daily routine constists of rolling out of bed a half hour before class, washing my face/brushing my teeth and either changing my clothes, or occasionally I have been known to go to class in my pjs... i'm usually on my way to class in 10/15 minutes :)

SoCalGirl 09-23-2002 10:03 PM

I'm so envious of some of ya'll!

Up at 6:30
Shower:
shampoo rinse repeat
condition
body wash
shave underarms and legs
rinse off body wash
rinse out conditioner
turn water to cold and rinse all over (makes your hair shiny and wakes you right up!)

By the time I'm done with my shower it's anywhere from 7:00 to 7:15
hair in towel
dry off
brush teeth
wash face
toner
moisturizer
makeup--foundation always!
--depending on my mood: eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipliner, lipstick
--these days it's mainly been: foundation, mascara, lip gloss

Hair: comb through with wide tooth comb

After all that it's back to the bedroom
body lotion
get dressed

Out the door between 7:40-7:45

In the car I crank up the heat and shake out my hair all the way to work.
When I arrive my hair is still damp.
But hey, at least I'm on time! 8am

So it takes me roughly an hour to get ready for work. If I were to blow dry my hair I'd have to add at least 30 minutes. If I were to curl my hair; that would be at least another hour! So my hair stays straight!

ilovemyglo 09-23-2002 10:41 PM

Moxiegrrl:

I use liquid before because that way if it looks too much you can cover with the eyeshadow, but I use it afterwards if I am going out clubbing and partying cause it looks more dramatic
BTW I don't use eyeliner on the bottom unless I am going out too, cause it looks much more dramatic!
I know that liquid isn't the big thing to use now a days, but it looks good I think if you have larger eyes like I do.

Oh, and I guess cause I am so used to my routine, it doesn't take long. I take longer some days, but not others. My hair takes the longest, but it isn't bad cause I have an awesome blow dryer!

GreekLetterGirl 09-27-2002 02:24 PM

Ok my routine is INSANE!!! My sisters always tell me that the house misses my clothes and make up because i am a TOTAL junkie of both!!!
Anyways here it goes

SHOWER
in the shower I start with washing my hair using Paul Mitchell Products, than I wash my face with Cetaphil or Clinque 7 day Srcub, than I shave after shaving, I use either VS Heavenly, or some other body wash, after that I use Te Tao exfulating scrub ALL OVER it makes your skin SOOO soft!!!!

After the shower I used cocca butter or baby lotion all over followed by VS Heavenly lotion

Now I plug in the curling/straitening iron

I put in hair product also Paul Mitchel

Now on to make up no joke I have 4 big make up bags full of make up sorted by color
normally it is either purples or browns
concelar, lose powder, pressed powder, bronzer, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, and lip stick

hair i either flip it out, roll it under, or straighten it... all done with in an hour :)

now going out nites is TOTALLY different :)

ilovemyglo 09-27-2002 04:52 PM

I was a theater major in high school so we learned all of these really cool makeup techniques and I still get phone calls when dances come around about girls wanting me to drive an hour and ahalf to "Come to the dance, oh and bring your makeup and you can do mine!!!" Haha! It makes me feel good to know that they love it. I probably have over a thousand dollars worth of makeup and I never throw it away unless it is empty- i give that which I don't use but twice a year to my mom, and then I can borrow!
Haha

My routine is fairly simple in comparsion to some of the ones on this thread!

-Roll out of bed
-Hop in shower: wash hair with Neutrogena clarifying/shine shampoo and conditioner, wash face with Aveeno gentle exfoliating scrub, and use Oil of Olay body wash
-Put Bed Head straightening serum on hair
-Use Aveeno facial moisturizer
-Eat breakfast/read newspaper
-Dry hair using a big round brush to straighten it out
-Brush teeth
-Makeup: Stila foundation/concealer, mascara, Clinique shadow and chapstick
-Dress and out the door!

