Actually...Interviews start on Wed. the 25th. Open house is Tues. the 24th. I am going through recruitment and will keep you posted! :)

Tonight
 

Tonight is the open house when sisters from other chapters (like at FSU) come and tell us what it is like to be a Delta Zeta. My friend and I are getting ready right now! We are so excited!!! Interviews start tommorrow and go throught friday.

OK, two hours before Open House!!!!! I'm nervous but excited! WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to all you prospective Delta Zetas at UF! I hope someone posts after open house and tells us all about it!

Can I please tell you all how much I LOVE DELTA ZETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Open House was really cute. It was in the Reitz Union longes (they are really pretty) and there were decorations everywhere. SO we all walk in and there is a sign in table, a name tag table, and then there is a third table for interview sign ups. I didn't go to the informal info sessions in the past few weeks because I emailed Holly Wainscott about a philanthopy question I had, and she said that since I saw the presentation during formal recruitment, I would probably be bored because it was the same one...so tonight was my first DZ event! My interview time is Friday at 10am, and then Prefs are the same night 8 pm...Those poor interviewers will only have a four hour break in between the last interview and Preferentials! Apparently, you will be notified by phone if you are invited to Prefs...and if you don't get a call...you aren't invited! :'(

The structure of Open House was a little odd. You sort of just wander around three rooms and there was a really cute video playing...There was food and drinks and a cute table full of DZ items like bracelets and visors and t-shirts and stickers! Such cute stuff! And there were scapbooks laid around full of pictures and memory items!

I spoke with a few FSU DZ's and my roomate knew one of them. They were all really sweet and we had great convo's about Delta Zeta and other stuff too. Like she is coming to Gator Growl becuase her boyfriend is here...etc...not just Delta Zeta stuff, whcih was nice. I also had a LOT of chances to meet the girls that could be my future sisters. I think the Open House was structured so informally in order to give us all a chance to talk. I met sooooo many sweet girls. A few I even exchanged numbers with in case we didn't see each other at Prefs! All of them were GREAT! I was a little worried that it would be all Freshmen there and since I am a Sophomore, I was excited to see many older girls too! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I tried to tell myself not to become too invested in all this in case it doesn't work out, but I am so excited for my interview!

Oh my gosh!!! I love Dee Zee! It was awesome and I love the attitude that the nationals have! They are putting so much work into it, and they want to make this chapter rock! It's so hard not to get to excited, but I just can't help it! I love their national officers that came! They answered so many questions about colonization and building a house and alumni stuff. I can't wait for my interview on thursday. I think I'm going to wear a goldish khaki skirt and this gator blue shirt with split sleeves (I would wear pink, but I think that would be a bit too much!). Question though: I met this girl tonight that has the same name as me, but we have totally different spellings, personality and looks. How can I tactfully tell my interviewer that there are two of us so she is sure to differentiate? I wouldn't something to happen because of a technicality. I have some other questions, so if any of you have been involved in colonization, esp for DZ, please feel free to PM me!

I am familiar w/ UF's campus. There seems to be a lack of space on frat and sorority rows. Where does DZ want to put thier new house? Just wondering.

Not a rush post but Lambda Chi Alpha and Alpha Delta Pi won the DZ banner contests...GO DZ
About the house...the old AZD/TKE house is for rent...

I heard that they are building a house on fraternity row near pi beta phi.

I know that DZ is planning on building a new house...and the idea they mentioned was building it on Fraternity Row, by Pi Phi, so they would no longer be the only sorority over there with all those boys! Not that thats a bad thing!;) I saw all the DZ banners!!! They were all great but congrats to the winner!!! :)

I know several girls who are interviewing with DZ....and I am crossing my fingers for all them. As for the houses...Kappa, Theta, and Pi Phi aren't on the row...so it's not like DZ would have to be on the row. Plus there are several fraternities that don't have their houses on the row.

A side note...anyone heard about Beta Theta Pi's troubles at UF? One of their 17year old new members was sent to hospital after drinking too much at one of their events. It's a big deal...alumni are basically coming to the house and taking over. If you want to read about it...go to www.alligator.org.

The Aligator is a very biased paper and from having heard more about what happened I don't think they are totally to blame. The person who got sick had consumed prescription medications and was already drunk at the party and had a bottle of 151 with him, abviously not a good plan. While they are at fault, the Aligator paints them in a very negative light...For this reason all greeks should support the Gator Standard. They are much more truthful in their reporting and offer free advertising to Greeks. They also support Greek philanthropic events. Next time you're on campus pick one up...

I just got back from my interview. I think it went pretty well. One thing that was strange was that they interview with two people in the room and the other consultant interviewed two PNM's during my one interview. I guess that is a good sign? Also I was introduced to the DZ past president (the one on the Centennial video) and three other consultants while none of the other PNM's that were being interviewed were introduced. So I am hoping that these are all good signs. The conversation went okay I think. Some lags but the consultants have been interviewing since 8am this morning. Well all I do now is wait for the call about Prefs. I am crossing my fingers that I get one.:D

We liberals just say no to the gator standard. Sorry Matt.

The Banner contest was a conetest for the best banner welcoming DELTA ZETA to campus! I saw most of them because I dropped my friend off at Delta Gamma for dinner on the night when the DZ ladies were announcing their arrival and discussing recs and Panhellenic Bigs, and as I was driving down the row I saw the beautiful banners flying! I then decided to take my "so excited to rush for Delta Zeta" butt down fraternity row and I saw more there! It was so sweet of everyone to think of such a cute way to welcome the women of DZ recruitment team(expansion team?) on campus!

I JUST GOT INVITED FOR PREFERENCE!!!! YAY!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

congratulations on being invited to preference!! I had my interview today and I think it went fabulously! I had a great time and we talked for almost 30 minutes, so hopefully I'll see you there on friday night!