Fewdfreak 09-28-2002 03:07 AM

When I have class, I usually roll out of bed at 6-ish, get dressed, brush my teeth, then wash my face with the new Loreal Pure Zone clean face wash, then rise that, wash my face again with the Clean and Clear Continous Control Acne Cleanser, wash that off, then put on the the Loreal Pure Zone astringent, and then put Clean and Clear acne spot treatment on if I see any blemishes. (I really love the Loreal Pure Zone line in the clear blue bottles, it works so good. I also have the exfoliating stuff and the cream cleanser.) I then brush hair and take a nap until 7, and get up and go to class. I wear my glasses to class.

My hair/shower routine kind of weird. I take a shower everyother day (unless I'm stinky) but wash my hair about everyday in the sink, unless I take a shower that day. I cannot stand greasy/producty hair. My routine is usually get in the shower, scrub down with Bath and Body Works shower gel, then use a shower puff with Olay Mosturising Body wash, then shave. I was my hair with various things, depending on how much gunk is in it, and what it looks like. I use Loreal shampoo and conditioner in the fresh clean, and the mosturizing. I also use Biolage Hydrating Shampoo with the creamy conditioner in the jar, and sometimes I use TIGI Dumb Blonde reconstructor, Redken CAT conditioner, or Potion 7 reconstructor. After washing/conditioning, I then wash off again with Freesia bar soap from Bath and Body Works.

After shower I get out and put on shea butter lotion, powder my feet, towel dry my hair and put either Biolage Gydrofoaming Mousse in it, or the Physique mousse. Then I sometimes will blow dry. If I do, I'll put a tiny pea sized drop of Frizz-Ease cream on my little static hairs.

When I do have to look cute or I am going out, I go the distance and put on makeup (Almay foundation stick, Clinique pressed powder, bronzer/blush, eyeliner, shadow, mascara, Clinique Almost Lipstick or some gloss or real color, and put my contacts in and curl the hair...) I like makeup, just don't like having to take it all off... My suitemate that I live with is like a makeup artist, she does eyes like the pros! We all tell her she needs to drop out and go to beauty school.

Showers take me forever, my makeup routine and hair 30 min together...

swissmiss04 09-28-2002 06:34 PM

My routine...
I used to have rapunzel hair, but I chopped it off about a month or so ago and damn is it liberating...

I have 8 am's every morning except Friday (and I'm a junior!) so I tend to get up around 6:30 or 7. Here's my routine
Get in the shower, wash hair, put in conditioner, wash face, rinse out conditioner, soap up, rinse, shave, get out of shower. Wrap hair up in superabsorbant towel, dry off w/ normal towel. Put in contacts, slather on prescription face stuff (freaking rosacea), put on deodorant, lotion, then wash hands. Comb thru hair, then put back up in towel. Put on some pajamas and eat breakfast. Then undo towel, rub some TIGI stuff thru my hair for body, then blow dry. Brush teeth, get dressed, put on makeup and out the door I go!! It takes right at an hour, if I do it right. Some days I roll outta bed around 7:30 take a shower, don't dry my hair, put on clothes brush teeth and leave. I'm always on time!!

Silverblue 09-28-2002 07:41 PM

Swissmiss, what kind of rosacea medication do you use? I use Metrocream at night.

swissmiss04 09-28-2002 07:44 PM

I use Metro lotion (cream) twice a day...it doesn't seem to be clearing up the problem :( I used to have I kid you not flawless skin and now I have these random patches of scaly god awful redness and my cheeks are constantly pink. I actually had to start wearing make up to cover it up, which I absolutely hate. Hope it works for you!!!

Well other than putting some gel in my hair to keep it basically frozen in place all day that's just about right:D Although it's been awhile since I cut myself shaving... Generally I wear clean clothes and don't leave (many) dirty clothes on the floor.

MoxieGrrl 09-30-2002 10:28 AM

Call me crazy, but I just bought one of those fake ponytails. It's one of the really nice ones that look and feel real. Wearing it takes about 30 minutes out of my getting ready time. After I wash & condition my hair, I dry it, put it in a ponytail, and clamp the fake ponytail ontop. It looks so cute!! And when I went out in my hometown this weekend, I saw a lot of friends who I haven't seen in a while, and they all thought it was real! LOL

It would be crazy if someone unclamped it when I was out though. Because my hair is short, my real ponytail underneath the fake one makes me look like George Washington. hehehehe :D
